- Whats up with Riverview? Riverview is doing just fine, but since the city is much bigger than Easthaven, the simulation speed is quite a bit slower, which under normal conditions I really don't mind as I very rarely play on speed 2 or 3 - but since Economy 2.0 drastically alters the economy and requires a couple of months worth of in-game time for a city to settle, the simulation speed is really slow and I'll need to let Riverview just run for a few hours before it's "playable". So since I have had a blast in Easthaven with all these new changes, I haven't prioritized getting Riverview all Economy 2.0'ed up 😊 Anyways - I got a ton of comments on the last vid saying I would love the new Detailer's Patch: And you guys where oh so right! With Economy 2.0 and Detailers 1.0, I honestly feel Cities Skylines 2 is a changed game with a bright future, and if anything, it shows the commitment to making up for the awful, lackluster launch of the game. I love river view and EHC but some thing is just missing and idk. I think it’s different housing styles like Puerto Rico (where I live) or trailer homes and actual mansions neighborhoods. But I love this game and this channel, best cs2 creator so far.
Yes it took me a few years even at the small islands map to get some profits to invest again when started. But so far it works fine. It just need some time and buildings that got upgraded for a smaller space to get some profits. And reorganising areas can put severe dent into income and wealth now.
Splitting the elementary school campus in half with a street and removing crosswalks is god-tier US planning. High school next to a busy train station? No worries!
ngl the detailer patch was the cherry on the cake and the game feels fun, hard but smal buildings ease it and add more variety to how you can build. the game actually feels ready to play now. Id say 2.0 was detailed in hopes both updates could come out together but i think having it slightly after is fine. Atleast beta feels like its over
Fully agree Anthony. An awful launch for sure, but now things have really started to turn around for the better! Economy 2.0 made especially small or rural cities much harder, but the follow-up with the Detailer's patch helped a lot with the added flexibility of these smaller service buildings!
I love the challenge it now has. I almost went bankrupt twice on garbage because my city was failing without but my city also was to poor for anything but a landfill that didnt fit because of the map
@@ysuff._us We had a whole conversation about this under a Two Dollars Twenty video a couple of days before CPP made a video about C:S1 at launch. TBH I do think people look at the past with rosy glasses, but it's also true that C:S2 had wayyyy bigger expectations at launch partly BECAUSE they hyped it so much. All said and done i genuinely cant go back to c:s1 now entirely because of the road tools so idk
Loving the return to this series! A small tip as someone who has lived in New England all my life, it's very populated. Even the rural areas are quite dense. Not in the way of a million tiny housing developments but much older. Houses are everywhere along the patchwork of roads leading anywhere or nowhere. I think adding a couple houses every once in a while on major or rural roads would make it seem very realistic to southern Massachusetts.
Yeah this is a great point and generally speaks to the character of what you see in the northeastern US as a whole. I’m from Pennsylvania and what you described about New England is very true there too in the rural areas.
There really should be cross walks for the extensions wings you placed for both the elementary and high schools. That would surely be the case IRL for students being able to cross the road?
The vibes of Easthaven are immaculate. It's so scenic and feels very real, you've done an amazing job Infra! Honestly I enjoyed Riverview but I'm way more excited to see the potential of Easthaven be fulfilled :)
When you showed the empty lot at the harbor I instantly thought I'd find a hipster like coffee place there, maybe with some space for artists. Especially with the post industrial theme now, I wouldnt be surprised to find this in a place like that.
The empty lot by the office would be a lovely place for a hotel/restaurant. People can enjoy the views while eating and stay and have a proper luxury experience right at downtown.
Everyday you upload helps me brighten my moods. Glad you like the detailers patch! Added a lot to Easthaven already. Keep going, you make everyone happy.
New England has single family homes lining basically every single "US/State Route" roads that run through the patches of forest connecting to other towns. In Southern New England, there's very few places where you won't have at least one neighbor within a quarter of a mile. Northern New England is much more sparse, and much of maine is completely remote, but Mass,CT,Rhode Island are all basically one gigantic suburb from Boston to New York City. Also, anywhere on the coastline in New England is going to be super densely packed. Beachside property has been a massive staple of success in New England forever, so they crammed as many houses along the ocean as they could.
I think so ingame lore for the Cape naming problem could be that because the Cape town itself is quite old and was the first establishment they'd be the richest in the area. then when new people came in and made new areas the cape sponsored the etra services and it was name for them
I checked out on cs2 when it came out but seeing your videos recently has really perked my interest again. All the extra detailing effort really makes a huge difference
Cranberry Boggs. Finally caught up to real time in this series and have loved it. I grew up in exactly this area, buzzards bay looking over the cape. It has been super fun to watch. My only critique is that you need cranberry Boggs. You can’t have agriculture in buzzards bay region without it!
Love the series. I think it would be nice to see some local highway services along the highway (just a simple fuel stop, little shop, some parking). I think it would make the empty space around the highway a bit more interesting and I would love to see your detailing on that. Also (maybe a bit later in the series), I would be really excited to see you try your hand at a rural airport. I think the asset is out of proportions, so I think it would be a great challenge to make it look realistic with surfaces and props but if anyone can do it, it would be you!
You could add invisible paths and some benches in the forests and by the lakes. Also maybe designate some nature areas as "recreational areas" so that the people of Easthaven could enjoy the beautiful surrounding nature. I imagine that the nature is a pretty big thing for all the towns and something that they would be proud of, and known for :)
I feel like Victoria Beach would be a great spot for a small 9 hole golf course. Been watching for a while - nothing hits quite like an Infrastructurist upload. Keep up the great content!
Excellent ! Excellent ! I knew that new patch would please your brain so much ! That said, i think you really should unlock the more building types possible. You have 40+ dots of unlockable stuff. it's a bit of a waste for the benefit it could bring to the diversity and interesting assets it have.
56:34 - I'd suggest to make the middle island a a big city to which workers for offices would travel. In the northern island you could build the airport and maybe some industries. This big city could extend rollto the right by a bridge, although that mountain would need a great deal of terraforming or maybe it could be a mining or foresting or petroleum.
I think that would be awesome to implement some “funcional” beaches (Mill beach, what a spot) with some comercial builds. Just remembering the Port Douglas Beach, back in the old but gold Coniferia times😅
I've noticed (at least on my build) that with the Economy 2.0 patch, education brings in the $$$. I think this is because they can demand a higher salary and therefore add more tax revenue to the city/county. I think that this is actually why you are making more money. Check out the timelines from when you upgraded the schools and at least from my perspective you started gaining money at that point. Hopefully this makes sense.
Hey Infrastructurist, love your videos. I noticed that the employee amount for the original Primary School in Downtown Chowder Bay has 75 employees whereas it should be 15. This was the same with the highschool you deleted at the beginning hence why you got more income even after adding two new highschools. I think its a bug with the employee mod you had before so any services that were used before the Economy 2.0 patch still have more employees then they should causing a large amount of wage cost.
I think the new mid-size city should go on the currently uninhabited island that the Massachusetts highway runs through, west of Chowder Bay and south of West Point! (I think those are the proper cardinal directions 😅)
When they said they made having a good economy harder, I didnt think I wouldnt be able to have a normal medical care, law enforcement, fire departments, have everything under budgeted, taxes raised more then I would have had before the update and still be close to total bankruptcy, and never tought that I’d say " Thank god I have some money now " when I barely got 100k from leveling up
The big city should be on the islands north of Chowder Bay, I imagine it being a knockoff Boston. But it would make more sence to build it east of cape autumn, since it will provide more space for the bigger city. Also, here are some island name suggestions, as I heard you briefly mentioned this theme: Berwick Island (Chowder Bay) Rose island (Cape rose) Lesser Norfolk Island (Westpoint) Greater Norfolk Island (Cape Autumn)

35:44 This is not really a thing in US. I mean like some High schools have special programs like Avid, IB, sports, etc. but specific emphasis is pretty unusual
Gave this game a pass when it came out, I was actually very hyped for it but the initial reviews (and continuing reviews for many months after launch) were very disappointening. Seems it's finally on the right track, so now might be the time to get into it. :)
I watch CityPlanner fix his economy by turning the Office taxing to max until it went to a zero income, then put it back to a reasonable rate to re-populate the zoning... Takes a bit of money to pull off, but pays off in the end!
Could you pls upload the map on PDX mods? It looks amazing! I know its the vanilla map edited, but the changes are hard to re-do as someone not talented in map making 🥲
I have seen now a several videos about CS2. For me it’s more like a street simulator than a city simulator, compared to sim city 4 with mods. If I make a comparison. Sorry but won’t waste my time with it. 😮😢
how do you plop down housing units or any units in this case, without having to zone the tiles under it, or without there being tiles under it at all? is there a specific mod? i have find it mod and search mod but when i place them down they dissapear after a while because they're not zoned, i also have anarchy but that doesn't seem to help
Love your builds but for the love of god, please turn of snap to guidlines and snap to side of buildings. Your grids will be so much cleaner. Very Interesting City Alot of green. Im trying to built a Climate Neutral City what is as you can think is not easy
Splitting the elementary school campus in half with a street and removing crosswalks is god-tier US planning. High school next to a busy train station? No worries!
I’d disagree. At least with the extension wings. Separate yes, across the street, no.
and no crosswalk either. 😚 🤌
Some american schools are separate, but never across the street in my experience.
exactly. when he added a node in front of it, i thought he was going to place a crosswalk there, but no
There is an elementary school close to here that's split in three with a big street in between.

Fun fact: if you redraw your train lines, the new American passenger train will spawn
The empty lot in the harbour is the perfect place for a nauticial Museum that includes an exhibition ship.
