I've known a few people with aspergers syndrome and they do tend to be alone, but they don't exactly feel lonely. Most are perfectly happy being alone. They isolate themselves because they like it that way.

I've got aspergers syndrome, too, even if it's the high functioning kind. My 2 cats and 1 horse are like my own personal therapy as well as family. And yeah, I can relate to the constant creative thinking. I write fantasy stories, crochet, do art crafts... once I'm zoned in, I almost can't take my mind off it.

If Asperger's produces people like him and his wonderful creations, we need more of this so called "disorder". Maybe just a different way of seeing and dealing with a not always very friendly or rational world.

Having a child with ASD, yours and other comments give me hope that more of the world will accept and even embrace him and his different ability. (At this point in his young adult life, his ASD is no longer "cute" and kids can be cruel and make him feel like an outcast. You can only imagine what this does to a mother's heart... )
Angela Enoch It sometimes helps to remind kids that no one interesting ever had it easy. I always told my kids that we don't want to be "normal".....we're shooting higher than that. :)
Yeah, the whole "cure autism" movement is really disheartening, and the "vaccines cause autism" thing is a slap in our faces (and a deadly backstep in medical progress). One of the biggest problems I have as an Asperger's adult is people with normal brains refusing to make concessions (or even be educated) about anyone on the spectrum. It's all about being considerate, and I've bent over backwards so many times for people who would never dream of doing the same for me.

He appears to take just as excellent care of the human side of the habitation as the cat's side. I know many cat lovers, and I think that when it comes time to sell the house, some cat lover is going to take this house very seriously!

Wow, this brings joy to my heart. I'm pleased he's able to live in a way that let's him express himself in such a way. Not everyone is so fortunate. People with _Asperger_ who are unable to express these personality traits, or not able to access to the tools that can guide them into channelling them elsewhere, live a life full of discomfort and agitation. Greg Krueger is the ultimate cat person.
