I’m American, but I live in London, and the idea that British people don’t know how to cook burgers is an old cliché. Of course McDonald’s and BK are not ideal examples.

I saute minced onions in the pan before I put the cheese down. I like the onions in there. If I have a thin cheap pan, I heat up the pan, take it off the heat and put the cheese on, I don't leave it directly on heat- then it doesn't stick so fast. You don't actually want the pan to touch nor melt the cheese, you want the grease,butter or oil as the heat catalyst and barrier Don't use soap nor salted butter in your pan!

Oh man i've been doing this with omelets all my life. I make the omelet, fold it in half then grate some cheese on to the top of one side, let it melt a bit, then flip it so its at the bottom caramelasing. Then grate cheese on the other half and flip it again. It gives the omelet a beautiful crusty cheese shell and its just orgasmic.

Not a fan of using untoasted buns like he did, but this is great! Been doing this for burgers at home after toasting the buns in the leftover butter and onion juices in the pan after caramelizing those.
I actually agree with you plus I dont like my cheese "toasty" I like it slightly melted and that's it
He hasn't even baked the burger yet though. It'll only dry out and harden if you toast the bun before you made the burger.

Really? Burnt cheese has been a fad for at least 2 years. It’s like toasting with mayo instead of butter. It’s disgusting, but everyone’s doing it so we have to act like we like it, cause views…

Not all cheeses are salty, especially fresh ones, I’ve had some house made mozzarella that wasn’t salty at all. It just depends

You can also cook the burger until it is done or almost done, place your slice of American or cheddar cheese on top of the burger, then place a thick saute or sauce pan lid over the burger, contacting the pan, and spray water out of a water bottle under the lid, and steam the burger so that the cheese melts. Only do this for three to four seconds. The cheese will melt fast.

I use the heat, from the grill, and put the cheese on top of the burger. Its pretty amazing, because then, guess what, the cheese melts.
