Hi, I was wondering if there won't be any problems if the ssd immediately shuts down as it is connected on the DVD port. Not talking about problems with the drive, but problems with the OS as it is installed there. As far as I know when you shut down your pc windows takes some time to save any work in the background (windows processes for example) so when you power up your pc again there won't be any problems, but as you said in the video, the ssd will shut down immediately or almost immediately. The question is, would that affect the OS?

Hi I have a few questions. Does this work on any laptop with a CD drive? So since we are not putting ssd as main hard disk there won't be a speed increase right (eg. boot time won't decrease)? But you said something about installing OS on the ssd...how is this possible because isnt the ssd the secondary storage? Can you give me a link for some tutorial to do that...(putting os on secondary storage)? So what all programs do you store on Ssd(secondary storage) and what all on hdd(main storage)? And are you strongly against putting HDD on secondary storage? (because elsectricty gets cut off during shut down and because it is vulnerable to force of impact and HDD has mechanical parts so it will go bad)?
The length, breadth and shape of typical 15.6” notebook CD/DVD-drives are usually the same, the most important thing (I believe) to be careful about while buying a caddy is its thickness. Ok so as far as I know and have seen happening to my notebook, if you put your OS in any kind of SSD (irrespective of the port connected to and expecting you have moderate specifications) you’ll notice a huge speed boost in app load and OS boot speeds compared to a HDD especially if you’re using one of those newer OSs (Windows 10 for example) Search in youtube “how to transfer OS to SSD”. Now everyone will use some usb to SATA cable to connect the new SSD. All you have to remember is that your caddy works the same way as their cable. You don’t necessarily have to buy a cable for the transfer process if your SSD doesn’t come with one My OS and all programs are installed in the SSD. Games, pictures, videos, music and other bulk data are in the HDD. The SSD is primary since it contains the OS and (as far as I know) does not depend on the port connected to. MegaMathuu If it's your first time then you have to open it because there is a screw holding the optical drive as you can see at 3:53. Afterwards, you can do it by pulling it out from outside since the caddy doesn't have a screw hold but I don't recommend that because it's too tightly fitted in this slim form factor notebook. Bhai mera laptop (ASUS VIVOBOOK 15) me 4GB RAM & 1TB hai.. Agar me nvme 256gb Ka SSD laga du toh kya booting time and app open karne Ka time Kam lagea ga?? Kuch faida Hoga ki nehi?????
One issue with your guide, if you check the old dvd drive you pulled out there's a latch attached on it with 2 screws on the back, said latch is used to secured the drive to the computer itself using a screw, something you failed to do in this video, meaning the drive can be pulled out from the laptop with relative ease. Bad guide, missing few important steps such securing the caddy to the laptop!
Vash Baldeus If you look carefully the Espada SS95U caddy does not have the latch most probably because of universal compatibility. About the caddy releasing itself, well, the fit is very tight in this slim laptop and I've been personally using this setup for more than a year now, carrying it in my backpack without anything of that sort happening. Also once you've put the plastic cover of the dvd-drive on the caddy it becomes flush with the notebook's surface which makes it even more difficult to pull out accidentally. Hope it helps :)
Deep Roy thing is, the caddy has screw holes right at the same spot where the dvd drive has its latch screwed. meaning you can move it from the dvd drive onto the caddy.
Do not forget to reattach the keyboard and trackpad ribbon cables before assembly :)

If I don't install the operating system on the SDD, and I keep the operating system on the original HDD instead... Will I still see an increase in speed and app performance if I just install the SDD without putting the operating system on it?
Not for the os speed or any app not installed on the ssd directly.
hello I have the same netbook model where I bought it how much this ssd costs and what model it is and then it speeds up the netbook surely right?
Is it compatible with asus k555L
Is the dvd drive to caddy sata 3 ? because if it is not sata 3 then it wont bring full performance. please let me know
Will the SSD drive show up as a Drive in This PC? Will you be able to save files and programs to it?
Hi bro what size of caddy should be used for k555l. 12.7mm height or 9.5mm height?
Did you find out what size it was?

Bro i have same laptop with 1 SSD and 1 HDD but the problem is it's showing only one thing at a time both of them are not working at the same time what should i do??? plz help
I have the same laptop and i've already installed the ssd in the caddy...
But how can i make sure the caddy doesn't fall out?
Why you don't put the HDD in the caddy and then the SSD on the HDD place?
Is that safe if i don't transfer Os with using usb 3.0 cable ,but i tranfer with using direct into Ssd Caddy ?? please reply ,i appreciated it ..
Where can I get the Bracket used to hold the HDD in this Laptop? My hard drive keeps slipping out
What happen to that screw for the cdrom driver? The caddy doesn't need that screw?
thanks for this video, i really want to use caddy to instal ssd but it is true that speed will be limited in cuddy????
I would like to know too
so the ssd stay in caddy and boot from there? the power cut happen in x555 series if you use hdd in caddy?
What does he mean when he says don't add hdd to the caddy ? I mean the os is on ssd and does the hdd shutting down affect anything ?
Great video yaar. But why not just replace the mechanical hard drive and leave the CD ROM?
His laptop has a 1tb hdd and replacing it with an 1tb ssd is very expensive. The method shown in the video is much cheaper and you get to keep the 1tb hdd and upgrade it to 1250gb if you get a 250gb ssd for example. If you frequently use the optical disk drive then the method in the video is obviously not for you, but there is a lot of people who don't use it, and many modern laptops don't include it anymore.
@@ofardo8046 good point. I only use the laptop for school and business stuff maybe light gaming. I think a 500GB would be fine for it.
could you tell me the brand, or maybe the amazon's link to that second ssd/hdd adapter? Thank you
una pregunta amigo al estar instalado el disco ssd como haces para pasar el arranque del sistema operatio al ssd y otra pregunta done compraste los elementos puedes pasar el link gracias
I love your video.realy great
can you tell me what type of LCD inverter in that laptop and where can I locate it? is it below the screen like other laptops?
If I have installed in HDD windows and I put HDD on caddy and in main place SSD, It recognizes windows? or if necessary that main place have SO? I ask it to not make copies and put ubuntu in the SSD and keep all windows in the second. Or is necessary to delete all and install again?
Hi. I just want to ask, I already replaced my main hdd with a SSD (Samsung EVO 850 250GB) Which contains my OS as well as my other files. Im using the exact same laptop as in the video and I want to remove my optical drive and replace it with a caddy, to lengthen the storage space. I am probably gonna get the same one as my main storage or 500GB, or which one do you recommend for SSD? Will it affect any files inside this 2nd storage? If lets say I install steam games to this secondary storage, will there be any sudden power failure? Please advise, Thank you man
WarriorDeAceR Sorry for the late reply. If you want to use 2 SSDs then you have absolutely nothing to worry about. For example, my OS was in the SSD and so was my steam client but my r6 siege game files were in the HDD and it worked without any issue. Hope it helps :)
Deep Roy Thank you!
Hi there,so You recommend to not have the hdd on the hdd caddy? My main hdd slot has a ssd already. So wanted to expand storage by replacing the cd drive to hdd caddy and have a hdd in it instead. Pls advise! Thanks!
did you did it, it works fine? im trying to do the same
Its dangerous to use HDD Caddy as boot. bcus caddy need to be set as removable drive
Hi, why it's not useful to put the switch the places between the ssd and the hard drive?
Can yku tell me the ssd model ? Or where can i buy it?. Thanks
did you install a windows 10 on that SSD on the caddy?
how to transfer official OS (window 10) file to SSD? please teach me .
Aziem Abdullah I've used a program called "Minitool Partition Wizard". In the program there is an option called "Transfer OS to SSD". This worked fine for me.
dude just to thanks to you, i'm really really appreciate that what you done to me. tq dude.. i give u 5star.
Aziem Abdullah You're welcome. Glad I could help :)
Do I need to transfer the OS from the HDD to the SSD? Or can I install the empty SSD and then install the windows on it?
Thanks.
Leonardo Brandão Gonçalves Both methods are fine. Sorry for the late reply, I missed the notification :)
Deep Roy I was install. Work perfectly, thanks

Brother is 9.5 mm caddy is compatible with asus a555l series laptop?
Thanks bro.
can i ask if you can PUT an EXTERNAL gpu with this laptop..?
Friend my laptop's Asus a555lf xx406t seems to be slower with windows 10 and faster with windows 7 what's happening although it comes pre-installed with windows 10 but I have to dual boot with win 7 so I can get faster boot time and faster app reload time
I recommend to you to look for 'Windows10Debloater-master' and execute it in PowerShell to stop aka delete a lot of useless stuff included in windows 10, just look for a tutorial
Is there any way to change (maybe from BIOS) that DVD port so our machine can detect it is a hard drive port, not an optical dvd drive port?
Adrian I don't think I've seen such an option in the BIOS
Deep Roy wow. Thanks for your fast respond. By the way, are you sure that it's danger to place hdd in optical drive slot? Cause I've seen so many methods that say it's better to place ssd in hdd bay (as system file installation) while hdd should be placed in optical drive (as data storage)
Adrian That setup will work but it might not be good for the HDD. I tried doing that and I've noticed the sound of suddenly cutting the power of the HDD, that is, inside the HDD the read and write arm resetting to it's default position in an instant resulting in a scratching sound while shutting down the computer every single time but in the current SATA port before shutting down the HDD is given time to reset its internal components before power is cut. In one word, that port is designed for a mechanical HDD. For an SSD though it doesn't matter much when you cut it's power since it doesn't have mechanical parts inside. Hope it helps :)
How should I take out it's cover? I can't (DVD driver)
Mera Asus X555l series h Kon sai size ka caddy order karu ...plz rply
Do you have a link to the exact SSD’s You can fit in this laptop
A standard 2.5 SSD would fit .. most of the SSDs you see SSDs are 2.5 SSDs .. although you'll need to buy the caddy seperately
Can you replace the hdd with ssd instead of removing the disk drive
Yes with mssd , but it's rare , more expensive and not has good

Hello dear can I change the memory ram that's come with the laptop the original one
I wanna to ask u something thats asus x507uf laptop body case available in market
you can put the caddy without open all the PC ... but well , good video
MZM Just showed the how to open process for the people who might need. Thanks for your kind words though :)
So it's better to carefully open the notebook to replace it. Hope it helps :)
MegaMathuu Pleasure :)

I just buy a ssd and a caddy yesterday, i have planned to replace my old hdd with this ssd and put the hdd into the caddy. So what do you think ? Should i dont replace the hdd and just put the ssd into the caddy ?
Hi, does it work correctly? :)
its better if you make ssd as your primary i guess
hello can you help me i cant find the intel core because i want to change it
what screwdriver size would I need to use?
Bro I have same laptol from 3years now it is very slow I also want to do it
Hi. I replaced my HDD with an SSD in my laptop (asus x555lf) and my bios and windows installer doesnt see it. What do you think whats the problem and how to solve it? The ssd is working ive checked on my desktop :)
Maybe de SSD isn't compatible with your motherboard
I see,so you add a ssd. but I have already two hard drives. I don't know if my odd slot is free or not.
If the ODD is present in the notebook there is a big chance that you can replace it with a SSD with the help of a caddy.
will data lost? or we need to back up ?
Can u send as the link f saan mo nabili ang caddy?
Bhai mera laptop (ASUS VIVOBOOK 15) me 4GB RAM & 1TB hai..

Kuch faida Hoga ki nehi?????
Vivobook 15 series already comes with ssd isn't it ?
is it possible to install two OS with this configuration?
What is the size of your caddy 9.5 mm or 12.7 mm (thickness) ?
9.5mm, seen at 4:12
5:27 how to unplug that bezel from optical drive? you forgot to mention that
Prashant Chaudhary Sorry, I forgot to record that but at 0:14 I've shown where the clips go. Hope it helps :)
How can I make the ssd in the caddy bootable. I am not getting the option, I have a similar r5558uq
did you found the solution?
Is it the same caddy for the x555dg?
Which SATA gen port is used for DVD in Asus X555LN?
SATA 1, 2 or 3?
Have you figure this out? I have the same unit.
@@sfermdc I have the same question. Did you find the answer?
Deep Roy thing is, the caddy has screw holes right at the same spot where the dvd drive has its latch screwed. meaning you can move it from the dvd drive onto the caddy.
thanks a lot ..
can you tell me how to transfer the os? thanks alot
Стоп, на место дисковода ссд поставил?
