  • Whilst cruising the tidal river Dordtse Kil, I hear sounds I only heard at sea. And then when I am in the Dordrecht area all of a sudden the operator of the Vessel Traffic Center has some busy moments and we are part of it.

Cams aboard Lady Liselot. Check them out on Amazon: amzn.to/3P5jFxP (but the silly thing is: these amzn.to/3T1AYB2 almost are alike).
The 4 camera's I use to produce my outdoor footage, are so called PTZ - P(an) T(ilt) Z(oom). Zoom, I only use on the rear camera, when I am underway. As you have seen I use the pan and tilt a lot. And in the dark they produce a great (short view) infrared image. I even can navigate in a marina at night on my cams.
Since they all are so called "IP camera's", each have an unique (hardwired) IP address (no DNS) in my network.

This channel follows a format: "Join Henk-Jan, whilst he cruises on motorvessel Lady Liselot through The Netherlands and a little further". That's it. This automatically means: no boat tour and no boat jobs. These subjects do not fit the format. So, I aim to give you a feel for what life's like aboard for me and hope you enjoy it, perhaps relate to it or maybe even learn something. But it's simply my story and the way I do things. Nothing more, nothing less.
    Do not forget to:

    Nederlands.

We really like to hear the radio traffic even though it is in Dutch. :) It helps us learn Dutch. :) Hearing the traffic is educational from a navigational point of view so we are glad you left the radio conversations in the video. Perfectly understandable to NOT edit the video to put in the English translations. That is too much work. Your translations as it happens works just as well.
We had a wonderful vacation in Dordrecht recently and it was very interesting to see parts of the city from the water. We were excited to recognize various places in the city. :)

I for one would like to hear more about what you see when cruising along. Your comment on the fuel/water boat is a good example, that's interesting but I would like to know more. Do you have to be moored to take advantage of their service or can you do a "replenishment at sea" exercise? It would also be nice to have some details about that huge lift bridge in Dordrecht, and what was that futuristic building at the end of this Wednesday's vlog? Was it the vessel traffic management centre you were talking to on the VHF?

Enjoying your back catalog of videos, but I have to ask; what are the cookies you have at coffee time. It’s unlikely I can buy them in the UK, but the spelling would help my search. Happy travels!

A Big Mergpijp cookie consists of biscuit dough with a filling of raspberry jam and butter cream. This is covered with marzipan and with the ends dipped in chocolate.
Google for mergpijp cookie and you will find out that these are also available as dog food, but as you can imagine I promote the cake version.
