Hey Nomad, I've found a way to get out of the suction of a Duskfield. You can jump into the suction and because of that, you can launch yourself out before the slow takes effect.
_Posted this on the last one so I'm sending it here too with some rewording_ *I needed this!* I loved the entire series and I just now began to realize how good the advice is. While you were summing up what the previous episodes were about I began to realize that I started doing those things subconsciously even without keeping the tips themselves in mind. I can feel that this is definitely the next step for me along with regular aim practice for shot and overall consistency. Thank you for your content and for making me smile with the occasional jokes. You were the one who set me off on a path of improvement and I'm extremely grateful for that. Looking forward to all your future uploads!
I really needed to hear this message this morning. Mental health has kept me away from the game for a month and I'm working on things IRL that also need this message. Thanks Nomad.
Myself and a couple of mates have decided to have a go at Trials. I know, our timing is literally amazing 😂 We’re practicing together in Comp and working on our communication, getting used to each other’s play styles and re-learning maps. However I just wanted to thank you for your advice. There’s nothing out there quite like it. In a crucible meta like this it’s ridiculously easy to get “tilted”, your focus just goes up in smoke and you’re straight into that death spiral of scrub mentality and the inevitable result is a loss. In these situations I try to remember that I’m here to learn and that usually helps me get centred and back on track. And that’s mainly down to your good self. So thanks 👍
just a tip for practicing with a trials team in comp. when i play comp with my trials team we treat each round of comp as 2 elimination rounds. we work for a pick then try wipe the team rather then repeatedly playing for a single pick. of course this lacks the revives but has helped us become more confident in 3v2 and 2v2s because we get that practice. this may be something you are already implementing in your game but i thought it could be useful. ps ik this isnt the most effective way to win but as a team we are practicing on our aggressiveness so if your just working on winning as a team this may not be the best tip
@@KINGREAPER950 Really good advice and thank you for taking the time. You’re spot on, we are at that early team-building stage, so just spending time as a team is still productive at the moment. However, I take your point. Survival isn’t Trials and there’s no point picking up potentially bad habits along with the good ones. I’ll definitely be suggesting we give your strategy a go!
@@nickbarton6022 glad i could help man. seams like you guys are going about it the right way most trials teams dont realise how important team chemistry is. once you guys have that down you will have a stronger foundation then most teams out there. if your all committed you guys will be at the light house in no time at all. wish you luck man
I must say after watching your 101 videos, I've been feeling more consistent. I usually just jump into enemies while crossing my fingers "ohh I hope they don't shotgun me first", but now I play a little more slowly and getting consistent positive K/D, so thanks, I needed the wake up call.
I solo'd Legend last season because during the week I played elim to work on my game. That consistency helped me so much in the higher ranked games in survival. This man is speaking facts people
Ascendant Nomad, you've outdone yourself yet again. You are simply amazing. You deserve more recognition man, the quality of these videos relative to your subscriber count is just insane. Much love from a disciple from your videos.
literally re-listened to the first 4 secs a few times to let the message sink in. Your content has helped me loads both in and out of the game. Thanks Nomad.
Good to have you back to being a calming and positive teacher Nomad. Your tips have been really helpful for me. I found myself approaching the enemies in Control through the shortest path and leaving myself open to fire from both sides. After the inevitable death I stopped and thought about how I should have used my radar to work out where they were, approach from an angle where no-one would be on my flanks and where I would have cover to fall back to and block their team mates shots whilst I duelled the first guy. Next I did just that and got a 6 kill streak (unheard of for a 0.93 K/D noob). Keep up the great work
Thanks Nomad. This came up for me right after a couple of extremely frustrating games. You have a talent for putting things in the right perspective while sharing extremely helpful advice. It's very much appreciated.
*_This one goes out to all of you trying to discredit the tips in the video:_* "Oh no, stasis is broken, I got instantly killed by it without being able to do anything even though I played everything perfectly" If you think this is a justifiable opinion, please read on. Let me paint you a picture, what would've happened if, after some sound cues pointing to stasis, you just left the area and rotated to a different part of the map? What if you simply rotated out to be in a more advantageous position where your own gun can win over theirs. What if you relocated somewhere where you can play your strengths instead of being there as stasis target practice? Or what it you retreated just enough to regroup with your team and teamshot the enemy player instead? These are all factors you're in control of but you didn't pick the right one of them and ended up dying as a result. If you actually want to improve, how about you instead look deeper into your gameplay instead of criticizing the enemies' surface-level strategy and the features the game has? Why do you think some good players still use mid tree voidwalker? I can guarantee you it's not because the subclass is broken but instead because they have learned to play its strengths. Why do you think people can still thrash a lobby while using sub-par loadouts and stat distributions? Could it be because they know how to position themselves to best combat what the enemies throw at them? Want to counter shurikens? Learn the angles on the map and go to a place where they have a hard time bouncing it to you. Want to counter duskfields? Corners, they can't suck you if your hitbox hits a wall. No corner? You should've rotated to one, you knew what the enemy had after all. Since you were "playing everything perfectly", you know their loadout from paying attention. You can combat that if you have the information. I know there aren't many people saying this but it annoys me to no end seeing people simply discredit Nomad because of, well, ignorance.
Sorry bro I’m part of the destiny community where we don’t use our heads. It’s not my fault that I’m aping with a titan when I’m using stasis for the hunter to shatter dive me. It’s not my. It’s stasis and not my felwinter. It’s not my fault that I use mask of bakris when I’m running in a straight line then teleport into a shotgun. Shotguns need a nerf. It’s not my fault I icarus dash into a shotgun even tho 2 handcannon shots hit me. It’s never my fault so stop blaming me
@@kirkland_Reid Oh, I'm terribly sorry, I was wrong. Please forgive this lowly one for not opening my eyes the the greatness that is the truth your message encompasses.
A few months ago, these steps are exactly what got me consistent with Scout Rifles. Now they're my favorite weapons (even if they're not meta). So glad to have something tangible to help me develop other consistent habits!
A friend has a serious scrub mentality and i doubt he is ever going to get out of it and actually believe me when i try to help them unless i show the results of your game sense videos. Thankyou for this video you've helped me appreciate the game more then I already did
Thanks a lot for the video. I am trying my best to get good at destiny 2 and fps games in general. I look to you content creators in times of darkness when I am being inconsistent and not doing well and everytime I come out a man with a sense of hope and positivity. Thanks a lot nomad. Best of luck for you!!
One last point I would add to this video. For me the most important one: Have fun. If you enjoy your time playing everything will be so much easier. Even in a bad game, enjoy the one situation you handled good. Enjoy funny situations, doesn't matter but have fun. This one alone helped me so much. But that's also the reason I don't really touch PvP anymore because even when I perform good, more often than not I can't ejoy it with the current state. But once it gets better .... hell I'm gonna grind PvP out like hell 😆
Again, some really excellent work here mate. I'm gonna watch all of these again, as they're that good. Gonna start doing at least an hour a day in PvP for a month to see how much I can improve myself. Will report back!
I'm glad that I am fairly consistent The only inconsistency I struggle with is aiming at enemies at close range No matter though, they all somehow keep dying to double melee or my fighting lion I love it
This helped so much . I'd be an insane player for like a month or 2 like really good , then become trash for like 2 months and then repeat . But now I'm good every month . Thanks
A think a good way to chart your progress if you cant record your games is to record your stats in an excel spreadsheet for each game, then after months of playing and data collection, you can make a graph to see the trendline of your progress
Hey, you’ve helped me a lot in the Crucible. My K/D may not be skyrocketing or anything but I have noticed that I am consistently happier with my performance. When I play Control, I swear I always know what control point is about to be pushed 30 seconds in advance. I die less often to suddenly-2v1s. I’ve ninja-capped at perfect times and swung a match in our team’s favor during moments I wouldn’t have thought to do so before. You’ve opened my mind to the *process* of play, of which I would likely have never picked up on otherwise. Thank you, Doc. ...Got a cure for my Felwinter’s Lie impotency, though? I’m starting to think there should be a video on how to win shotgun duels. The secret? It’s chip damage.
Load into a game of crucible or whatever game you want to get good at (make sure it’s not a ranked playlist you’ll see why). Now that you are in do NOT go and run at bad guy to get kill. Don’t engage at all. Just spawn in and watch the game play out where your team, where the enemy team spawns and pushes from, who dies where and where the position of players forces them to spawn, etc. basically you can spend the entire game being aware of what is happening and what will happen since will not tunnel vision on getting kills
Practicing with the loadouts you're used to game after game has made me a better player. I don't go for the meta, except for using felwinter's. Even then, I'm hoping to get a better shotty soon. But I'll be so glad for the day they somehow nerf shotguns into oblivion and remove range from hand cannons
One rule I live by is “if ur teammate Is with you then it’s not where you want to be” then I go fight a 1v3 and I learn to fight multiple people at once. I gotta be at the top of the leaderboard with the highest KAD, feels good to get away with it and I’m becoming consistent at it
hey nomad i really like your videos and i think for people who are getting into pvp they are amazing. However, for watching, i feel like people may start to develop a more passive play style. i would love to see a video about aggressive play making and how to be confident while being realistic. being able to confidently push while understanding the risks is what i feel has helped me imprive from a 0.5kd to a 1.5 over the past 2-3 season. great work though keep it up
This is why I sort of miss punnacle weapons quest. Ut gave me motivation to get good. I returned to Destiny a few weeks ago and have been terrible at crucible. My KD is in shambles which affects groups that will allow me to play with them.
Wow you covered completely what have I been thinking of doing. But doing it during a live stream, "Live Coaching" Amazing content Ascendant Nomad. I think you be better at live coaching...pretty much commentate whats going on your thought process while doing the movement a or 2 second behind.
I actively play subclasses that are weak and practice sniping right now. I actively try to handicap myself to develop a game sense while sniping. If i were playing stasis i feel like i would have it to easy to hit alot of shots
I would like to blame Ascendant Nomad for the fact that the skill ceiling in crucible is way higher recently. That and maybe the fact that people are staying home and playing all day now...
I can attest to progress over time. In life and destiny. I didn't start off deadlifting 500lbs or squatting 405. It was a little at a time over a few years. For destiny, I struggled for a long time in pvp. This season, I finally hit a 1.1 kd in comp. It happens folks
I really hope I learn something. I've been playing Destiny for a while and its frustrating never being able to consistently win games or feel confident in doing PvP catralyst quests
Great vid, and incredible series. Question: You mention that you should be using stasis, and that using anything else is a form of scrub mentality. I'm a hardcore Warlock main. I don't mess with the other classes. I feel like Shadebinder is (at best) the 3rd best option for Warlock in 3v3, but maybe a touch higher in 6v6. Does this mean to abandon my class and go with Revenant or Behemoth, or am I right to stay with Dawnblade or Chaos Reach?
Good question! Scrub mentality was cited more as an example to show the people who have "too much honour" to use Stasis how ridiculous they sound. Scrub mentality in its full definition boils down to "play to win, nothing else matters." If you have greater success on Dawnblade or Chaos Reach than Shadebinder, use it. Everyone's version of peak performance is different, the majority would benefit greatly from Stasis. That's all.
Piggy backing off Nomad to also mention that HAVING FUN is most important. If you feel you more engaged, having more fun, and have more patience, use that. If you are having more fun, despite knowing you’re at a disadvantage because you’re using x instead of y, then use that. You’re more likely to adapt and get better when you’re, at least, mildly enjoying the process. Don’t use something else ONLY because someone else says it’s better even though you don’t feel better. But if you’re complaining or harboring resentment because you’re using what you interpret as an “obsolete” class and not having fun, but refuse to adapt or try other things, THAT is scrub mentality
@@AscendantNomad Got it. Fair point and something I've always struggled with. I never wanted to be the person using something that I viewed as "damaging" to the game. I threw that mentality away when pushing for Unbroken. "Use whatever, don't apologize". Cheers.
I main Hunter and do use Stasis, but feel a bit bored about the "non gunplay/gunskill" kills I get. Love using upper tree Nightstalker, because if I succeed in a match using that subclass, all my kills are from weapons. @Nomad: can this be an effective way of learning game sense and several other of the skills you are teaching?
I started playing with a group of friends who played nothing but crucible back then my kda was .5 and I had the mind set that I wouldn't be better, a year and a half later my kda skyrocketed to 1.49 and still climbing I am aiming for 2.0 and now I have the mind set of I can win most of my fights if I play my cards right and if I die then I made a mistake somewhere
this is what i always tell my clan mates that ask me how i "got gud" at crucible - you just gotta play the game and just not give a shit about all the "bullshit" in the game, because you can improve independent of a meta.
I am very below average in crucible, because i dont usually play pvp in any game at all. My playing any map is usually the reason why the team loses. Once other players know they can one tap me then they all gang up on me, and when the opposing team gets 40 or more points in supremacy with about 1 minute to 30 seconds left I just sit down and give up.
You’re basically hunting other players, it’s a cat and mouse game. Game sense in FPS basically boils down to knowing when to be the cat or the mouse in a moment to moment scenario.
Hey Ascendant, I just heard your recent episode on Guardian downcast & im one of the Canadian listeners. Would love to get into conversation with you sometime
Hey ascending. Definitely just the upload time because I immediately went into the crucible and did the things you said and took in the parts of the previous videos from the series. Dropped consistent 20+ games and finished the night on a 45 bomb. Do you still analysis people's gameplay btw?
what do you suggest an individual do when they achieve over 20 kills average and get placed on teams where their own teammates reside under a 0.9? This is the only handicap I continuously run into. I'll be flying nice and demolishing the enemy team but my own teammates are the ones that are tanking me, as they do not understand how to properly play the game? I suppose I could LFG or look for a clan, but I enjoy the game as a solo player and I feel as though my complaint is probably the only one that can track for multiple people.
I just know you're going to spit fax. But there comes a point where you can't do sweats (3s) and compete properly because all these latino friends of mine have ps5's. Basically, I have to three tap with my dire every engagement but i just know they see me slowmotion on their ps5.
I am new to the idea of scrims. I only have one other I consistently play PvP with. How can I get involved with scrims? I have joined discord but have no idea where to start.
God, I love your content. You speak truth with the advice of stop blaming everything. I get tilted way to fast from the obvious few things in PvP..Time to stop I guess.

I actively play subclasses that are weak and practice sniping right now. I actively try to handicap myself to develop a game sense while sniping. If i were playing stasis i feel like i would have it to easy to hit alot of shots
So glad I found you in my recommendations
Great explanation. Thank you very much
Love the content, hopefully you can find a new game to apply it too.
I would like to blame Ascendant Nomad for the fact that the skill ceiling in crucible is way higher recently. That and maybe the fact that people are staying home and playing all day now...
This video goes beyond destiny 2, it applies to IRL, invaluable.
Thanks for the great video!
Excellent content
Cheers.
Chaos and dawn are the next best class before Rev and behemoth sp yes use them instead of shadebinder
He has a point on the felwinters
Any thoughts as to what game mode is good for building consistency/game snese?
this is what i always tell my clan mates that ask me how i "got gud" at crucible - you just gotta play the game and just not give a shit about all the "bullshit" in the game, because you can improve independent of a meta.
man the free headshot from duality at 6:21, shot the shoulder and got a headshot xDD
Remember: practice isn't perfect, practice is consistent
Learned this from 5th grade band class
Thank you
honestly the scrub mentality seems a lot more healthier than sweating out in each lobby not having fun at all
I am very below average in crucible, because i dont usually play pvp in any game at all. My playing any map is usually the reason why the team loses. Once other players know they can one tap me then they all gang up on me, and when the opposing team gets 40 or more points in supremacy with about 1 minute to 30 seconds left I just sit down and give up.
What shader were u using on your messenger pulse...it’s nice
You’re basically hunting other players, it’s a cat and mouse game. Game sense in FPS basically boils down to knowing when to be the cat or the mouse in a moment to moment scenario.
the re drop!!
Dope!!
Weapons are Temporary but Game Sense is Forever
Metas are temporary. Game sense is forever.
He does on streams
@@Balazs_ thanks 👍🏿do you know where to send them to?
I’m confused, is this a re-upload? I could’ve sworn I watched this video yesterday.
Yes, details are here: th-cam.com/users/AscendantNomad1community
@@AscendantNomad oh I see, that makes sense. Some reason I didn’t see the community post. 😅
what do you suggest an individual do when they achieve over 20 kills average and get placed on teams where their own teammates reside under a 0.9? This is the only handicap I continuously run into. I'll be flying nice and demolishing the enemy team but my own teammates are the ones that are tanking me, as they do not understand how to properly play the game? I suppose I could LFG or look for a clan, but I enjoy the game as a solo player and I feel as though my complaint is probably the only one that can track for multiple people.
What's the title of the third video in this list? I can't seem to find it. I've found 1 2 and this one
I just know you're going to spit fax. But there comes a point where you can't do sweats (3s) and compete properly because all these latino friends of mine have ps5's. Basically, I have to three tap with my dire every engagement but i just know they see me slowmotion on their ps5.
I'll gladly watch this a second time
It's my shots that gets me
And that is what i call life coach
I am new to the idea of scrims. I only have one other I consistently play PvP with. How can I get involved with scrims? I have joined discord but have no idea where to start.
I am consistent. Consistently at the top of the scoreboard.
I blame the Duskfield Nades because I was behind cover and just got sucked without any warning...
No pun intendet
What pulse is that?
am i the only one addicted to that opening tune?
song is Nevada by Vicetone if you're interested
how do people make the custom character models for the thumbnails?
I work with a member of the Destiny Model Ripping community. They take the game assets and manipulate them in blender.
God, I love your content. You speak truth with the advice of stop blaming everything. I get tilted way to fast from the obvious few things in PvP..Time to stop I guess.
Time to buy some Lysol. Hope they have 10L bottle available for me
I’m really bad at strafing with mnk I can’t hit anything I have to stand still. Smh I’m going back to controller. At least I can land a shot before I see my ghost 😂
I agree with this but unfortunately i can't just pour hours into crucible.
