- Now I know I've done a LOT to my ace 250 and it has taken it all and been VERY good to me. BUT, it was time for an upgrade. My first fisher (the 1235x) impressed me so much I had to go a little bigger. I picked this one because of it "not the normal frequency" that it has and the fact that I might "see/hear" things other have not due to the fact that it punches deeper at a different frequency. Thanks slick, the "iron grunt" is another reason I got it, kind of like it's own iron audio but threw discrimination rather than a ferrious signature circuit.

Sweet md..your going to love that thing.I have used a fisher f2 with a DD coil ..I liked it..but I like the sound the one you got makes and its just way better then a f2.I got my at pro used. .I like saving cash to ..good mds are to much $$$..

we had a mini thaw on saturday but all that did was turn half my drivway into thick sticky mud which we drove on and made ruts, then last night it froze that way and were getting 6-8" of snow in a couple days....grrrr. thanks buddy.
Hahaha! You made me laugh, that was the best unboxing ever.. I have a teknetics with the vco and 11" coil so ill be watching how you get on with your new machine with interest.
Hope you get out soon I know how frustrating the weather can be, my permissions (UK) have been flooded since xmas until a couple of weeks ago... grr!

Colorful audio. I like that term and it dose apply when you know your machine. I have my unboxing coming in a few days. I didn't want to afford the F75, so I settled on a Omega 8000, very similar to this machine. Of course mine doesn't have the VCO392R Oscillating upgrade, but it dose change frequencies and starts out around 19, and because I dig mid tones what you described is of interest to me. Good deal Jay hope to see you soon. I'm off tomorrow and 50 degrees is predicted, so I may go out hunting.
I was psyced when I heard you say you were picking up an Omega, that's cool. I have some new permissions and a lead on another few as well so we could stay as busy as we want to for years man. See ya out there.
The Gamma is at $300 on ebay and the Whites is still at $125, so thats how I paid for the unit. I'm keeping my 13" and 5" coils to use on the 8000. It comes with a concentric coil I think ;( I have one new permission I can bring someone to and one in Concard MA.
Nice machine buddy. I cant wait to see you use it. I have a bounty hunter 4. Its cool but like any man I wish I had a better one. LOL I went detecting at the park last week but only found penny's and walked around my backyard yesterday but didn't find anything but nails and a piece of pipe.
Hey at least your getting out, now just get a little further out and hit the old farms, old woods and stuff. Make a day of it, the BH4 isn't a bad machine it'll get you coins at 6-7 inches no problem, relics even deeper. Then record it and upload for all of us to see lol... That's how I posted my first video, i talked about what i found and that was not good enough for this community, they demanded proof lol. Good luck out there John.

Russ has a great line of used machines, usually about 25%-50% off retail. Tell him I sent you, it won't help but still, lol. Nah, he's a great guy and will hook you up with an awsome machine at a sweet price. good luck buddy.
The Fisher goldbug is the detector that keithie6 uses. Should do you a fine job. Congrats.
Thomas McNeill Thanks Thomas, I've heard great things about this machine and (more the reason I got it) about Fishers VCO in these things and the 15-20khz being able to "see" the differences between gold/aluminum/nickle range.

Thanks Lieven, the gold bug pro is fishers "equal" to the AT Gold (unless you ask AT users and they'll tell you how inferiou it is haha, and that ONLY the Deus comes close, lol not you but some others) and it's not water proof....yet haha. THanks for watching.

Using the right disc is crucial..(smaller is better for high kHz in my humble untrained opinion..)
Have tested my AT Gold (18kHz instead of the 15 from the Pro). Very different than my AT Pro, but good on very deep and small targets..what I wanted. Will still be using the AT Pro as primary equipment, but when I find something really good , I will dig up every beep with the AT Gold, to be sure I got everything out (using the AT Gold constantly would mean gettting used to a different machine again..) Find good stuff with the AT Pro so I'm not changing anymore for the time being.. :)

I've had the gold bug dp a while,fast responsive detector,battery lasts longer on all metal mode.

Have you heard about the new F19? looks like this same body style but i've no clue about it's specs or what ever, just saw that some one posted a pic of about 5 different colors of it (camo, pink camo, slate etc...).
Yep, more designer metal detectors. We are going to lose our reputation as buff men of action. I heard it's basically a re-branded Gold Bug. I think Fisher has suffered because of that name, most people associating it with the Gold Bug 2 when it is actually a great general purpose and relic machine.. I think it is a marketing gimmick but you know me, I will take a close look at it when it pops up.

They make a volume control to put inline on your headphones or small speakers. On Amazon for anywhere from $8 - $15 bucks. The small jack anyway
I've got an inline volume control on the ACE250 that i'll put on the gold bug, just a headphone extension with a pot wheel. Big lots had ear buds with volume control for $5 too. Thanks dude.
Nice machine! Thanks for the rundown on the frequencies and how they work. I know my Minelab 305 runs at 7.5 khz. I do get frustrated with the parity that it allows for pulltabs and nickels. But hey, I have an AWESOME pull tab collection.
The two other miscreants I detect with use bounty hunters. One has an older unit and the other has the Platinum. The platinum is very loud in all metal. I am thinking he has it set wrong. I do like the addition of the smaller headphone jack, unfortunately mu friend does not want to use his. You can hear him a mile away! It is helpful when he wanders off and you have to find him.

If you wan the foam handle to stay clean, white athletic tape from a drug store works great and leaves no sticky residue. Just wrap it up, and when it looks disgusting, take it off and re wrap it.
That Platinum is the same housing and some of the same audio as this, and yes it is LOUD. he probable doesn't use head phones 'cuz it's too loud, good to know you can find him easy, like putting a bell on a cat. It's not GPS it DPS, Detectorist Position Sensor (or what ever you want D to be lol.). thanks.

ilove my f4 but that DD that came on mine was cracked or something water was a no no!!!!!!!!!!! but im sending it in asap to get fixed or whatever she needs! that's a cool detector I didn't realize it was such a high frequency HH....GL
Yeah, they should hook you up no prob. Did you buy it new or "previously loved" like mine? Sux you had a hard time with it right off the bat though.
new I talked to fisher labs he said they cut and glue something on the older ones but I bought mine last spring so kinda confused me a bit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I told him I wasn't sure how old he was talkin he said it was pry an older one in the warehouse I told him I payed what is a lot of money to me so if anything is old to please make it new! he said he would so we will see I can promise 30 min after it comes home it will be in the stream lol
I ordered one as well, last week, ask a friend of mine to purchase it, since i am in Philippines. I ask my american friend, to buy it and bring it to Philippines, I heard this device can detect the smallest gold, with the small coil.

Oh yes, My area has a lot of river, and yes nobody has a Gold bug hehehe in my country, i would shop gold and rings all around hehehehe.. by the way what is the numbers if it hits gold ring any tip friend
It comes with a book that tells you the basics but gold could be anyway between 49 & 54 but if it's jewelry it could ring up funny due to shape and it might have other metal on it. I'm only a few hours with mine so no expert.
