I love the Star Trek ships from Eaglemoss. But I am beyond annoyed with the continuous QC issues regarding paint misalignments, parts not being glued on straight or not glued on at all, missing paint apps, and sculpting errors. This company needs to get their act together like yesterday! As for this channel, I love the honesty here. Great guys.
Has this been an issue from the beginning or has recently started?
@@Andrew-zv4fm I don't know how long exactly it has been an issue, but it has been a problem on a number of their releases. Some, like the 1701-A XL have the wrong font size, and the Prober 1701-C is missing half of its paint apps. Window paint misalignment has been the most common issue on a number of releases. And it's sad because these really are beautiful little pieces. To be fair, there are quite a few excellent releases as well. My Voyager XL is flawless. But I'm beginning to become more reluctant to buy more as the ones I like at $45+ seem to have issues.
I too am in love with their XL models and haven't had any issues yet. So far I have the Enterprise XCV, Defiant, Akira, Orville and DS9. I have a whole whack of discounted Disco-era ships coming in too. Hoping the quality keeps up!
Looking at the saucer section from above, I can't help but start to think - "In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night, No Evil Shall Escape My Sight..." I know, it's a bit of a reach, but it screams out. Love this design, too.

It's a shame the ambassador class wasn't used more.
For $75, there really needs to be some better quality control.
Steve - It's shockingly bad man. I'm really getting sick of it. The longer the collection goes on the worse their quality control seems to get.
Are all of Eagelmoss' models that bad or just this one.
I am considering getting a few of them like only Enterprise models. At least as a start.
I take it this is not the first review from Trekyards on Eagelmoss models.
@@Andrew-zv4fm Some are better than others, but generally there will be some sort of QC issue with the majority of models. Wonky nacelles and poor Paint jobs are the most common.
Also the displaystands damage the models. Too tight. You scratch the model by placing it on the stand.
Love the Ambassador class like you it's one of my favourite ship designs. This the next ship I would like in the XL collection

LOL, I don't hate you Cpt Foley. The Enterprise C was always my favorite after first seeing it, but I wish they could have made the engine Pylons more like the ones on Proberts. The Engine pylons are the only thing I didn't like about the Ambasador class. I wish they could have thought it up sooner in the series also instead of using the Excelsior's so much. I'm ordering one each of these babies though. They will look scant compared to my 1/72 scale Romulan Bird of Prey though.
Doh, it's missing the lower secondary hull phaser strip on the belly and the saucer shuttle bay. Same problems are present on the smaller Enterprise C. The smaller model is missing the back 2 smaller phaser strips on the saucer, but this one has those at least. Smaller one doesn't have the impulse engine either. Still looks good.
I noticed your bent nacelle on first glance. Ouch. 13:22, my nacelles are spot on, I'm assuming you glued yours in place?
I love this ship and Probert version as well. Need to see more of these ships somehow.

I know why the nacelle isn't glued, it's actually a "damaged" Enterprise-C.

I'd like to see a dreadnaught version of the Ambassador class as well.
I was always a bit perturbed by the TNG episode in which the Enterprise D encounters the Enterprise C, and they act like she is an antiquated rust bucket. E-C is one really cool starship....
I love the c like you captain it really grew on me and I cant wait for the diamond select version that will be epic.

oh nice! The 1791-C is my favourite ship of the line in all of Star Trek and I've wanted a good model of it for a long time despite my not being very good at the fine detail work required for model kits.
I've always loved the ambassador class and always loved the concept of it to. Always wished it was used much more

Love the three nacelle idea but with some tweaking a four nacelle design would also just be fabulous!
Lighting's fine. It does make you look a bit more pale, but the ship looks good.
This is one of the few XL's I'd consider getting, but they're still a bit too expensive for the paint alignment issues.
There was no saucer impulse engine on the filming model, but yeah it really should have had them in the design.
Eaglemoss messes up attaching nacelles all the time. My original size D had an un attached nacelle. My original NX-01 had BOTH nacelles detached. My TOS Ent had a missing nacelle too.
I think you’ve sold me on this one.
You should pick up a second C and take that loose Nacelle and make a Dreadnaught version yourself.

Use some Gorilla Superglue for the nacelle then should be good to go.
I've seen this XL from other reviews....there's windows missing on the top saucer if you examine it to the photos of the original studio model.
At least they got the size of the registry number on the lower saucer the correct size. That was the one thing that bugged the hell out of me with the AMT/ERTL and especially the Round 2 kit they NEVER got the size of that decal right, especially when you look at the studio model photos.
The arrow head and striping on the secondary hull is sitting up way too high. Wrong decals on the engine pylons...not straight up and down parts but the flat parts before going up to the bent one.
Also the pylons seem to narrow, and the neck below the impulse engine is missing windows. I like the AMT kits MUCH better!

I have read on the comments section of this review that Eagelmoss models have issues. Is this something that happened recently or has been happening since the beginning?
Andrew Probert's version IS THE superior design for an Enterprise-C.
I am hoping Eaglemoss will do a proper XL version of his Enterprise-C design.

The Enterprise C is also one of my favorites. I've always thought that it looked like a combination of the Enterprise refit/A, B and D. I didn't know there was the Probert concept for this ship. But I'm glad they didn't go with it. I do have the same TOS Enterprise diagram picture behind you. Did you get yours at Hobby Lobby? That's where I got mine. They had a new one this past Christmas. A holographic 3D starships of Star Trek.
I just received mine and it's got a air bubble in the red buzzard scoop thingy. Anyone else get air bubbles in the front of the nacelles?
You just get a lazy susan so you can use it as a turntable to show these for the videos. set it on an end table or any level surface and you can do all the beauty shots consistently.
Instead of a dreadnought with one singular nacelle, I like the USS Melbourne variant of the Nebula class where there's 2 smaller nacelles.
I prefer Proberts version better cause the secondary Hull leads into the next class Enterprise. I wish I could get a model of the Probert version.

I prefer the look of the Enterprise C over the concept art. It ties in very nicely with the shape of the A and B. I would not mind the concept of Enterprise C being the refit of the Enterprise C.
I love the Saucer and the Excelsior-ish neck. But, I am ho-hum about the Nacelles (mainly their shape) and the back of the Secondary Hull.
It just doesn't work for me as an overall design..

If is the same problem as with Anovos who put their uniforms on display in the advertisements or like with Mattel and their Jurassic World Dinosaurs Figures. In the end and in the purchased state, the result always looks cheaper than in the advertising.

No. What they need is some quality control. Stick lights in them and that's just one more thing for Eaglemoss to cock up.
Quite amazed that you didn’t comment on the nacelles being too thin. In cross-section, the nacelles should be much squarer - you can really see this in the bussard collectors that in this model resemble those of a Galaxy class more than rounded shape of TOS Enterprise. Built enough Ambassadors to see this is far from a great model!

Nice review, as always. I prefer the original design by Andrew Probert though. Happy to disagree with you there. Then again, Star Trek is all about infinite diversity in infinite combinations (also concerning taste), right? (Anyone who hates on others for having different tastes and preferences has no place in Star Trek, imho.) Even though you think it is worth it, I would never buy an XL version like this (essentially simple plastic models) - too many issues and too expensive for the quality on offer I think.
I am watching the video to determine if I want to purchase. This is a collectible. If you don't give eaglemoss mass any negative feedback why would they want to correct anything. It should be a deal breaker for the misaligned windows. And the deflector dish should also be you should be more aggressive I don't understand. When I purchased from these models from Amazon and I have many of these models I just keep returning to Amazon until it's perfect. I don't know if Amazon recoups the shipping from the sellers I don't pay shipping either way but shame I never see or hear you really getting on eaglemoss more and further more why not and you should contact them to find out what is going on.
i'd send it back, just the wobbly stand and the unglued part are bad enough. i'd be pissed
Almost every ship I get from Eaglemoss has some sort of issue like the problem you have with the nacelle. Nacelles being misaligned, serious issues with the paintwork, what looks to be fingerprints in glue all over the model, bits broken off etc, etc. Their customer service absolutely sucks too. You can wait for an hour before they answer the phone then you get some 18 year old that's only working for beer money who really couldn't care less about your issue. The magazine itself is always dog-eared, rolled or folded.
I'm getting really sick of them at this point and honestly wish they'd announce an end to the collection so I can just be done with it. I've spent a fortune with Eaglemoss too. I've been subscribed to the main collection since the first issue; including all special issues, plus I've bought at least half of those a second time for my son as well as most of the XL issues and several of the Discovery ships.
The colors are way off from the studio model, Looks like a lot of greens on the big version, should be done in blues.

Thanks for that resource. I had no idea the studio model was that heavily modified. I can't remember seeing a bottom shuttlebay on a ship, makes me wish I'd bought that Yamaguchi model when it came out years ago hehe. I might have to repaint my 2500 scale Enterprise C impulse engine now lol,

I just checked Ebay and all that is available is the 1/2500 version. AMT should reissue the 1/1400 kit eventually.

If I were you, I'd demand they exchange it. This was just sloppy workmanship.
It's because it derails the lineage of evolution from the B to the D that I just can't bring myself to like the Sternoprise.
Their QC is garbage. I wouldn't give Eaglemoss a penny of my money.

Almost every aspect of that model looks like garbage, especially since they're charging 10x what it would be worth even if it wasn't manufactured so poorly. That's a piece of junk and is absolutely not worthy of display. I sure hope they paid you a lot for that positive review.
