    If you put it side by side with the nx01 refit you can see the design lineage and that the redesign was heavily inspired by that ship

    I keep referring to Enterprise. They acknowledge that technology has progressed and the sets can't be as basic as the 60s show. But they built a ship that still fits the time line.

    The registry font is more movie Trek than TOS series font.

    This should've been the Kelvin universe design. You gotta love the way the Discovery people just change stuff for the hell of it. We had the straight nacelle struts but at the last minute they couldn't resist. And this came so late that you can see the original design on the viewscreens on Discovery in the first episode of season 2. That said, it is a great version of the Enterprise although for me nothing will beat the TMP look

    This is one of the Eaglemoss Discovery ships I was most excited to pick up, Stuart. Of the reimagined Enterprises post the TOS movie era? This is by far my favorite. And agree this would've made a great Kelvinprise. Now here's where this particular design would've been just fine with me. If Discovery was set in say....2269-70 rather than 2256? This design would've been fine for me. Most things in Discovery would've been: the ships aesthetics being so different, the Klingons having a mix of the ridged and TOS era vibe, and this Enterprise being something of a mid point between the TOS and TMP refit? That would've all worked out 100% fine to me.

    While I'm not a fan of all the unnecessary retcons either, I try to take a more relaxed approach to the question of "canon".
    As I see it, the things we see on screen will only ever be a "close enough" approximation of the "real" Star Trek universe, just by the nature of how fiction works. The "real" Enterprise isn't a model. It's interiors aren't made of plywood and colored lightbulbs. The crew do not look exactly like famous actors from our world.
    If captain Pike can be played by a different actor and still be the "same" person, why can't his ship be "played" by a slightly different model..?
    That being said, I also personally prefer the straight pylon version.

    I'd like to see this ship alongside the NX Refit.

    highly suggest you look at the 3d model that was making a WORKING tos enterprise. and found that the ship didnt work and had to be doubled in size. the tos enterprise is too small apparently

    Remember that the introduced u.s.s defiant first in first season of discovery. It may have been as display information when captain Lorca said they need defiant info to find a way home. Only mention it cause defiant didn’t look like enterprise while it was displayed.

    Yep, I'm in the same boat. I like the design of the Prime timeline Enterprise, I just don't buy what we're supposed to accept as its history being a refit/precursor to the Canon timeline Enterprise we see in TOS or the movies.

    Looking at both this model and the one for the XL they look very similar size but can't tell if thats just an illusion from the camera, tried to match it against how you were holding it to get a frame of reference

    🖖😎👍Very cool and very great looking ship indeed, And I myself own this one from Eaglemoss as well. Any ways a job well done as usual and very well informatively explained and executed in every way possible indeed👌.

    Pylons throw it off for me personally. I eagerly await a huge episode of strange new worlds to mostly destroy it for it to be refit with new tech making it smaller and more efficient while bringing it closer to tos design. Let's get a Cerritos eaglemoss.

      @whatinthe4500 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Looks better than the old tos design. Looks far more sturdy.

      @@whatinthe4500 agree but I kinda in the boat where is you mess with the constitution a lil bit it almost looks too different you know? It's a great design, like everything but pylons being swept back, prefer straight.

    While I wish they kept it the same more the sake of continuity I do like this designs more than the original and again for continuity I wish she had the straight pilons but I think the angled ones look better on this.

    Kurtzman: Discoverse is cannon.
    Trekkies: There... are... four... light!
    When all the evidence contradicts what we're being told what are we supposed to believe? Not only is the scale wrong but they have technologies that TOS, TNG, and DS9 tell us they shouldn't have yet. Kind of like how ENT has tech they shouldn't have yet due to the temporal cold war. I like to think that's the source of divergence and why Disco is more advanced then they should be.

    I always feel Eaglemoss sends me the wrong version whenever I order a ship.
    Also how can two ships (which are the same length model) have two different prices?
    Regardless, thanks for the vid Captain!

  • @DocD173
    @DocD173 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can somebody give me an estimate length? I know this “standard” edition is still a bit larger than their other standard releases, but I’d love to know how much larger.

    I agree its a great design and would have made an excellent JJ-prise. But I still don't get how they can try and pass this off as a "Prime Universe" ship. What a shame.

    • @dgrblue4162
      @dgrblue4162 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      CBS passes it off as "Prime" because they own it, and they can. Continuity, and facts, be damned.

    • @homelessend8557
      @homelessend8557 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. This is a really nice ship but certain things honestly kind of bug me out, such as the extended hanger bay, potato peeler struts, and impulse engines. If they made the struts on straight as in TOS, it would've both been perfect and been a part of visual continuity that makes sense, while not losing all the detail it had

  • @averyramstorf2483
    @averyramstorf2483 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Where is the impulse drive on the secondary hull. If the ship were to do emergency sauser separation and secondary hull was repaired, it would need to do impulse for both parts to do impulse.

    Can I ask, what is Aztecing supposed to be? Is it a specific paint pattern that Starfleet uses or is it supposed to represent light reflecting off of different panels of the ship? Otherwise I really enjoyed the review, she looks great. The fine granularity of the details is what I come here for.

    • @RichieAppel
      @RichieAppel 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aztecing is the coloring on the hull. It’s the darker grey “camo” looking colors.

    I'd be willing to bet real money that had ENT continued, this design would've eventually been the final, onscreen version of the Daedalus class, albeit in a more reasonable size. No way would Berman have gone for the tennis-ball-&-beer-can design, but this, he would've bought, since it does fill the niche as a transitional design between the NX class and the AMT 18" model (which I contend is a slightly older class than the Constitution, hence the lower registry number on the Constellation, for example).

    A gorgeous reimagining of the TOS enterprise, pity they couldn't do this with the Klingon "escapes from a junkyard" fleet, let alone with the "turd" like Klingon prosthetics.

    • @Starch-Wreck
      @Starch-Wreck 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Nope. pretending over 55 years of history didnt happen or look or appear a certain way ruins an established universe. Especially when its been cemented in multiple series after TOS. If Discovery wanted to do its own thing, they should have. They didnt and constantly rely on previously established characters and ships as a crutch instead of creating their own iconic roles. There was 0 need to make Discovery during this time. This is what happens when you claim prime and dont make a prime series. They could have gone to any other timeline. Star trek isnt James Bond or Batman. Its an established linear universe with connecting stories and a progression of a future within an established universe.

    • @seanoneill9606
      @seanoneill9606 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But the show's producers claim to be prime. It's only taking the creators at their word.
      Like Trekyards have said many times, as a visual reboot Discovery looks great. One problem, Kurtzman et al are adamant it is not.

      @@seanoneill9606 my point is more than this video is supposed to be a product review m but really every half minute there is the pointer about the prime and not prime which in my view is not the supposed purpose. Because if it is, name it differently. The discussion about prime and not prime has their place but has it to be a eaglemoss product review ?
