    If you actually want to install a Linux distro on a T2 Mac, you can do it way easier by downloading one of the patched ISOs from t2linux.org/

    I love this type of content. Also the Kirby in the background is cute.

    I had a similar problem - two possible fixes
    1) Connect an android phone via usb and use tethering to get a network connection
    2) Use the driver manager to install proprietary drivers after you have the tethered connection

      Check the sleep settings, I had similar problems with Mint on i5 4th Gen. Went away when I switched to Pop! OS and downloaded some system monitor packages, tinkered around and problem gone.

      You can download Ubuntu and other distros that are pre-configured, but outside of those (like Linux Mint) still require additional setup.

      I just installed Ubuntu in my 2020 MacBook Pro. Touch Bar is a pain and Touch ID don’t even mention. After tweaking it , changing the Kernel for the 6.6.67-1-t2-noble version and couple extras I managed to run Ubuntu on it with trackpad and keyboard working fine. Touch Bar also works with some extra packages but simple stuff unless customized. I’m running Hyprland on it with a pretty nice rice , even tho TouchID don’t work, hardware and software 💯 is all I’ve always wanted 😍

      How about the battery? have you noticed that it lasts longer than before? the processor is faster than before? how about the tasks, do you notice that the macbookpro in general is faster? Thank you very much for the video

      It's hard to say for sure (I didn't do any serious testing and I have since sold the MacBook) but Mint is a lighter system overall, so I would expect it would have better battery life and perhaps marginally better performance.

    Ok, I installed Linux Mint on my iMac, and what about the cooling fans, how to make them work properly? Because my iMac is very hot and the fans are working, but they are spinning at the lowest speed. Maybe you know how to solve this problem?

    Linux is better on intel based Mac’s. Linux has to create from scratch or reverse engineer drivers for new hardware. Linux mint xfce is on my 2012 Mac mini. I play some steam games and ps2 games it runs great!!

    How is trackpad scrolling? I found it very odd when running Ubuntu via UTM on an M1 Pro. Tempted to get a 2019 MacBook Pro to mess around with Linux but don’t want to do it if the track pad experience is going to be poor (I don’t want a separate keyboard or mouse)

    • @Stonley890

      I would describe it as alright. It's quite precise and smooth, but there's no velocity scrolling like on a smartphone. UTM seems to treat it like a mouse wheel, but it's not like that on real hardware.

    Recommend keeping a cheap dumb USB hub handy, less than $10, also, disable any LAN drivers, as they commonly take prescedence over wifi cards, unless you are wired, of course.

    I followed the same steps and finally got my MBP to run Linux Mint. The Touchbar worked upon installation, but after another reboot it was reset to not working. Same thing for the wireless. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

    You coildnt go with a better looking distro to compliment the hardware?

    • @Stonley890

      I could, but I thought it would be fun to do something challenging! I can always install something like GNOME or Plasma on Linux Mint.

    macos is such an superior dekstop OS than Linux. there is no reason to install linux. learn docker instead.

    • @therealgamingfire

      I disagree. With Linux I am able to customize to my liking, I can chose ANY desktop environment I want. Do I want to tile my windows or use a desktop? Many programs and features are just better than Linux. While Windows apps and MacOS apps don't work I have found even greater alternatives That's why I believe Linux is better than MacOS or Windows.

    • @Rglezy

      I very much disagree. I went from mac to linux and I never wanna go back. Also I'm a graphics programmer and the fact that I'm pretty much forced to use metal is a huge turn off. I unfortunately am stuck with my macbook so I'm glad I found this video so I can just wipe that apple off my screen.

    • @cainnzm

      that is you own opinion about it, which many would disagree. If you are happy with MacOS then stay in MacOS. I personally use both. And both of them have its down and ups.

    • @Rglezy

      @@cainnzm I think this is the best possible answer. I me disliking macOS doesn't mean others can't enjoy it but for some reason mac enjoyers seem to think they're the messengers of god or something.

      @@Rglezy Apple fan boys, that is what they are. I bet he also believes IOS is superior than Android. Typical closed minded human being. Just ignore them. They are a lost cause.
