Distrochooser chooser is an horrendous picker. It gives outdated/unstable distros in the list of recommandation if you take paths that lead to anything else than linux mint.

a container isn't so much a virtual machine as it is a way of keeping some programs away from the rest of your computer, hence the name (you "contain" them). all flatpak apps (like from flathub) are actually containers, so to call it a "virtual machine" is really kind of a misnomer. the main benefit is you can do stuff like install libraries without having them mess with the ones mint uses (since they're "in a container" and can't escape to mess with your other stuff), so it's actually a really great solution for exactly the kind of problem you encountered here with davinci resolve! granted, i can see how that's not obvious!

How do I stop the compass from Auto refreshing. Whenever they move it refreshes automatically and it can be a little difficult. I see its configurable but its not in the /trigger manhunt-options

Holy hell! This is a MASSIVE LIFE SAVER! So glad I came across this video. The one thing I couldn't for the life of me figure out.

The Application Audio Capture source didn't show up, but the other two did. I'm on Fedora KDE, using wayland.

Is there a way to do the same but using PulseAudio?

I use Debian with the cinnamon desktop, I had to install yaru icons to change my cursor away from the breeze default that came with breeze-gtk

If you actually want to install a Linux distro on a T2 Mac, you can do it way easier by downloading one of the patched ISOs from t2linux.org/

Recommend keeping a cheap dumb USB hub handy, less than $10, also, disable any LAN drivers, as they commonly take prescedence over wifi cards, unless you are wired, of course.

What method did you use to install OBS? Reason I ask is because there's no "plugins" folder for me to paste the pipewire-audio-capture folder to. I don't know if that matters or not. I went ahead and made a folder called "plugins" anyways. I followed the video to the tee, and yet I do not see the plugins in the OBS sources. Any help would be appreciated.

Linux is better on intel based Mac’s. Linux has to create from scratch or reverse engineer drivers for new hardware. Linux mint xfce is on my 2012 Mac mini. I play some steam games and ps2 games it runs great!!

How is trackpad scrolling? I found it very odd when running Ubuntu via UTM on an M1 Pro. Tempted to get a 2019 MacBook Pro to mess around with Linux but don’t want to do it if the track pad experience is going to be poor (I don’t want a separate keyboard or mouse)

Installed (21.3 Mint) and something has changed ... cannot now access Steam. I get:- - "updating Steam Runtime Environment" - then updates about 500kb of Steam data, then - "Unpacking Steam Runtime" - "Reconfiguring Steam Environment" - "Unpacking Steam Linux Runtime Container" Then goes to "Steamwebhelper is not responding" with none of offered options responsive, including cancel. Then "Error Reference Shared SteamUI_9338358_c6c82b63529e50ab" is displayed. Only 'way out' is to restart Linux.
