8 years later and I still think the standard TT front-lower bumper design is so attractive compare to the rest, I couldn't wrap my head around it! Something about the linearity i think, the way it connect from left to right..
Really love that you included the base model. Tired of only seeing reviews of the top models and with extra features. Nice to actually see what you get if you actually pay the extra money for the exterior. If you don't have a base model to compare to you dont know the difference to begin with.
I just wanted to say the exact same thing Thomas says above. Just got a second hand S-line TT 2015 model, and this video helps pointing out the differences between the models, as well as having useful opinions by the reviewer. Cheers for that.
My new favorite car review channel. It is too bad Audi made you wear that head sock under the helmet. You look like you were ready to rob a bank. Usually you look so stylish, keep up the great work.
picked up my tt 2.0 230hp yesterday, excellent car! putting the ABT exhaust system on it in a couple of days. Shifting gears is probably the most fun thing about this car
i forgot to mention however, what an amazing review!! sorry i was about to look past the review, that would have been extremely rude of me lol. Keep up the good work!!
You are brilliant they way you review cars. You make me really appreciate every aspect of the vehicle. I really enjoy when you talk about the lines, and styling. Before watching your videos I never thought about design the way you do. Most automotive reviews will say something basic like "Aggressive design" and then do a 0-60 run(pretty lame). Anyway, keep up the great work!
Excellent video and all round fantastic reviews. I think your focus on some of the smaller details is really useful! My 2.0 TFSI Coupe is arriving in March and can't wait, although now not sure if I should have gone for the Quattro!
Again another great review with new audi TT, espeically the TTs rocks. I must say the screen behind the wheel is very impressive, nice work with Google Earth. thanks Thomas.
Great content, thanks for posting it. Production/editing suggestion: consider intercutting more regularly between wide shots and close-up or medium shots of the on-camera spokesperson. Extended wide-shots are visually tedious, and allow the audience's mind to wander. Intercutting with other angles and different framings / focal-lengths allows you to better control pacing of the monologue, and also allow natural intersections where you can delete awkward pauses where the host is attempting to recall his next line. Takes shot in a static wide-shot rarely should last more two to three sentences before cutting to a different angle, a close-up of the spokesperson, or B-roll of whatever item is being discussed. Watching an on-camera spokesperson speak at length on any topic, no matter how educated he may be, is tedious to watch for an audience, and comes across like a lecture. Compare the intercutting of angles during the test-drive section, which is paced very well, versus the initial introduction monologues. Otherwise, very nice work, excellent content and a great review!
I have the Audi TT S-line 2016 and was told that you cannot install google Earth view on the 2016 models but after viewing multiple youtube videos I frequently see that the 2016 models like in this video have the google earth view??? I would like to have it, can somebody tell me if it's possible to get it? and where? thank you
Loved the in depth review! I have my mind set on this car, saving up right now so as to get it sometime in 2016 or so haha. It would be my very first car, well first self bought car. Could anyone suggest a color for it? I obviously wanted the Mythos Black, but heard that it'll need a lot of cleaning. So besides White and Silver, how are the other colors in terms of longitivtiy and the amount of cleaning required? I'd really appreciate some suggestions. :)
I really like your videos. They are very detailed and really inform you about the car if you don't just want to gaze at it, but make a purchase decision. After watching many of your videos, I really value your opinion. I'm thinking about buying a TT with the double clutch gearbox, but I really can't decide about getting Quattro or FWD. I would very much like to know your thoughts on the matter. The car will be driven mostly in central Bavaria.
P8qzxnxfP85xZ2H3wDRV Hey, I love to hear that. Later this year, I will get another TT Convertible, but not a S, the normal one. That might also help. About quattro, well yes its nice if the car is not only front wheel driven. But is it worth the money? Depends on: Do you drive the car in snow? And: Are you always hammering the throttle that hard that the front wheels would slip? If you can answer both questions with no, then you ll be fine with the FWD :)
Very Good review ! Interesting vehicle, would love to see the Diesel ver.here in the US. MPG is very important now a days, new emission standards in US ,if urea would be needed? Probably. How would that figure into the cost to own equation ? Thanks Joe
TechExplorer Thanks Joe! I can give you a calculation example for Germany. Here, we pay more insurance and more taxes for a Diesel, maybe 500 Euros more per year for that car. The Diesel consumes about 5 l on 100 km, and Diesel is about 1.25 Euro at the fuel station. Petrol fuel is about 8 l / 100 km and costs about 1.40 Euro. With 20.000 km a year, you would pay 2240 for the petrol fuel and 1250 for the Diesel. Makes 990 Euro difference minus 500 Euro more you pay on insurance and tax -> 440 Euro saving. Means: It doesnt make SUCH a difference, but as soon as you run about 20.000 km a year, it pays off, if you only have it as a 2nd car and go like 8.000 km a year, you can pick the petrol one.
Helo I need your kind help in Drive comfort between the TT & TTS because there much difference in the price where I want the better power in the TTS so I wanted to know if the TTS is a lot firmer compared to the TT I drive a lot in cities and highways so if you can just specify if there its not that much a difference in comfort between them because if it is not I will go for the TTS thanks in advance
+MA10Station Hi! Have you checked out our recent review of the TT roadster 230 hp ? I found the 2.0 TSI in that version quite cool and also talk about the comparison TTS in there
Great video, you really go in to a lot of detail which I like. The TTS looks amazing inside and out.I bought the the MK2 TTS with the Meistershaft sports exhaust six weeks ago.It has DSG S Tronic. Love it :)
Shashank Kumar Thank you very much and greetings to Sri Lanka (?) We could "only" test the TTS on the race track so far. The official consumption figure is 7,3 l / 100 km, so in reality, depending on your driving style, you will surely end up above 9 liters.
***** That is a little high. But you get an Audi S badge at such an affordable price, it is very tempting! 310bhp for a 1500kg car, the engine sound, the beautiful wheel design, quad-exhausts and less-than 5 second 0-100kmph maybe enough to compensate for 9.0 l / 100km. Thank you very much! Greetings from India :) {The ocean in the photo is from Costa Rica}
+Autogefühl thanks for reply :) , I've watched them all and so your other vids . You are the best car reviewer tbh. Would love a in depth review of the TTS coupe (preferably in black) or the TT RS that coming out soon . Cheers
I think this model is the 2016 right? Or am I wrong? Well if it is the 2016 when is it coming to the market? Specially in the US. I just liked that screen on the speedometer.
***** thanks for the response. How would you classify the TTrs as a daily basis drive car? Is there other cars compare to the TTsr for the same price that are worth checking?
I love your channel, I always watch your videos about the autos. unfortunately, many models are not available in the US. Thomas, you have a very funny German-English accent. which could be one of your traits. And you looked so weird in helmet....
***** hehe... are you Thomas? I don't understand why the European automobile companies wouldn't focus on US auto market as much as some other country does? You know there's small Eastern country produce many auto models and offer them to the US, they care US market more than any other markets, so, the US auto culture has been ruined by that country. I don't see the reason. Are Europeans not care about the US auto market or they are not as good/competitive as that small Eastern country? or some other reasons? IF European give up US market, then European auto culture will be the history forever.... I have been considering this issue for a long time, I can't find an answer.why, what is the reason?! I only love European cars (most of European brands), But I DO hope they can be very very competitive in US auto market to against others... to remain your auto glory you guys once had before.......
Joyface D Hey, yeah this is Thomas from the TT video, although you might know we got another Thomas you have already seen maybe. Actually some European manufacturers missed chances on the American market, that's why Volkswagen CEO Winterkorn now says he will personally address the American market. Come on, it's still the 2nd biggest auto market in the world... some manufacturers didnt really fulfill the needs of the American car customers. And I think, the market is pretty hard as for discounts etc. In comparison to Europe, cars are extremely cheap in America. And the Asian companies do better in producing cheaper cars, that might be one explanation. You are absolutetely right, this is a very important and interesting issue.
***** thanks for your email, Thomas. I am so glad to receive your people's reviews. I love what you think about American auto market. You see, some Eastern automobiles have realized the gravity of the competition to against European manufacturers. They have paid so much attention on American market, to produce what EXATLY Americans like. Step by step, after all these years, they have grab so much market from European and American market sharing. I don't know what have you European companies waiting for? Some European companies have withdrawed their market in the US, and American automobile industry have been struggling to maintain its glory of cars. Take a look now, even another small Eastern car manufacturer have started to grab American market. Precisely, not just Northern market they want to conquer, they have aimed the whole world with ambition. For those auto manufacturers in Europe, I don't know what have they been waiting for. What I know is if they keep such blur competitive concept to run, the glory will be gone with the wind forever. It's time to stand up and make a plan for the future now, like EU, working together! Certainly, it just my personal thought, since usually I can't demonstrate my idea to someone, hope you don't mind if I said too much. Thanks for reading. You guys have twitter or something where followers can communicate with you guys?!
Joyface D Great to have your feedback, very interesting. What would you think what exactly the Japanese manufacturers offer that Americans want so much? We can talk here so other TH-cam viewers can take part. We also have our website, facebook and twitter.
I don't like the idea of putting the navigation system into the speedometer... me as a passenger like to see where we are going and how long we need to get there and having the navigation system in the center console is cainda like feature what makes the interior look better a Head up Display would be way cooler and interactive
Cjkologe Indeed this is one of the flaws. The new Passat offers both central display and driver's display. Indeed also my co-drivers take the GPS part when driving together.
***** Thanks! Sorry we dont have insight in _every_ market, best would be if you ask on Audi South Korea website or your next Audi dealer! If you got to know it, please post it here so other friends from South Korea know it:)
I discovered there are two LED headlight options; Matrix LED and normal LED.... I love the feel of the steering and the wheel... Drives like a suction cup on the road even at speed.. 18 inch tires help soften the ride but.... 20 inch is for me 👍
Yes! and it has 10 gigs of storage for music and music album artwork.. I am curious as to the level of detail for the street maps. One reviewer was told that zooming all the way in to a location displayed Google Street View... so it has to be a huge database in the car. Probably solid state drive at least 1 terabyte.
+Autogefühl Wow! OK. The dealer also told me that to upgrade the maps, in Australia is $500... varies country to country I imagine. Every 3-4 years should be OK. But I am curious as to the level of searchable detail in the database.
To be very exact: There are 3 options, Xenon (serial), LED and Matrix-LED. Only Matrix LED delivers sweeping indicators back AND front, "just" LED only back sweeping.
Can you please review a little bit about the paddle shifters and stick shift? My understanding is that Audi does not want to make Audi Tt with just standard stick shift any more, so the whole transmission thing is very confusing. Maybe it's automatic only but override with paddle? Stick shift and paddle? Just stick shift? I live in Canada, so I am not even sure what we will get..
Mustafa Ali Şafak Basically, yes. And it will stay that way for sure, there is no Audi with rear-wheel drive. All powerful models that cannot get the torque on the ground via the front wheels have the quattro then. Most TTs that will be bought thus will have all-wheel-drive.
Thomas, you can "demand" Audi some fee for this video clip because I have ordered today one, the basic TT 1.8 TFSI 7DSG S-tronic, after enjoying your narration.
I have a Lexus IS with a 2 L. I4 turbo. It has Direct/Port injection which means I don’t have to be concerned with carbon buildup. It’s ludicrous that VW hasn’t applied the same principle to their engines!
+Peacehorn i'm guessing the TTRS will be more expensive than the M2 tho. I think M2 will be in the middle of the S and the RS price wise. what do u think? I'm guessing approx $65,000-$70,000?
non. but most stressful is you have to pay the tax after you have reached 9 years of using the car. ridiculous but thats that. singapore does not want people to have a car. if you have a car in singapore then you must be really rich
"hunter of curves"? i like that. does that word normally refer to driving, or someone seeking female companionship? maybe you buy a car like this, you can get both.
I test drove the TT 2.0 petrol, its NOT fun to drive at all. This video is more of an AD not a real review. Just a fancy video without real critical points being made.
8 years later and I still think the standard TT front-lower bumper design is so attractive compare to the rest, I couldn't wrap my head around it! Something about the linearity i think, the way it connect from left to right..

Otherwise, very nice work, excellent content and a great review!
great work!!! nice review.

Dislike the "claw" led lights. Other than that, one word for this car, gorgeous.

Do you have a opinion on ABT aftermarket parts for the TTS ?
Thanks
My TTS is now built and making its way to port for shipping the the US.
Does the base model and the S line have the same engine? Same hp?
Traded my 2014 TT in late 2019 for 30% purchase value and it resold by dealer for 50+% of purchase value.

why audi has stick shifter gears forward up and rear down, while other brands have it like sports cars, up is back and down is forward?

Hallo, ein sehr gutes Video. Ich habe vor 3 Woche ein AUDI TTS ( farbe : schwarz ) gekauft. Lieverung mitte April. Grüsse aus Belgien, Frans
+Frans Peeters Vielen Dank und viel Spaß damit !
You should do a review comparing the 1.8L and 2.0L versions
Very Good review ! Interesting vehicle, would love to see the Diesel ver.here in the US. MPG is very important now a days, new emission standards in US ,if urea would be needed? Probably. How would that figure into the cost to own equation ?

+ThexBorg yeah its google street view. Afaik it has also smth to do with the live internet connection
+Autogefühl Wow! OK. The dealer also told me that to upgrade the maps, in Australia is $500... varies country to country I imagine. Every 3-4 years should be OK. But I am curious as to the level of searchable detail in the database.
+Autogefühl It's great to talk with you Thomas :-)
The seats are space ship like. Also, I like the racing blue color. Normaly I wouldn choose a blue car.
I love it!!!!!!
Pon Perter ! :)
What is the color of the S-line? Scuba blue or Speng blue?
+YouXian Liu Scuba. Sepang not available for the TT!
Thanks a lot!! ^^
Does sport line(non-s-line) have the sweeping(dynamic?) indicator light, too?
Hi, it is only available if you pick the optional Full-LED-lights
To be very exact: There are 3 options, Xenon (serial), LED and Matrix-LED. Only Matrix LED delivers sweeping indicators back AND front, "just" LED only back sweeping.
hi. what color reference is the blue one?
Think it is Ara Blue?
I really want a TTS this spring. My 2001 SAAB 93 is showing it's age...
Aleksandar Matijaca Next month we will present you the roadster in a full review of the all-new version as well!
Aleksandar Matijaca ok i ll take a look!
Audi sind die besten Autos. Dort gut auf Gas Im den USA Derzeit habe ich meine ' 07-a4
Great car love it I have a tt ❤ ♥ 😍 💕
was all that head gear necessary lol good vid tho
Awesome...thanx! =)
JeremieFromScience thx 4 watching!
What is the name of the yellow one?
HamidoooGames Hey, the yellow one is the TTS as I explained - or what u mean?
no that was what i meant thnx
Still fron wheel drive ?
Mustafa Ali Şafak Basically, yes. And it will stay that way for sure, there is no Audi with rear-wheel drive. All powerful models that cannot get the torque on the ground via the front wheels have the quattro then. Most TTs that will be bought thus will have all-wheel-drive.
thank u for the informarmation
Thomas, you can "demand" Audi some fee for this video clip because I have ordered today one, the basic TT 1.8 TFSI 7DSG S-tronic, after enjoying your narration.
+Joe Nartca 🤘enjoy
Audi TTS Official TV Commercial - Science Not fiction
Now 20k i think i buy one soon 😂❤
I just bought TT S-Line in silver :-)
+ThexBorg nice :)
I have a Lexus IS with a 2 L. I4 turbo. It has Direct/Port injection which means I don’t have to be concerned with carbon buildup. It’s ludicrous that VW hasn’t applied the same principle to their engines!
This guy is text book German
perfect English. Thank you
BMW M2 or the Audi TTS?
definitley the M2! But the M2 is 10.000€ more expensive. I would compare the M2 more to thr RS3.
+Peacehorn *the
+Peacehorn i'm guessing the TTRS will be more expensive than the M2 tho. I think M2 will be in the middle of the S and the RS price wise. what do u think? I'm guessing approx $65,000-$70,000?
minibus1351 In Germany the RS3 starts around 60.000€ and the BMW M2 also. So the price difference is very small.
minibus1351 I think you meaned the TTRS.. And yeah the TTRS will be a bit more expensive then the M2.
Pretty sure when you hard shift on a track, i distinctly heard car farts
The fake air-intakes on the TT Prestige here doesn't look as bad as the fake air-intakes on the A3 Prestige.
awesome car. but in singapore it cost 5 times more than any other country. only the richest can afford one of these
Fazli Halim awww :/ Any cars you can buy there at normal prices?
non. but most stressful is you have to pay the tax after you have reached 9 years of using the car. ridiculous but thats that. singapore does not want people to have a car. if you have a car in singapore then you must be really rich
Ma future...
i think the previous model looks better

goldee240 concentration :D
boi✋
Why does it fart
Bestes Englisch :D
SupriixVFX Thank you very much!
the new farting tt s..very nice car ..but it sounds like a fart when changing gears..shame..
"hunter of curves"? i like that. does that word normally refer to driving, or someone seeking female companionship? maybe you buy a car like this, you can get both.
Dan Cornelius haha ;)
it actually sounds like a fart..
WHATS WITH THE KKK FACE MASK ?
eyestungdustnblind You wear that beneath a helmet to suck up sweat
I test drove the TT 2.0 petrol, its NOT fun to drive at all. This video is more of an AD not a real review. Just a fancy video without real critical points being made.
Benjamin Yong Well, the TT is really a great small sports car. And I think it is even a lot of fun with the small engines.
Boring boring Audi. Exterior is just naff in any colour!
