This is the Full Tabla Solo Live Performance of Ustad Zakir Hussain ji of the 10th Year Celebration of Shrutinandan at Netaji Indoor Stadium, organized by Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty on behalf of Shrutinandan.

Never ever seen such a humble and great being like Sri Zakir Hussain Saab. Some years ago, I met him at Delhi airport. He was sitting on a chair and I recognized him. Went upto him, asked " Sir, you are Zakir Hussain saab?" He got up from the chair and smilingly said yes. He also said , he was going to US. I told him sir, I am also going that way. What touched me was his humility and greatness. I am nothing in front of him but he got up and respectfully spoke to me for 5 minutes or so.
May the divine grace be with you Sir. Not only , you are a legend but a fantastic human being.Pranams

Iam a Mridangam artist from Chennai..i grew up watching zakhirji in 90s ..i don't know how many times I heard his magic album ...those are cassette days...i didn't even buy that cassette rather borrowed from my neighbour friend and didn't return it,... Zakhirji is my hero...

Through his enchanting rendition Ustad Jakir Hossain Saab always created and still doing an ecstasy in my heart and soul. Such personalities are rarely born but shall remain alive for good.
A Big thank you to Mr.Chakraborty for putting this here. This form of concert is unique. Where else can a percussionist hold an entire concert just by himself. Dont think this is done anywhere in the world. No words can capture the sheer brilliance of Mr.Hussain's playing. How he so effortlessly explores spaces within spaces in an overall rhythm is pure magic. And then he has so much fun when he plays - invaluable lesson for any musician anywhere.

I am only at 12:21 and couldn't wait to compliment. Such a great sound quality (bravo to Viswajeet) and also to the camera man, such fabulous picturisation. And what to say about the performance, overwhelming. He is plaing counter beats, off beats and then finishing it on some, so hard but ustaad jee is ustad jee. We are blessed to have artists like him.
Ustad Zakir Hossain is a unique at the same time refined production in the field . of Tabla Sangeet.

U r correct but I think u don't know much about Indian classical music coz the firts 10 to 20 min were the skills come in play...pashkar and lay kari(means playing with the lays)are much difficult..

SUPERB. Ustad Zakir Hussain not only seems to master the mathematical abstract craft of tabla playing; he can also relate it to the corporeal real-world day to day life experiences. I don't understand the language, but I feel like I GET what he's communicating as he demonstrates, i.e. - the angst of a traffic jam.
India is always proud of these exponents in this universe. They born in this country to prove the greatness of Bharath in the world.
