Amjad Ali Khan is one of my favourite artists.
A doyen of classical music is he.
Ever since my college days I have been listening to him.
Sarad has always been my favourite instrument.
Playing on it is no easy a job Besides , playing on it much to the satisfaction of those who love it is all the more challenging.
And he does it with all the command.
And that's what has made him an idol to a great many lovers of classical instrumental music.
This recital is something special.
One can also hear him singing the tunes and boles.
And what a tuneful voice he owns!
An extra gain it is to me.
I adore and admire him from the core of my heart.
May God grant him a long life.
I cannot put in words what I feel for this exquisite piece of enchantment... All I need to do is close my eyes and a sepia coloured movie runs through my mind as it were...of Radha and Krishna playing hide and seek on the banks of Yamuna amidst the trees...sometimes they sit quietly on the bank of the river to watch the swans at play and then they look at each other and get lost in each other's eyes! Pure Bliss!

This was my first classical album which I have listened in banglore during 1996 i got this cassette by music today and eventually I became fan of classical music and I am blessed that I got it back after 23 years on TH-cam after I lost that cassette a tons of thanks to the uploader

I am 87.... and I am so fortunate to have in person listened to most of these masters. What a thrill! To top it all got to know them personally and enjoyed their company. The tough part is that some of them have proceeded to their heavenly abodes...

Yes sir Pandit Nikhil Bandhopadhy , Indranil Bhattacharya both died in an untimely age even last year we lost tabla mastreo Pandit Shuvankar Banerjee he was just 50.

The Sarod is capable of sharply defined pizzacato and smooth glottal slides like no other instrument. It has clearer timber and longer sustain than the sitar because the main bridge lacks a sloping jawari.
It surprises me that a master can perform such quick explosive melodic runs on a fretless instrument having such a long scale length. The precision and dexterity needed to hit the intonation perfectly, and the strength needed in the hands to handle the tension and high action are amazing to me.
When you attempt to play a similar instrument yourself, skill like that on display here is literally jaw-dropping!

I have to learn from someone the difference between Hindustani Bhairavi and the popular Carnatic Bhairavi. Now when I listen to Amjad's Bhairavi that is Hindustani Bhairavi that is quite different from my Carnatic Bhairavi with which I am quite familiar; I know many songs in it from years of listening to such stalwarts like MD Ramanathan, KV Narayanaswami, Pudukkode Krishnamurthy, GNB, Tanjavur Kalyanaraman, Kalyanakrishna Bhagavatar, Chembai Bhagavatar, Jon Higgins Bhavgavatar, MS Subbulakshmi, MLV, T K Rangachari, Vairamangalam Lakshminarayanan vidwan, Nedunuri Krishnamurthy, Neyyattinkara Vasudevan etc
If you really want know yourself and want to separate from fast ticking time then Classical music is the answer ❤️

There was a renowned Carnatic musician named G N Balasubramaniam. He was a composer too without ever singing any of his compositions in his any of the numerous 'live' concerts all across S India leaving that task to any one of his fantastic pupils including Tanjavoor S Kalyanaraman, M L Vasanthakumari etc. GNB, he was endearingly called by those initials, used to sing Durga ["Dharmashravana"] in his kutcheris[the apt name for 'concert' in all of South India]. That's how a S Indian native like me got the taste of the Hindustani raga Durga! Puliancode Kattiyattu Narayanakurup Kanthikumar from his resident Central Valley California town of River Islands

I have been listening to this dhun since 1990. I vividly remember the football world cup was around. I had posters of Lothar Mathais and Maradona on my wall. Little did I know they will clash in the final . I haven't got enough of this tilak kamod dhun yet 🙂. Maybe in in next 40 years

A sarod concert was the last indian classical concert i went to with my parents before leaving home. Its been so long. This feels so good.
I am surprised by how soon the alap ends and the tabla comes in while the melodic phrases drop into coherence with the rythmic cycle.
There's a lot of sustenance here for people who like to hear a melodic story unfold at length.
I was one blessed to see Amajad live in concert. It was, to my ears, a flawless recital.
And Zakir is unsurpassed as well. Bravo!

But what i saw them in mid 70s there is much difference Amzad g has lost his glory as of now he plays very casually where as Zakir bhai glowing each day even now. i have been watching their life performance since 1973.
