I have an m50 and I just bought another e30 it’s a 87’ 325i cabrio I plan on completely stripping this car and doing the swap and eventually making the engine an s50
I have them on my s14 with 30 way adjustable damping and they work well. Not too bumpy at all. On rough roads they do feel harsh tho. My friend had them on a super budget drift missle s14 and they performed flawlessly. They are actually a good bang for your buck.
Havent finished watching the video yet but while you're in there you might wanna do the subframe reinforcement plates. I've owned 2 e36 m3 and it's a an easy add while doing the rear coils. I had one set of ebay coils for my sedan and although they were stiff it was worth the affordable price for a daily.
Are you talking about the weld in reinforcement plates that you need to remove the whole subframe for? Thats definitely not a "while you're in there" thing. Also e36 m3s should have factory reinforced subframe mounts. Mine does at least.
@@GRENAgaDE no theres a bracket that mounts over the top of the coilover when it is mounted in the car on top of the tower if that makes sense. It's hard to type what I'm trying to say.
They both sound pretty bad. My e36 was straight piped for a bit but it's a 328i so it has bigger cats and resonators to make it a bit more bearable. I built a custom header back exhaust and it sounds ok now, still not great. I also have a E34 540i and wish I could transplant just the sound into the e36. Those sound mean af.
And there needs to be definition what are "ebay coils" since you can buy Jom to bc racing to KW on ebay. And ebay is not making the coils so.. what are ebay coils?

Subframe reinforcements!!!!!! Trust me I owned a ‘93 325is and didn’t do the research and I did my own e36 drift build. I had to re-weld the threaded hole for the bolt of the rear trailing arm. The subframe mounts in this car are really weak, Bmw didn’t fix this problem till their refresh of the e36. Oh and the plastic clutch fan...... it’s a suicide fan, it’s broken and punctured holes in my radiator, my belt. I switched over to an electric fan with a switch in the dash to get rid of the risk
@@Noah-xc6el I got an incredible deal on these. Paid less for 2 sets than one set of the cheapest Racelands. XD One is for my daily Impreza with blown suspension and one is for my V10 swap Impreza to see how fast they blow up.
@@v8_sami Yeah I'm hoping they don't die too fast. Biggest thing for me is I may cover the pillow ball joints with something to protect them since on dirt roads they would get ground up quick. Interested to see how the hold up drifting for TDIB too.

I looked at my local craigslist and unless you have a few grand you can't get in one. But damn... I ended up checking body kits for them and the Pandem kit is glorious. Slippery slope those 3 series if you have a semi proper build budget...
I bought a brand new Chevy Mark III conversion pick up truck in 1993 with an optioned 10 disc Blaupunkt CD changer. They were fairly common and accessible back then.
the maxspeedingrods coilovers are actually good, I have a set on my MX5 and there aren't any issues to report. I bought the ones that don't come with mounts and used genuine KYB top mounts instead
the correct way to do the lower damper bolt is to mount wheel ...lower car on own weight and carefully line it up.... easier said than done, Obviously but that trick will only work if you are using floor jacks not hoists. so just thought id share for the budget builders
I have the same brand on my civic. You feel every bump but it rides way better than cut springs so that's... Something. They have very little downward travel and a lot of upward travel even when lowered. Maybe I need to adjust preload.

The best shocks that are coilovers are Bilstein PSS9s. Honestly, no matter what else you use, once you drive a e36 with PSS9s, you will NEVER want anything else.

The only things I hate about my eBay coils on my E36 is the spring noise but other than that it doesn't feel that bouncy for me at all and I take the Cannons all time and it feels pretty good and sharp
you just showed me why my suspension in my Z was "clapping" I had known it had to do with shocks and what not so I replaced the shocks and struts, but the metal to metal contact! that was it I think!
When I was young and dumb, I ordered coilovers from eBay but they were such low quality I didn't even try to use them. They felt like a cheap toy and there was no way they were going to be durable enough to function. The coilovers you guys have look high end quality compared to mine.
I have a set of maxpeeding rods in my drift missle 240sx, and they're honestly not that bad for just a cheap beater and honestly better then my 5 year old megan racings that I had in my white car before going fortune auto
I mean, I tried the MaxSpeed Coilovers and honestly, they are as good as Raceland. Granted, Raceland is not that great either. The point is, I learned a ton putting them on, which was well worth $200 bucks, and once they are broken in, I honestly think they aren't that bad.

Kevin Hibbard when I went straight catback on my e30 I got a pretty noticeable acceleration gain bc the muffler was like 80 lbs on that tiny car

Take a look under the diff and make sure it’s not an lsd, my 325is came with an lsd which can’t be welded unless completely taken apart

BC coils are more or less eBay coils if you live in a country that get anything other than constant sun. Get KW for that.

When the car isnt heavy enough to compress the springs we use ratchet straps to pull up the control arms.
Takes a hammer to smash the interior but uses cleaning products to clean the trailing arm.
