    Whoever played Don an Cosmo were OUT OF THIS WORLD AMAZING!!!!!!! Gene and Donald would be proud and were looking down watching them with pure pride.

      Agreed. Their bromance was believable, too. They gave me 'Vince' and 'Eric' from _Entourage_ vibes. That's an HBO series from the 2000s about a handsome, young movie star and his childhood best friend living the Hollywood life.

    Blown away by the talent of this high school cast. I’ve watched this three times, even borrowed a few bits for my own Don Audition 😉

    Bravo to your lighting designer and set designer embedding those lights into the floor.

    Love how much they did in this, especially the mini-movies used during the musical. Impressive production, and the girl who played Lina was hilarious.

    This production was fantastic and enjoyable to watch. The actor who played 'Don Lockwood' really fit the bill and was convincing as a handsome movie star. Great voice, too. 👍👍

    This is a lavish and staggeringly good production in every area. Great cast. Don and Cosmo stand out particularly and their dance routines are perfectly synchronised. What energy, what with all the singing, dancing and, especially in Don's case, lots of costume changes. Why are so few people viewing this? And where are the credits? We should be told who was involved.

      This school is in the Dallas area and we do have something called the DSM (Dallas Summer Musical) awards. DSM hosts a competition every year between the Dallas high schools and reviews their spring productions, then in the summer they pass out awards (like the Tony's) to the high schools best performances, best costumes, best actor/actress, best choreography, etc. It's a lot of fun and is put on to feel exactly like you're at the Tony's. Every year Pearce High School wins an award, if not first place for overall best production. A lot of the actresses/actors I was going to school with that headlined these productions are now doing off-Broadway plays/musicals. It was really an honor to participate in Pearce's theatre program, it really is one of a kind and above par on a lot of high school productions.

    If this is a high school production it certainly deserves praise, the cast are great. The main drawback viewing it here is the poor audio of the orchestra (as far as I can tell this is because of distant miking and a very reverberant location, probably beyond the control of those making the recording as it is heard with the singing etc but less of a problem) .

    • @DDumbrille
      @DDumbrille 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. The sound team did a lousy job...

    • @bryangl1
      @bryangl1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DDumbrille Getting good capture of the sound for any stage performance is a challenge unless you have the funds for head mikes for the cast (unless an intimate show in a small auditorium), a number of appropriate mikes for the orchestra. Also, normally some mikes for general stage pickup - but a problem in such a reverberant auditorium where trying to mike the stage is a challenge.Then a good mixing desk with skilled techs. I'm guessing you didn't have the funds (and expertise? - can't tell) to meet these challenges. In your case the sound is consistent, the real problem being the lack of the necessary microphones to get around the reverb problem or sufficient orchestra mikes to get a good balance within the orchestra.. Given that, your audio team did a decent job under the circumstances.

      @@bryangl1 This production was done two years after I had graduated from Pearce, but from what I remember when I was in the production of Beauty and the Beast, the actors all have head mics. The orchestra has very limited mics, to no mics at all because of the way the auditorium was built. It's a 500-600 stadium-seating auditorium that also includes balcony seating. It's very similar to the auditoriums you'd find that are built specifically for plays/musicals/performances. I don't think they mic the orchestra heavily because the acoustics in-person are sufficient enough for everyone to hear them. I know that we do bring in professionals to run the sound system and mic everyone, but I remember our budget being limited on the actual number of mics. :(

    • @bryangl1
      @bryangl1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Gingersnapash101 Thank you so much for giving this detailed reply. I see the head mics which would allow the performers to be heard with very little of the ever-present reverb, but I suspect some reverb came from the general pickup of stage mics - also to have the performers audio essentially dry would have clashed with the general acoustic, which would sound odd. In pro musicals like this, they mike every player, various players would need more than one feed (mike or direct instrument feed, drums needing several mikes) to allow manipulation of the audio to make perhaps a dozen, or fewer, players sound like the 30 players used "in days of yore".
      [In huge, big-budget productions, the orchestra can be quite large.]
