+T Brown yes, naked bikes are better! about long trips, you can just put a windscreen(Fairing) for 100-200$ and you are good to go! (they all look ugly with windscreens though :/)
+T Brown watch chasing a kawasaki 2016 zx 10r with a duke 390 on my channel. the break in ride is also there for the zx 10r do subscribe if you like it.
Love the hell out of these, always wanted one. I'd have to say the 03 is the best looking year like EN187 's but these new ones got a unique beast look ! Looked fun!
This is actually my favorite look on the Z1000. The headlights, in my opinion, are some of the best on any motorcycle. This Z, the gen 1 Hayabusa, 2009-2014 R1 and the 2007/08 ZX6R all take top positions on my list of favorite front ends.
I went from a Yamaha R1 to a Kawasaki Z1000 which I ride now and it's my favorite motorcycle ever. Very reliable and torque is epic for fast starts and it pulls and pulls on the freeway. The bike looks much better with a zero gravity windscreen it totally improves the look of the bike.
Kawazaki have being making mean machines since the 70's and the sound has being constant and awesome over the years. A thumbs up for my fave bike review channel.
In 2017, when i will have the A license, i will buy one of those. In the meantime, i will continue enjoying my little 47hp monster 696 :-) I love this z1000! Great video.
The fz-09 is the most fun bike I've ever ridden (which is why I now own one) I have ridden so many different bikes (I work at a yamaha/ktm dealership) and this bike takes the cake on my list of favorite bikes.
The outer part of the exhaust doesn't get hot enough to burn anything, so not really an issue. The Ninja 1000 and Z 1000 are true torque monsters. Ride safe and great review.
I have the 12 z1000 and it will power wheelie in third these are absolute monsters. Guy on our forum hits sub 10s at the strip and it corners beautifully as well.
Iv got 2009 z 750 ( 1st big bike ) love it . Changed the leavers. Tail tidy . Lots of extras. Going back to what you said about your heal of your boot on the exhuat . I like that . That means you can have your toes on the pegs and have your heal supported all the time.
***** The one you rode is actually a 2015. The 2014 has different color scheme (gray/green) while the rest is similar. images.motorcycle-usa.com/PhotoGallerys/14-kawasaki-z1000-6.jpg
+DoubleT90T watch chasing a kawasaki 2016 zx 10r with a duke 390 on my channel. the break in ride is also there for the zx 10r do subscribe if you like it.
Naked bikes can be so much fun! Coming from faired bikes (fz6r, gsxr750) and going to the fz8 was so much fun! You get a similar extra sense of speed like being in a very low to the ground sports car. Riding a naked bike you don't have that whole cluster out in front and so it appears you are going faster than you are. Too much fun!
Before I got my FJR1300 I had a Z1000. Great bike. Wants to be ridden fast, but at high speeds the handle bars shake like crazy. Always felt that the engine was so high strung that it could not relax. Nuff said. Great bike, loved it, but I can only have one bike at a time!
I've watched 6 of your videos in a row and every single bike you've reviewed you've started off with either "oh my gawd" or "oh my goodness"...so funny! Subbed!
I love the honest review! As any rider does, I've been keeping an eye out for what to replace my current bike with (which you heavily influenced, I might add)
I own a 2010 z. I love that bike to death. Changing the mufflers to a more open exhaust really improves the heat of the engine. It runs a lot cooler. I ride in shorts all day all the time. I only got burned from oem stock mufflers. After changing them it quit happening. Ride safe and have fun
Bought a Z1000sx (Ninja 1000 in US?), which is basically this bike but with a fairing. Gotta say how much I love it. Engine can be a bit vibey, but stable in the corners, awesome torque & acceleration. I replaced the standard exhausts with Scorpion cans and the sound is so deep and amazing. Gotta love it :)
YarekBalear ...also, p.s. when you've that much torque in almost any gear (apart from first), then a gear indicator is superfluous :P On my test ride, I was convinced the speedometer was in km/h, because it felt slow but I was flying past cars and realised I was actually travelling in mph :P
***** i asked him for that since the first one he did :D i have an older one 955i with the 120hp, and damn she has got and loves the pull. and the 3 cyl. crackle and pop is just awesome. have a nice day/ride save!
Driven a friend of mine's yesterday , amazing little bike , gorgeus design , i would leave it for a beginer no problem , if you don't twist the throttle definatelly does not feel like want to kill you at every mistake you make .
Quick note on the clutch and gear change issue you talked about. I have a 2015 Z1000 - basically identical to the one you tested. Absolutely agree with shifting that it seems that you need to be hard on it in order to feel solid tactile feedback. Here's something interesting though. I just did my first oil change and put in V300 instead of whatever factory crap they put in it. After doing that, shifting feels way better. The tactile piece of the equation is greatly improved. That being said, I'm only 100 or so miles into it, so maybe it will return to the old feel, but I thought it was worth noting. Engine also feels smoother. You stay classy.
I love that bike!! There was so many times, I wanted to buy it. It just looks so good, and from the video it looks like the power and torque are delivered nicely... probably better than my old ducati monster 796
I love Kawasaki but I just prey that one day their standard cans were better. Always bloody heavy and not the best sound. Love this bike btw have seriously considered it and the Z800 as an upgrade.
Btw, the large bar ends helped with throttle control (resting half your hand on the end) and basically controlling the throttle with your fingers until you get used to it.
This is a love or hate bike. When I had first seen it in the showroom I thought it was the most amazing thing I had ever laid my eyes on. However, almost every opinion from other people about the bike was negative, they hated the insect type front end. If I didn't already have my FZ, I would own this bike.
I don't like the droopy front nose, or the oversized exhaust cans, but other than that... I like it! First mod: tail-tidy. Second mod: exhaust slip-ons.
Well Chaseontwowheels, now you know how i felt leaving the dealership with one of these last year. Never ridden it before and never test driven. saw it and was like HOLYOMGIBUYUNOW!. Then when i left the dealer ship i was graced with my first ever wheelie in my 8 years of riding. Bike is Awesome and handles awesome. btw i got rid of the bell shapped muffler things and put on some Urban Brawlers and removed the mirrors and added bar ends and got motodynamic all in one sequential LED turn signal taillights and fender eliminated.
+Flashwing I couldn't stop smiling when I test rode one. Then I bought it a couple days later and still gives me a shit eating grin every time I twist the throttle.
+Flashwing watch chasing a kawasaki 2016 zx 10r with a duke 390 on my channel. the break in ride is also there for the zx 10r do subscribe if you like it.
***** Thank you so much for doing this review! I got the 2014 Z1000 this March. It is an absolute pleasure to ride and the torque on that thing is absurd! The suspension is harsh and the wind noise is crazy. But once it starts pulling through, the acceleration is addicting. FYI the bike you rode is a 2015 Z1000 and not a 2013. The 2013s were the previous generation. This gen started with 2014.
Then get the Ninja 1000. I'm 6'2", 175#, and it's all day comfy, but still has all the same chops as the naked version. Brakes and suspension are excellent and you're not going to notice the extra weight of the full fairing. What you will notice is that the wind protection is excellent.
You can find them new for the price of a Z1000 (or less), not hard at all. Might be last year's model but it's brand new still. Hell, I've seen a red/black 2011 Ninja 1000 brand new on Cycletrader for like $8,600 USD. I'd call them and say no way. I'd give them $7,500 out the door for it since it's 5 years old. If they are not close you can say you have to pay to have it shipped so $7,500 out the door is as high as you'll go. Back in 2011 when the Ninja 1000 came out the price was $10,999 USD. I got it for $8,299 USD because they weren't selling. Now you tell me they still didn't make a profit on the bike???!!!
NO NO NO Chase... Thats the '15 (prolly been corrected a buncha times by now though). They changed the design in '14! Got mine right after your meet. Wish I coulda been there. Been recording a bit now. Gonna post some vids soon of mine ('14) Love it. Great review. I agree with everything 'cept for the mirrors. I really like them. Wanna take 'em off but I can see so much makes me feel safer.
That's crazy I started watching your videos just to watch bikes run from cops and I thought all the roads you were on looked familiar. Then you said you're in Marietta and I'm like that's where I live! Haha
like you said in the beginning that the FZ09 competes with this bike. ive owned an fz09 for about 2 months no. A the mirrors do kinda suck but not as bad as the z1000. the bike is stupid light and nimble and you ride it just like a super moto. super flat torque curve so power everywhere and being only an 847cc in A mode on the throttle the front tire hates the ground like you wouldn't believe. hope to see your opinion soon have fun ride safe.
I love these bikes, but why does Kawasaki put the ugliest damn exhaust pipes they could possibly create on their bikes. If you need a reference look at the H2
No shit. Its like they spend all of this time and energy on their bikes appearances and then they say well we still need an exhaust pipe and the development team just says well fuck it
Which one will be a better buy? The Triumph speed triple or The Kawaski Z1000. Main concerns are Sound, Torque, Power and performance. Have to do the street riding.
I used to like full sport bikes the most but now I think naked bikes are better. They have a better ride position, lower insurance and better price.
+T Brown yes, naked bikes are better! about long trips, you can just put a windscreen(Fairing) for 100-200$ and you are good to go! (they all look ugly with windscreens though :/)

I remember that exact same feeling the day I bought my z1000... the first time I felt that engine... still brings tears to my eyes
was it your first bike? just curious since it seems super easy to ride
@@RaulRamirez-qq4td its very very easy to ride... but its a fucking buzz saw too.the only thing easy about it is riding position. The power is REAL
Hmm where can you get all the parts for it? It’s my dream bike and I want to get a bike I can customize easily. By that I mean getting the parts
Love the hell out of these, always wanted one. I'd have to say the 03 is the best looking year like EN187 's but these new ones got a unique beast look ! Looked fun!
bakerXderek Oh it totally was man and I would definitely agree. The look of these is very interesting for sure, but not my favorite look of this bike.
***** Dude you ever ridden a z800? should test one out :D
Srib whats the difference? i can only think less weight and power? less weight is good though
Meterz. Actually its more weight xD and I've never ridden a z1000 before so I wouldn't be able to tell you but I guess is just less power
I have an 03 z1000 and I have fallen in love with the character that bike has. It is so growly and wants to go all the time.

Bro I just got an FZ 09 earlier this week and it is amazing. If you liked the FZ 07 you're going to love the 09.
I owned the faired version of this bike, and i loved the engine. Glad you did too!

I bought my z1 based on this video. Best purchase i ever made.. however i would recommend keeping an eye on that kawasaki valve cover oil leak issue.
I'm still running my gen 3 2012 Z1000, I love this bike so much and don't have the heart to replace her yet. Yes, it is a wheelie monster.
@The USS Johnston Holy crap man! She'll be even more awesome!
The outer part of the exhaust doesn't get hot enough to burn anything, so not really an issue. The Ninja 1000 and Z 1000 are true torque monsters. Ride safe and great review.
just bought one of these . have added new race exhausts, steering damper and some other bits. Cracking bike.

Glad you reviewed this one! I love the z1000. This is the 2014 model though, as they introduced the newer non reflective headlight display then.

please can you review a ducati 999 as its my favourite bike and i can't find many videos of it
