Keep in mind that other attorneys at his firm would have Alex do the closing arguments on injury cases (testimony during prosecution case) because Alex could show distress and cry over clients he didn't know. As an experienced lawyer, his first attempt to find out who killed them was to make sure no one contaminated the horrible crime scene, not to call everyone he supposedly wanted to comfort him, his son and his loving, loving wife were viciously murdered. Well then you aren't very experienced. Who in their right mind would even think of that if they came upon their family killed. You would not think logically. This was a shoddy investigation at best. He is definitely guilty of all the financials, the drug addiction, but I do not believe he pulled the trigger. Most cases of familicide end with suicide right on the spot. If he was guilty, he would NOT have taken the stand. Period.

He’s literally been nodding his head the entire trial. Although I’d call it more of a nervous bobble. Isn’t that like Rule #1 in body language? A baseline must first be established? Anybody who’s watched Alex at all in this trial would know that he’s constantly bobbling throughout. I love Dr. Lillian Glass. So insightful! Alex saying "I wouldn't hurt Maggie and Paul INTENTIONALLY" stuck with me too. I wondered if he'd shot Paul the first time by accident, then thought all hell would break loose since he already had financial crimes, boat trial, etc. so he finished the job. Buuuut.....everything was so premeditated from the blue raincoat, clean clothes at the ready, luring Maggie and Paul both there that night, going to his mother's that time of night when he usually did not, asking Shelley and the other caregiver to lie/remember things differently, lying to police and SLED, etc., etc.
Alex called all his lawyer buddies before calling Buster - as if to halt the fraud against him and boat case took precedence over Buster's safety?! 🚩🚩🚩 Alex wasn't concerned about his own safety, the safety of everyone he called to come to Moselle, nor Busters.
Alex expects us to believe that Ninjas crept onto the property without their own weapons, knew Maggie and Paul would be there that night in that short window of time. It would be comedic if it weren't so tragic.

To be as objective as possible here: I've had a problem with 'body language experts' all my life. The thing is, it's been proven by neurologists, psychologists, and psychiatrists (real scientists, not charlatans) that the claim that every person in the world reacts to the same things in the same way, with the same gestures, is simply not true. There is no such thing as completely universal gestures.
And there is no such thing as being able to fully and correctly judge what a person is thinking or whether their reactions are 'real', based on body language. In fact, there are many cases where some people behave completely differently from the 'expected' human behavior in a given situation, and this doesn't mean that they are lying or hiding something. There have been many cases that have ended in tragedy because of 'interpretations' like this. Because it is ultimately just an interpretation, and it is still mostly people who judge strangers through a TV/laptop screen. Sorry but body language experts are mostly complete nonsense. Research it if you don't believe me.

    • @bowtoyoursensei554
      @bowtoyoursensei554 ปีที่แล้ว

Thank you. Body language "science" has been shown to be mostly junk science. There's a very good reason that the observations of a body language "expert" are not admissible as evidence in a court of law.
So far, the purported "fact-driven, unbiased reporting" claimed by NewsNation during it's short existence has proven to be nothing but sensationalized pandering to a rabid, confirmation-bias-driven audience. Fact-driven reporting reports FACTS, not opinions presented as facts.
I believe the man is guilty, but because of the mountain of evidence against him, not because of this or that movement he has repeatedly made every minute of the trial, whether he's speaking or not.

I respectfully disagree with your body language expert in regard to AM's head & body motions in this clip. Many years ago I was also addicted to oxycontin. I was prescribed 80mg X 12 pills per day. That's 960mg of "synthetic heroin" every day for over 5 years. For me, the "skin crawling" was the worst w/d symptom. I think AM gave a really good description to the physical w/d symptoms, but coupled with the mental symptoms, it takes the description of "feeling like you have the flu" to a whole new level. After I'd been clean for several months, I mentioned to my doctor that after all this time, when I laid down to go to sleep each night, the bottom half of my legs & feet were still feeling like my skin was crawling. In response, I would kick my feet & rub my legs & even give up on trying to sleep at all, because of it. My doctor told me that it was perfectly normal to continue to have this "ghost w/d" symptom. That it was my body's way of trying to trick me into using again. He told me it could continue for the rest of my life. That was 12 years ago. That creepy crawly feeling isn't as frequent as it was early on, but it does surface unexpectedly, on a regular basis. As a result of trying to comfort myself through the "ghost w/d" symptom I would rock my body. These physical movements are involuntary, and are a direct lasting result from my years long addiction to oxycontin. I don't know if AM is guilty of killing his wife & son, but I feel that the body language expert should have taken much more in to consideration before coming to her conclusion. Thank you.

people remember trauma quite specifically. I'm a therapist, substance abuse therapist as well. people are blinded by their feelings with this case. he's telling the truth. and admitting to a life sentence worth of other crimes in the process. this is his final and only chance for catharsis after lying for 20 years. body language experts are mostly full of it anyway, and that's why their testimony still isn't allowed in court. get a therapist or psychologist on this show who specializes in trauma and working with the antisocial.

It’s lovely to believe everyone is good, but the truth is there are a lot of sick messed up people in the world. Most of us try to justify other’s behaviour as good or bad based on how we would have behaved in a situation, but let’s be honest, regardless of who killed his wife and son, this guy is an evil psychopath that duped innocent people out of their money and made their lives a living hell. Someone like this can not be believed in any setting.

I’m a recovering addict and let’s please not blame the drugs. Especially not OPIOIDS. Meth and similar drugs may make someone commit murder but opioids do not. The person is so physically ill that they can barely function when they don’t have it, and so euphoric and happy and mellow when they do. Every drug is different. You can’t chalk this up to drugs. The truth of it is that he’s a terrible human being and the worst kind of narcissist. He does everything to further his own agenda. He killed his family because of MONEY, not drugs. There’s zero evidence he even had a serious habit let alone was THAT desperate. I assure you, if he was heavily addicted, everyone close to him would know including his partners and clients. You can’t miss it. He killed them because Maggie was going ti divorce him and take a ton of assets, and because Paul was costing him money and reputation. Welcome to people doing bad things JUST because they’re bad people.
Ps I never hurt a fly during my addiction. Drugs don’t equal murder. Bad character and drugs might, but not drugs alone unless they cause a psychotic break. Which opioids do not.

He's not subconsciously nodding "yes", he's consciously pretending to be subconsciously rocking back and forth, deliberately displaying a well-known self-soothing, calming, motion (like rocking a baby). He does this calculatedly, to fake what he thinks is a display of distress whenever their dead bodies are mentioned; he's done this throughout the trial.

There is something she is missing as a person not from the South. Slightly misread. His lip movement refers to how people in the South use Tabak in their mouths. Snuff. This is very important to recognize. Waters even stated that Mr. Owen gave him water and tabak (snuff). Most of the US will never know these Southern patterns, traditions and body language. Just because some are detail-oriented and others are not says very little. Also in the South telling long stories is a type of norm. Being in the South in the country... That is a very special setting. It is also inaccurate to state that decade-long drug use can and will not change a person's behavior and movements. There are many studies on this. Those who detox, fall back on drugs and even commit suicide because they need the drug so intensely, the urge returns without support. It's a huge struggle according to studies and reports.

Scene was not preserved, not measured correctly, not well photographed and therefore, wrong conclusion reached. Cops didn't bother to look for real killers, 2 of them - 1 of whom may have been a female. Thank you.

Who wouldn't be uncomfortable in this situation? If you have watched the whole trial you will see that he nods like this quite often and this is something I see frequently in people who are in recovery from opioid addiction - it is like a tick or a tremor. You also speak about him having "cottonmouth" - it is entirely possible that he could be on a medication like methadone or Suboxone to help keep him away from the pills he was addicted to and their euphoric effect. All of these kinds of medications including antidepressants and sleeping pills give you a very dry mouth, and I'm sure after everything he has been through he would be on some of these prescription medications to try and keep himself balanced. As for the "rocking" behaviour that she discusses, this is something that I (and many others) do subconsciously on a fairly regular basis and to me it is a coping mechanism that helps me feel comforted when I am thinking or discussing topics or issues that are traumatic/ difficult for me to talk about. I'm not saying he's innocent but I don't like these one-sided assessments when the "expert" fails to acknowledge other perfectly reasonable explanations for the behaviour they are criticizing. Why doesn't she discuss any other possible explanations? The same with the comment about mucus coming from his nose. You see him reach into multiple pockets on his suit jacket on several occasions to get Kleenex, but only has the one small tissue that he holds crumpled up in his hand.

NON BIAS prosecution parroting: He did quite a good job.. apparently 1 or 2 jurors were crying. That however I don't like at all, but then again they haven't been exposed to the extreme amount of prosecution parroting that is going on online and tv, so hearing Alex was probably quite shocking for them especially considering how well he battled here and how good his acting is if this is indeed and act.......
85% of the population would have got folded up like a pretzel during even their own defenses examination of this. Obviously he is a lawyer, and it's fascinating to see him kind of hit each pitch so to speak. Not saying they're all good hits or home runs but it is like he's able to put bat on ball in every exchange.
I honestly think the biggest thing they got him on today was never calling Paul Paw Paw before.
My mind is really still not made up on this case. Listen people with the AMOUNT OF MONEY HE WAS STEALING, ok that's absolutely been fleshed out in court to be around 8 million right? So we know he has 8 million in bad blood from stealing money. Then we know he's dealing with tons of drugs. Then we know of two other things we have to throw in the boat accident and the gay teen. Then lastly we have to calculate the general hate they may have towards them for running the entire town for so long, putting people behind bars, Alex pretending to be LE and just how they generally may have been rich assholes to some people......
That's a lot of reasons out there for someone to want to off one or more of the Murdaughs. I mean seriously. The prosecution is in danger. The lack of physical evidence at the scene is insane. SLED really messed this up. As someone trying to be objective about this being a murder case not a financial case, Paw Paw thing is the first thing I've seen in a while that is fairly suspicious for me. In fact it is quite suspicious.
If I'm a juror I still have a reasonable doubt and I'm begging the prosecution to come with it. I don't want to say this guy is not guilty because I lean towards he is but I still have reasonable doubt.
With the two different guns..not being found, and everything we've seen so far my most rational mind honestly thinks it was two shooters. I keep thinking it'd be difficult for one person to do this without one of the victims getting away??? It literally seems like they were both ambushed simultaneously, because prosecution hasn't actually put this MURDER scene together at all for us. They need diagrams and descriptions of how it happened and make it make sense with evidence but....they can't do that now right. If I think it's two shooters I'm really not sure if they were hired by Alex considering he apparently had people on speed dial that would shoot him or anyone he asked or it was really a revenge thing from the plethora of vendettas against him....

Riding up in a golf cart with these two weapons and killing both with different weapons without either getting away? Didn't Paul essentially get a shotgun shot from up under his chin too? I realize AM could be a good marksman....but this seems like a 1 in a 100 chance you pull that off killing two mobile people with two different weapons firing from a golf cart....

I realize also that using two different guns could have been part of his plan to confuse........I'm just struggling with this because the prosecution needs to put together a better picture of how they think it happened. I heard them mention "family annihilator" today, I thought that was good. Ala Chris Watts!!!! Is AM a family annihilator? That's a very interesting thought to me and kind of helps you comprehend why AM would possibly do this simply due to crushing financial pressure which to us seems completely unrelated but a family annihilator is different obviously

Let’s hope the prosecution stops running around the financial crimes & get to the grit & expose who Alex really is. They have more than enough out there imo to take this guy down, but will they do it 🤔 so far I have seen a lot of missed opportunities.
His actions in the boat accident & blatant abuse of power over LE etc need to be driven home now.

Why would you believe corrupt SLED Cops and this prosecutor who admitted on the stand they lied (softer word mislead, gave false information ) 2 times to the Grandjury? They gave knowingly false information to the grand jury so they could arrest Alex. Why would you trust them?
They admitted they knew the Tshirt had only animal blood. But let it leak to the Press and told the grand jury Alex had Splattered HUMAN blood on it when they knew it was Animal.
SLED /COPS lied about the shot gun cartridge arrangement, knowing it was false information to the Grand Jury too.
SLED/COPS/ and this prosecutor found UNKNOWN MALE DNA under Maggies fingernails and have refused to enter it into a National DATA base . Why on earth would you trust them?
I think they should be fired. This is not special treatment. Alex feared the corruption of SLED and COPS. He talked when he should not have and never asked for any favors.
Yes he is a PIG and should be in jail for stealing from his clients. This is not just a Alex problem. I am fighting corrupt lawyers and judges in Alabama right now doing it to my disabled brother. Huge FBI investigation of corrupt lawyers doing this to the elderly, disabled and poor. Its wide spread and I hope people use this to expose corrupt lawyers. A Judge and lawyer in Alabama were found guilty of doing this to elderly clients , stealing money and land.
Maybe Alex to redeme himself will start working for the FBI to help them catch corrupt lawyers.
I am fighting them now in Alabama for what they did to my disabled brother when my mom left money in a trust for him and me.
The big story is the COPs lied again , as they have done to get the conviction they want. And ADMITTED to it on the stand 🥴🤪😡😡😡😡

What do those have to do with the murders? If the prosecution hasn’t already gotten to the grit and exposed who Alex really is, given they’ve already rested their case, I’d say that’s a major problem in a murder trial where the state has the burden of proof. AM has no burden.

We don't need an authority to rubber stamp human gestures- the fact that he took the stand is the best thing that happened so far. He's coming off as being very credible. The revenge against Paul motive makes sense- the financial motive doesn't. It's clear that he cared about his wife and son.

Here's the sad fact. The people who pulled the trigger are getting away with it. They never followed leads into Paul's numerous threats. There were definitely 2 shooters. The trajectory does not match his height. And the word "intentionally" is being over analysed. We all have used this conjecture. Everything is easy "after the fact". No one here has witnessed this type of horror first hand. They pegged Alex that very night. Never searched elsewhere. Shoddy investigation.

They found blood spatter on his shirt, so they basically already proved he was there at the crime scene at the time it happened. They tracked his footsteps and movements around the house/ in the area. He has never described what the people may have looked or been dressed like. None of what’s he’s saying adds up.

The nodding is a nervous tick. He has done it since day one. Even when he’s not speaking, when no one is speaking he nods and even rocks back and forth. It seems to be self soothing.
I’m surprised this “professional” would be willing to make such a blanket statement based on a single excerpt. It’s irresponsible to say such a thing without observing him over a long period of time in different settings. Body language isn’t one size fits all.
If he’d gone into too little detail people would pick it apart. Too much or too little detail, no matter what I think people would find a way to find a problem with it.

Internally ? The brain processes are very complex. If you are addicted to drugs and overuse...prolonged..it causes long term affects aaaand effects the neurological system and body systems. And a normal reposonse to grief? Have you lost as spouse or child!? I lost a spouse and let me clarify I cried to point of snot pouring, puking and there is not a pinpoint on grief. Everyone responds differently. And this is fact based both by experience as well as, medical knowledge...I'm not saying he's not guilty...I'm saying you're facts are very inconsistent...you can obtain all certificates and degrees you want but truth and facts are this...body response is different under different circumstances and drug abuse causes long term effects. Period. I've witnessed family members in such shape
