    Screw cap covers the top of the fill tube. Dust and dirt can get in on the ones where you just shove the gas nozzle in. Its rare, but it happens to people that really bounce around in the mud and sand.

      Toyota builds these Tacoma’s with simplicity in mind. That’s what makes them so great and reliable. Screw gas cap gets my vote!

    Thank you Jason. Another video where I learned a lot of things. My wife and I were walking and she asked me about an enclosed cargo trailer we passed. I went off on a 5 minute tangent on why this one was good and why you'd want this or that and watch out for this and that. I was all walking around it pointing and stuff. She was like WTH? I said " Oh yeah.. Traditional Bowhunter taught me that" LOL Keep up the good work!

    Great review Sir. Makes me feel world is not falling apart when someone appreciates a truck for being a good truck and doesn’t gripe about lack of car features!
    Btw gas cap is a must- wife’s car was cap-less, she was in a rollover accident (not her fault) and ended up on side with fuel door popped open and down. Gas flowed out and significantly impaired emergency extrication due to fire/explosion risk. I now advocate gas cap.

    Hi, I am also from Michigan. I just replaced a Tundra with a Tacoma TRD Off Road. I like the smaller size, so much easier to live with for all the reasons you gave. If I want to explain why I wanted the Tacoma I should just have them watch you. I wanted to share something that I came across you may want to to do with yours. I found when I don't have my boots on, I feel the gas peddle is too stiff, but there is a really easy 5 min fix I found and it makes all the difference. There are two 10 mm nuts holding the pedal to the firewall, and a simple wire connector. I first removed the two nuts, then the the electrical connector. There are four little clips holding the cover on the pedal assembly, carefully pry all four and the cover pops right off. There are two concentric springs that pop out easily. I just removed the inner spring and then put the big spring back, popped cover on, and that was it.

    • @tradbowpodcast
      @tradbowpodcast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you are loving the truck too! This is a great tip. I have not experienced a hard gas pedal in mine but if anyone else does they sure will appreciate this info.

    Nice review…big Tacoma fan here…son has a 2002 TRD off road (my best friend bought it new then sold it to my son), it has a 5 inch lift with 33” KO2s, ARB bumper with Warn winch and now around 280k miles. I bought my 2019 TRD Off Road new in Jan of 19…I now have 171k miles on it. Both of our trucks have been trouble free except for routine maintenance. My son did have to replace his clutch and drive shaft…but being lifted all its life the drive shaft lasted a long time. We rare fanatics about maintenance though…oil at 5k (synthetic)…everyone says it’s not necessary, but we drive a lot and peace of mind means a lot.
    We too use our trucks off road quite a bit, as we have a horse farm (bordered by a river). We have a few cars, but love the Tacomas. We just recently bought my wife a 4Runner (TRD Pro in that loud Lime Rush color). Good luck with the Tacoma, again great review!!

      @tradbowpodcast  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome! So glad to hear you guys have great luck with the tscomas and love them! I'm the same when it comes to maintenance and also do my own oil changes at 5k. Just can't see why going 10k miles on oil would be a good idea..lol

    • @tradbowpodcast

      Mine did not come with mud guards. The stock ones are not very flexible for off road. I bought these from rekgen. Link in video description. I bought front and rears but only put the fronts on. The rear is well protected with 3m tape and high departure angle so less likely to get stone chips.

    Man! What a great life in your Tacoma. Makes me feel I should have gotten the TRD Pro (instead of my 2022 Sport 2x4, Lol!). I like your bed setup with all the gear clear off the bed floor.... I'm buying the long toolbox for my daily driving, and on camping trips I'll reinstall the box with the outlet. Its got more room for tools... I have a basket roof rack from my previous 2-Gen Taco. That's what I'll use on trips... Question; when you roll the tonneau up, do the frame bars roll along with the vynil or do they stay in place?

    Jason - quick question for you - my son and I were tearing it up on our ranch in Texas in our 2022 TRD Off-Road and we have the stock tires on the truck... we punctured the back left tire pretty quickly and had to swap for the spare. We cannot have that happen again out in the country where the population density is extremely low. Are the tires you chose 10 ply? 8 ply? We need to high grade. My only hesitation on heavier tires is the hit on MPG, stopping/acceleration, and road noise, but I simply cannot be in this situation again. Our ranch is very rocky and rough and we need tires that can take a severe beating and get us the heck out when we are done exploring / hunting. So, my question is... on your 265/75s (which I intend to upgrade to) what's the weight of your tires / ply and have you noticed any of the above downsides?

    • @tradbowpodcast
      @tradbowpodcast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I never drove on the stock tacoma tires as I had the dealer swap to these goodyear ultraterrain e rated 10 ply tires before I picked it up. But I get about 20mpg at 65, 19mpg at 70 and 18mpg at 75. The tires are not loud on the road at all. 10 ply is all I have Owen on my last 9 trucks. I won't own anything else for the same reason you want to switch. I almost never get a flat and if I do it's usually a nail and I can pull it and plug the tire in under 2 mins. Falken wild peaks are also amazing 10 ply tires. You would have to look up the weights to verify exactly. But I love mine and will never use anything but 10 ply

Yet there is an entire section in the manual specifically targeted towards the onboard navigation system (which did not come pre-installed on my vehicle). Do you know anything about this or a possible glitch/fix so I can get a navigation system installed and not have to rely on apple carplay? I am thinking of selling my tacoma later this year to buy a 2023 just as I can get more years out of this proven design before the new style 24 gets here and ruins it all.
