      I’ve got the TRD Off road.. that locker saved my ass once already.. I was off roading in 6 inches of snow through the fields.. I was a blast.. 20 minutes go by,no problems, than I start going up an incline at a bad angle and not enough speed... my truck stood still, and little did I know the ground wasn’t frozen so it was mud under the snow. I WAS DUG IN GOOD!! I tried and I tried and I could not get out, noway no how... and I’m with my wife in the middle of no damn where..If I didn’t get out and she was going to have to hike a few miles through the snow there would BE HELL TO PAY!! I tried doing some shoveling with a makeshift crap ass shovel.. didn’t really do anything... than I had a light bulb moment..Take the PSI from 35 down to 17.. I took all four tires down, I was a bit worried though because the belly and everything else already looked hung up UN the snow as it was.... but it was my only option.. so I’ve got the PSI Down, if got 4x4, and I’ve got my rear locker on.. low and behold I rocked her out, but not without a bit of a fight!!! I really don’t think I would have gotten out without the rear locker though.. I’m certain of it.

There's videos of it showing it works in 2wd or 4wd engaged, front and rear axles. LOL at people who flame sport/sr5 owners for lack of gimmicky things like crawl control. Dude you will need crawl control 1/100 chance and also the average tacoma driver will NEVER use it. Not to mention the fact that a rear diff locker can be added on for a relatively low price, and that will probably get you farther than the stock locker or crawl control will. Yeah its a good back up plan if you off-road every week, but who the heck takes their brand new truck they haven't even paid off out to potentially damage it/void warranty. The average tacoma user buys this truck for commuting, reliability, and low depreciation. Just my 2 cents ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
    If you bought an off-road, thats great, but don't flame fellow taco owners because they didn't buy something they don't need.

    • @DrivenCompanion
      @DrivenCompanion  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The SR5 is definitely very capable without multi-terrain select or a locking diff, but I did get stuck in the snow once and figured I'd try crawl control just to see if it helped and it got me out - I think situations where it helps will be rare but its still another tool in the toolbox that could come in handy.

    • @Shakerhood69

    • @alexkram
      @alexkram 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      ATRAC is on TRD Manual trans models only. The TRD Autos have a system called MTS. The SR5s have a less aggressive system called TRAC that does indeed work like limited slip on front and rear axles. in SR5sTRAC is on by default when in 4LO (unlike the TRD versions, where the MTS or ATRAC is off by default and must be turned on manually). See my video where my SR5 can pull itself off jack stands with just one front wheel on the ground. For a better understanding of the Gen 3 traction control systems, see this forum post:

    In those conditions, tires, tire pressure, power, clearance, locking diff, and all that aside, if you lose momentum, you are sunk. If you were that worried about the first 2 runs, you should have walked it first and marked obstacles/hazards, but that approach speed was like a tired old dog.

    So the crawl control makes the truck climb by itself? Where is the driver abilities and professional, plus i didn’t see any difference between both honestly both of them needed 2 attempts , i might be an old fashion and like to be in control when it comes to driving

    • @DrivenCompanion
      @DrivenCompanion  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think with the SR5 Matt had to choose a better line and maintain more momentum while Richard could go a little slower and take a more challenging route because of the locking rear diff. Crawl control automatically adjusts the throttle and will allow the truck to climb itself.
