We went a little over a week ago at about 5pm and it was wildly crowded. The line to go up was only about 10-15 minutes, but we had to wait well over an hour to get back down. It was actually our least favorite thing we did on our trip because of that. So touristed. They also packed the funicular SO full it was incomfortablr with people pressing into your back. A couple people in our group just hiked down to avoid the line but a few with mobility issues couldn't. When we got down, they had put a sign out warning there 'may be longer wait times', so if you see that, id say don't do it. Unless you're ok with a 1.5 hour standing line (albeit with a nice view).

im going there in july as well, still thinking whether to prebuy tickets
Nearly the same experience we had 2 weeks ago. The brought up so many people they had to add extra unscheduled funicular trips back down. We ended up missing our train out of Ost and it was after 9pm so we had to wait almost an hour for the next train.
It was a pretty view, but not worth the headache of getting back down.

There are technically 2 lines at the lower station - one for people with tickets and one for people who need to buy a ticket. But there’s just one queue for the ride down.
And unfortunately it can be crowded in the summer, but it’s not unusual for them to add in additional journeys to handle the crowds. (This is actually pretty common for all mountain transportation in the entire Jungfrau region!) But it can be disappointing to wait in a long line just to ride back down.

You two are GREAT! We absolutely LOVED our trip to this area...even tho we had poor weather! We were there in April...and the rain on the lower areas brought SNOW to the upper areas....it was a fantastic trip due to all of your tips and suggestions! We spent 7 days at the Grand Hotel Geissbach and loved being on the quieter side of things.We will be back again to explore more! ❤

One of our favourite memories of being in Switzerland last June, was of the blistering sunshine as we were heading up harder kulm...when we got to the top we saw ominous looking clouds rolling in after about 10 mins, so quickly hopped on the funicular back down....que being caught up in a torrential and hilarious thunderstorm/rainstorm/hail storm as we stepped off and legged it back to the train station whilst everyone else took shelter, looking at us like we're crazy 🤣🤣🤣 so fun! We were absolutely drenched!

I was there last July and saw the most beautiful pink and orange sunset!! the moon was full and it started rising between the snowy mountain peaks as the sky went dark. gorgeous. the way down was terribly busy and messy because it was the last ride scheduled, but I managed to catch the late night bus back to lauterbrunnen anyway.

It can absolutely get super busy, unfortunately! With good reason - the sunset is amazing!!
@@MK-gz1xtvery unpredictable, one minute’s raining and the next one is a beautiful sunny day. same goes the other way round, clear skies and suddenly foggy. sometimes the weather app says it will be a rainy day but it’s only a couple hours. temperature wise, i only wore shorts one day cause it was pretty chilly most of the time, specially early in the morning!

Been there last month (beginning of may) and went to harder kulm mid-afternoon and the lines were terrible. About an hour to go up and 45 min to go back down... I think going early in the morning as you recommended is a good idea.

Fantastic as ever 😀 I have been up there a few times. Glad to see there’s a playground there now because there was not too much to do for little ones in the past.
We loved the wildlife park at the bottom as well :) (who doesn’t love a marmot? 😜)
Also, and I don’t know if you do requests (😜), but are you going to do a video about Axalp; I’ve heard they’ve opened the chair lift for the summer season for the first time - I’d never even heard about it and there’s no other summer chair lifts in the area anymore!
A playground was a fantastic addition! Especially with so many local families in Interlaken who buy season tickets.
We aren't planning a full video on Axalp, but we do expect to include it in another video we're making soon!!
I am going next week but the weather doesn't seem to be good, hopefully we will have at least one day with sunshine

We've definitely seen these castles and ruins, but never anything with this type of architecture!

Hi Isabelle! Unfortunately we're not able to offer medical advice. But Harder Kulm is at about 4000-4500 feet (around 1200 meters of elevation). So you could probably get some good advice from your doctor. Hope you're able to visit!

Hi can talk about what to wear for early summer in June? I’ll be going next week, expecting warm temperature but afraid the weather is unpredictable, not sure what to wear
Layers I should think. It has been very cool in the jungfrau region and for much of May there was significant late snow. I would be prepared for anything!

@@jerryong8783 No, it's nice and warm at normal elevations BUT it was quite a rainy year so far. Not heavy but a lot of drizzle.

Is it possible to cover Harder Kulm and top of Eurore in a day ?
Hi there! You could definitely do both, especially since Harder Kulm stays open late. TIP: Go to Jungfraujoch early in the morning to beat the crowds, then you'll have plenty of time to enjoy the experience, come back down, and even rest a bit if you need to before heading up to Harder Kulm. Enjoy!
I will be staying in grindelwald and I want to see the sunset on harder kulm, whats the latest transportation from interlaken to grindelwald?

Is there a Protestant church in the Jungfrau that has services in English? We are staying in Wengen. Just bought the guide to the region.
There are a handful of churches in the area! GFC Unterseen offers English translation, and there may be an English service in Wengen as well but I’m not positive!
Do you know the name of the start point of the one mile and two mile hike up? We are here for the summer and it would be nice to make the hike!
Way to go! You can start the hike up right at the lower Harder Kulm station - there are a handful of signs right there! But just a warning that it's a steep uphill climb the whole way, posted at 2 hours, so make sure you're in good shape! Have fun :)

We have an STP 1st class as well as BO pass. Do tickets still need to be purchased? Or can we just arrive anytime and hop in line for venicular?
If you have a Bernese oberland pas, you can hop on for free 😀

@MrGreatplum is correct! The BO pass is your ticket so you can go in the left hand line for passengers with tickets.
If you have one of the train passes that allow you to ride for free do you get to skip the ticket line or do you still have to get a ticket?
We used the Berner Oberland Pass and it was our ticket.

The view there is really beautiful! Also very nice to have a cheese fondue on the panoramic terrace. I do think that too many people are put into the funicular, so you don't get value for your money.. It was so busy and hot last week and you were completely crushed that i almost got a panic attack... because of this I wouldn't recommend it.
It's definitely tough to balance the enjoyment of these places with the sheer number of people who also want to enjoy them. We're glad you had beautiful views when you were there!
