Stay In Meiringen. About 30 minutes East of Interlaken. Small town with all amenities. Train transfer point to Lucerne and Zurich. Great bus options. 5 hotels plus one hostel. Have stayed here 9 times.

@Aplins in the Alps Wish I had the time to stay for months in Switzerland, actually let me rephrase it, I wish the wifey would allow me to before she became "Dog The Bounty Hunter" and came looking for me. I have stayed in Gimmelwald and what an experience it was. Can’t wait to be back in this magical region. I have stayed both in Esther’s Guesthouse and Olle & Maria’s B&B in Gimmelwald.
It’s where I stayed the first time I went to Switzerland- it’s a very pretty village and it has one of those lovely covered bridges over the Lutschein river.
Can't help reiterating how great your travel videos are! Sooooo informative and include sooooo much detailed information which is difficult to receive elsewhere! Really love your videos 💕
I stayed 10 days in Wengen in November and hiked everyday before i started my remote work around 3-4pm. My house had a panoramic view of the entire Lauterbreunnen Valley where I almost walked there everyday (30-60 min walk). I enjoyed many breakfasts and did most of my work on the deck savoring the view. I hiked up to Eiger base and hiked to many directions around Wengen. Almost hiked to Grindelwald too but went out of time. I also hiked between Grütschalp, Wengen and Gimmerwald. Not to mention the many valley walks I did. Next time I'll considers staying in Gimmerwald. The entire village was closed when I went there except I got my self-serve beer from the store that ran the honor-system. Thanks for bringing me back my sweet memories.
I visited the first week of April 2019 and used Interlaken as my base. You're right: it's pleasant enough but definitely on the touristy side. Having all the transportation links was a definite plus. I did use my Swiss Pass to go to the Schilthorn on a Friday after about a meter of fresh snow had fallen in the Alps. It was nuts. There were tons of locals wanting to go skiing, so I had to wait over 90 minutes to get on the cable car going up the mountain. It was worth the wait. I'm not sure if you ever spent any time on the south side of the Alps. I spent two nights in Fiesch and went up to Bettmeralp to view the massive Altesch Glacier and the other side of the Jungfrau. It was stunning. Great video with tons of useful information.
I love your guides and your personality on YT. Thanks to you I started planning my first Swiss Alps adventure with my wife to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Keep the great work!
I recently visited this area. I wished I had seen this video before my visit. It is full of useful facts nicely presented and is a treat to watch. I have saved it for reference as I plan to visit again. Thank you very much and I am a happy subscriber now!
This video has been EXTREMELY helpful,to me me as we are planning a trip to Switzerland. Thank you so much for sharing all these helpful details to us !!
Hello Jana and Brett, I am a Cambodian, I've watched some of your videos, and I really appreciate your job. You explained all the details about the Eurail pass and where to stay which are very helpful. Thank so much!
We stayed in Wengen last July and really loved it. Being up a bit into the mountains really made the extra travel time worth it to us! Thanks for the great videos that bring back wonderful memories! ❤
I spent a magical week in Wengen 20 years ago - it was August and we had perfect weather with sunshine and clear blue skies. I’ve never really dreamt about a place I’ve visited but I’ve had many vivid dreams of taking my dad/sister/husband to Wengen. It’s the most beautiful place with breathtaking views but … the second time I went it was totally different… same time of year but different weather!! We were in the clouds most of the time and never got to see the mountains. My plan is that when I retire, I’ll keep an eye on the forecast and if I see a week of sun - I’m off 😊
Thank you so much for such an informative video. We have bought the 1 week guide and found it super useful to our plan. I hope you guy creat more guide so we can keep supporting you. Keep up the good work
Thanks for the recommendations. We'd have never considered wilderswill if not for this video and our stay there was perfect, both due to proximity to the mountain and the views of the Alps.
Your Videos seems to me the best and most informatives I've seen. As I'm born and raised in the Bernese Oberland, I know the region very well. I can only recommend your videos and because I'm curios what your next videos will be, subbed. Thanks very much for your work, love it
Wow, thank you so much! As a local, your compliment means A LOT to us! We love the Berner Oberland (and now live here), so we hope that our passion shows in all of our work. We're happy to have you following along!
WOW!!! This is the most extensive and best guide to this area on TH-cam. I've been to Switzerland many times--this is my favorite area and your travel style is almost identical to mine (thus I totally agree with your rankings :) :) :) ). What an invaluable aid to the first time guest or even to those who've been there but now want to branch out. Thanks for this resource. (And you've picked up on German pronunciation, sehr gut!)
Laura, you have continually been so kind to us. Thank you for you encouraging comments! That’s a big compliment - that this is the most extensive and best guide to the area on TH-cam 🤩 Also, sounds like you have good taste if you rank things similar 😊😉
I've been researching for our first trip to Switzerland for months, and just found your videos. They are by far the most helpful! We will be using your links for our train tickets and guides. We have four children about your age, who love the outdoors. We're hoping for a ten day family vacation of a lifetime, desiring the ultimate, authentic Swiss experience (in views, experiences, and dining). We have rented a beautiful home in Murren for 9 nights (the minimum stay). I am thinking that we may want a little more "action" in the experience and dining areas on our last two nights? Would you suggest Zermatt over Grindelwald, staying outside of town in either, as you suggested?
Hi Stephanie, thanks so much for your encouragement! You might really enjoy seeing Zermatt as a compliment to what you already have planned. There is great hiking there, but also some of the best food we've had in Switzerland. However, keep in mind this is about 3 hours from Mürren, while Grindelwald is only about 45 minutes - 1 hour away. There are definitely more off-the-beaten-path places to stay near Grindelwald that are really beautiful. Either way, you can't go wrong, and you can easily eat in Grindelwald and Interlaken while you're staying in Mürren because the Schilthorn cable car runs until late. Hope this helps!
Thanks for doing this video, this is really helpful for my next year trip to switzerland. I was hesitating where to stay in the jungfrau area until I found this video. You have done excellent works. Love your videos
This video was useful in our planning, we were hoping to stay in Grindelwald but couldn’t find a place available for our dates, so we opted for Mürren. It’s certainly a convenient town, plenty to do, however I couldn’t help but notice a certain nationality goes very hard on this town, more so than any other place we visited. I love my countrymen but sometimes you just want to feel like you’re, you know, traveling. Due to that “theme park” kind of vibe, plus the added travel time it adds to some hikes we wanted to do closer to Interlaken, I would not stay in Murren again. Certainly worth a visit.
This video was super helpful for our trip planning. Based on your recommendations and my own research, we ended up staying three nights in Grindelwald, and absolutely loved it. The views were fantastic and the city was bustling and convenient. Also, over half the activities and excursions we did on our trip all embark from Grindelwald (Pfingstegg, First, Jungfraujoch, Mannlichen, Glacier Canyon, plus the great playground in the middle of town), so it’s most convenient if you plan on doing fun, kid-friendly activities each day.
This is a great video! I’m just starting to plan for an April 2025 visit and will watch some of your other videos. Have you been in the area in April before? I’m a little concerned about the weather being too cold and/or rainy
We have! We actually live near Interlaken. You never truly can predict the weather but it is usually still cold in April and last April we had a lot of rain. We made a video about what you can expect (month to month) when planning your trip to Switzerland. It might be helpful to you! th-cam.com/video/1qzwAKWh2n0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xg6RXZ18cSrfsP-9
This is such a great informative video! I have been to Switzerland in May 2018, and will be heading back this year, so searching updated vids post-C19. This came across my feed. Glad I watched it; may have to switch from Lucerne to Interlaken... :)
Hi, thanks for sharing. Love your videos! I'm flying into zurich on 19 Dec. I was told the city will be boring during christmas period. May I ask if these places you recommended are good alternatives?
You are SO welcome Rebecca! It’s a joy to help people like you visit Switzerland! Our first trip to Switzerland changed our life and we hope it impacts yours for the good too!
Your information is excellent. Please do not take any notice of the negative comments. I visit Wilderswil 5 times a year for 3 or 4 weeks at at time………….Next time you are in Wilderswil I’ll buy you a drink at the Alpenrose Hotel.
Yes, the views are fantastic both from the Niederhorn and from Beatenberg! But in this video we just to just cover villages from Interlaken and in toward the mountains (we thought about including others along the lakes, but then this video would have been even longer :) ) So glad you enjoyed your visit!
Would you share the Airbnb link where you stayed in Wilderswil? I am planning a family trip in end of May to June 2023. Thank you for your helpful videos! Jana, you remind of Kara from Kara and Nate. Great job guys! May God continue to keep you both safe on your travels.
We'd love to but unfortunately that's a long-term rental and we'll actually be renting it when you plan to visit! But please stop and say hello if you see us when you're in Wilderswil!
If you want something quieter and less touristy but still close, I highly reccomend Darligen. Less than 10m bus ride to Interlakken and very easy access to Lake Thun.
Thank you So much for all that info! I will be filing this video away for future ref, deciding where to stay is a huge factor in Switzerland more than other places? Maybe because one can make expensive mistakes there
You’re right Marla, lodging can be an expensive and inconvenient mistake when you’re planning a trip to this Jungfrau region! Hope this helps when you start planning your next trip 😊
Are the grocery stores Co-Op or a different company? I thought I learned the stores are part of the same company as in located in Scotland, but I am starting to doubt my memory.
Been watching your videos and appreciate all the work you have both put into your guides of Switzerland. My wife and I will be visiting in October and will be planning on 2 days in Zurich, 2 days in Lucerne, 2 days in Grindlewald, and 2 days in Lauterbrunnen. In your opinion is it best to have a centrally located home base or can we successfully stay in multiple locations throughout the week without much grief? Appreciate any opinions you have!
Great question Dylan! We would probably get tired of moving lodging every two nights, but that's really just a personal choice. One option is to spend 4 nights in either Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen - it's really easy to explore the entire Jungfrau Region from either location!
Just a thought to help you … Make it easier to take in all the good info you provide. Think about pace …you have way too much info abt Interlaken, way too fast to take in … and with music that is far too distracting. Your voices are animated enough ( actually a bit too much) and would come across better with less jazzy music. We appreciate your work!
Can you please share the PDF of the map that you have used at 3:48 seconds in the video and the source of it please? I am planning to travel there and need this map for my convenience.
This map is everywhere in the jungfrau region. If you google jungfrau, you will find the main website and I think it’s on there. Or if you just google jungfrau maps, that one will certainly turn up!
Thank you so much! Habkern is a cute little village nestled in a valley, but a bit inconvenient for transportation. (Although it has some beautiful walks from there!!) Make sure you plan around that before you go. Enjoy!!
No, unfortunately the Interlaken Guest Card only provides free buses within Interlaken and Wilderswil. But the Grindelwald Guest card provides free buses in Grindelwald!
Hi there! This video is VERY helpful, thank you!!! My boyfriend and I are going in July 2023. Do you think it is possible to do the following? We plan to stay in one location (home base is either Interlaken or Grindelwald) for the whole week and travel to different towns each day (please let me know if there is a smarter way to do this). July 14th land In Zurich and take train to Interlaken. Check into hotel/airbnb, Explore town take it easy. July 15-Full day interlaken explore, nice dinner for anniversary July 16-Chill day, watch paragliders and picnic/hammock July 17th -Grindelwald first and hike July 18th -Chill day and explore rest of Grindelwald July 19th -Lautenbrunner explore on bikes July 20th-Brienz boat tour or Brienz rothorn bahn train (MUST do) July 22nd- Travel back home
Sounds like a fun trip and do-able! In fact, there’s a lot of extra time to do even more if you’d like! 🙂We’re actually publishing a 1-week Guide in March that covers a lot of those activities, so stay tuned! (You can join our email list to get first dibs!)
I stayed in Murren this past September and coming back for 6 days in June with my wife. Using the half-fare card would be cheaper overall coming from the US and landing in Zurich, but my concern is that buying ticket on each trip would be cumbersome. BOP would be the next cheaper option at 100 CHF per person. Should I be too concerned with having to buy tickets and miss the next train ride? Using STP was so convenient the last time. BTW Murrren was incredible. I stayed on the main road with valley view and seeing Eiger and the whole mountain range from my balcony everyday was incredible.
Great question! We think that buying tickets using the SBB mobile app is extremely easy and convenient-but you'll need to have cell phone data for this. Otherwise, if you don't want to buy tickets, the BOP + Half Fare Card is a great combo, and you won't have to buy hardly any tickets in the Jungfrau Region!
I love your videos and I am hoping to be able to book a consultation, but so far the only openings you have are during times that I work. I am planning on spending about 3 weeks in Switzerland next summer. Would you recommend 2 weeks in Wilderswil and 1 week in Murren or spending a week in each of the following towns Wilderswill, Murren and Grindelwald?
We love that you're planning to stay here for so long! With that amount of time, it could be a ton of fun to spend a week in each place. You'd have such a variety of experiences, and then you could really take your time to explore what's right around each of those locations. Sounds like a great plan!
Loved this video. Will there still be any water flowing from the waterfalls in September? After seeing this video, really considering Grindelwald. Do you remember the street name of the place you stayed at? Enjoying all your videos as we plan for Rome and Switzerland. Thanks in advance for your response back.
Hi!! It truly depends on how wet/dry the summer is for waterfalls in September. Giessbach and Trümmelbach are always flowing, but some of the other ones in Lauterbrunnen have less water by September. And we stayed near the church in Grindelwald - an amazing part of town in our opinion!!
I've seen all you videos about train pass ... Still confused LOL. Because this is my frist time to swiss. Still cant decised thou From Netherland to Zurich, and to iselwald I booked airBnB in iselwald 3 nights and 2nights in Hasliberg I want to visit Grindelwald first and jungfraujoch Please what should i do Thanks
Hi there! Since you're staying in Iseltwald and Hasliberg, you'll definitely want the Berner Oberland Pass, and the Half Fare Card will likely make sense for you too!
Another great video!! It confirmed our choice to stay at Hotel Gletschergarten, Grindelwald in January. Our only concern is getting to Schilthorn. Your videos helped us plan our vacation and we cannot wait for it to come to fruition. Thank You & Aloha from Maui!!
We’re so happy to make you feel more confident about your travel plans in January!! If you haven’t already, we have a free spreadsheet download on our “when to visit month-by-month” video that details which trains will be open in the month of January!
Your videos are very informative and useful as always. I have planned my itinerary in the past based on your tips and have recommended these to my friends too. This video is another gem in the series of useful videos you guys have created for tourists. Thank you for doing this. I had one question for you folks about a nearby village to Interlaken that I didn't see in your list. I am talking about Wimmis, that's South of Speiz. Would you recommend this for a short stay and where will it rank? Thanks!!
Thanks so much for your encouragement and for sharing with your friends! Wimmis would be a good short-term hub for visit spots like the Stockhorn, Niesen, Thun, etc. But it would be pretty inconvenient for concentrating on the Jungfrau Region. Spiez would be a better choice if you're looking to save money, and it will put you a little closer to the region while cutting down on a train change.
Hi. I’m from Brazil. Do you think is a good option going from Milan. And hop off on domodossola and take a Swiss train with half fare card or is a better option go straight from Milan to grindelwald? Straight train pass is 54 CHF. Thank you. I’m watching all your videos in the past 3 days
Hi Felipe! You can contact SBB on their website (sbb.ch/en) and they can help you book a single ticket fro Milan to Grindelwald, using your Half Fare Card discount!
Hello, firstly thank you so much for such informative videos. I'm a new member of your channel and already loving the videos. 😊 2nd please, please, I have a huge favor to ask, I would like to know if someone is traveling to Switzerland only for two nights and don't want to stay in zurich where should they stay? I'll be traveling to Switzerland for the first time on November 28th, but only for two days. I was planning to do half a day in zurich and Lucerne, then in the evening, reaching to grindelwald and the next day spend the whole day there, afterward next morning return back to zurich to catch my flight. But I just found out everything in Grindelwald first will be closed for the days that I'm traveling, so my whole plan falled apart. I'm so confused at this point about where to stay and what to do on my 2nd day, which is closer to Lucerne and also close to zurich airport to go back. I know it's a lot to ask but please suggest to me a place that will have some mountain activities like gondola, views, activities open during November 29th. And what travel pass will be best. I'm traveling for the first time with my mom to give her a memorable birthday gift, but right now, I feel so lost. Again, I am so sorry to bother you like this. And thank you. TC
Good choice! Great to watch your videos here in Thailand where I live now. I grew up in Spiez, between Interlaken and Thun and I certainly know all these nice places in the video! 🙂....fun fact: while COOP and MIGROS are Swiss shopping malls, ALDI is a German company!...so, a no go for a "real" Swiss! 😂
Thank you guys. Love watching ur videos. Beautiful views of Switzerland. What would you suggest with small kids, staying in a hotel with breakfast included, or entire apartment?
Hello. I love your videos and they are so helpful. I booked 3 night in Interlaken, but found a hotel, in Murren, on the side of a cliff. I want to see Grndelwald, Lauterbrunnen, and some other places, during my stay, but trying to determine if Murren is smarter to stay at verses Interlaken. Any tips, suggestions is appreciated. I'll have a rental car. Thanks so much for any tips/advise.
Hi Shari! Mürren is a beautiful village, but it's car-free. So you'd have to park in Lauterbrunnen or Stechelberg and ride the cable car up. So Interlaken might be a better base for having a car!
Hey great video. Are these places/ the alps In general to cold to stay in late December. I’m looking for a place in Europe to go in late December/ early January
I’ve stayed in 2 out of the 7 - wilderswil and Grindelwald. I love them both. I’d probably stay in them all! The good thing is that it doesn’t really take that long to get anywhere - I want to do a race from Grindelwald to wengen - someone takes the cable cars and someone takes the train 😜 The Grindelwald guest card gives you 50% off admission to the outdoor pool - I don’t think there’s a better view from any water slide!
So funny you say that because Brett really wants to race the train from Wilderswil up to Schynige Platte!! (But just to be clear, the train would totally destroy him :)
@@AplinsintheAlps - ha, he wouldn’t have a chance! But, what if there was a race from the top of Schyinge platte to the Bachalpsee, one person walking and the other taking the train to wilderswil, then Grindelwald, up the First and then walking. Who would win?
Hi! I’m a new subscriber in your channel and I love all of your videos! ♥️♥️♥️ My family is planning to visit Interlaken, Switzerland and my husband usually rents a car whenever we’re on vacation since we have a toddler. So my question is.. is our US mobile data going to work in Switzerland when we use it for “Maps” installed in iPhone for navigation?
Hi Emma! You'll need to add an international data option if you want access to data during your trip. You can do this in one of two easy ways: 1) Ask your U.S. cell carrier what it costs to turn this on while you travel. It's usually approx. $10/day, and you can normally just turn on roaming data to make it work. 2) You can purchase an eSIM card online. We had a great experience last year with a company called Holafly, and their options are quite a bit cheaper than using your U.S. cell carrier. Use this link and our discount code (APLINSINTHEALPS) for 5% off if you're interested: esim.holafly.com/?ref=aplinsinthealps& Finally, you can download maps in google maps and use them offline without any data! However, we'd love to encourage you that the public transport system in this part of Switzerland (and really throughout the whole country) is really, really good. And kids under age 6 are totally free! Unless you just really want to drive, we'd recommend considering doing your trip without a car :)
Hi Guys Thanks so much for This very informative movie! I was wondering, we are planning to go to Switzerland end of April. I am also considering Zermatt, next to the options you mention in your movie. Do you have some video on Zermatt? And is it wise to visit mountain villages at the end of April, beginning of may? Hope You can help!
No videos on Zermatt yet, unfortunately! April/May can be a great time to visit, but it can also be in between the Winter and Summer seasons, so sometimes the cable cars are under maintenance and hotels/restaurants take a holiday. Be sure to confirm the opening dates for any places that are must-see for you!
We are staying in Grindelwald for 7 nights with the thought that we would use it as a home-base to explore the area, as well as Lauterbrunnen, Gimmelwald, and muren. We did buy a full 1st class Swiss pass for our entire trip. I'm worried that we are going to be inconvenienced by its location. What do you think?
I live in in Switzerland and I must say I love this video. Very informative to all visitors. 🙏 I was wondering about something though: You said you stayed about 6 months here. Was that all work related as well or just exploring Switzerland in its entirety?
Wow that's a big compliment, thank you! We both work online, so we spent an extended summer in Europe and worked while we were there. We also have dual Italian citizenship so we are able to spend longer in Europe. It's quite a blessing!
Can anyone advise we are wanting to go end of aug or start Switzerland we are coming from Dublin so flying to Zurich as think it’s nearest alps . Really can’t decide where to stay and base ourselves . Want some restaurants and shops but overall I want the hikes and views .
Really any of these villages could make a great home base. It all comes down to personal preference and your specific travel plans. Hopefully this video helps you decide!
Great question! We think Bönigen is great, but didn't include it on this list because it's not connected by train (only a bus). There were quiet a few smaller places like Bönigen that we considered including, but the video was already too long! :)
If you want to stay in a absolutely non-touristic area, you should go to GLARUS - A valley like the Lauterbrunnental formed by glaciers, only 1h train ride from Zurich. Gorgeous hikes and mountain lakes, pretty villages like Ennenda and the car-free Braunwald, plenty of gondolas and very cheap prices for accommodation. Avoid the tourstic places like Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen, etc. and go to the real Swiss cities where people actually live! :)
Ooh we love Glarus!! Took a road trip there, drove the Klausen Pass, visited Klöntalersee and the Berglistüber waterfall, and hiked up at Braunwald. It was incredible! Hope we can get there to film a video at some point.
Great video! Great info ... I will be visiting swiss in first week of oct but im not sure whether i will get waterfalls dried or watery! Also basic question, how yo carry our luggage while we travel in swiss.? Does cable cars allow us to carry the luggage with us ? Thanks in advance ❤
Hi there 😊I am really enjoying watching your videos and they’re really very informative. Jana me and hubby planning to spend Swiss this May for our anniversary, how’s the weather there like last week of May and early June? How fun! We have a whole video about the month by month weather which you can find here: aplinsinthealps.com/best-time-to-visit-switzerland-a-month-by-month-guide/ And in our opinion, it's always more affordable to book on your own instead of using a travel agent, so great job!!

Can't help reiterating how great your travel videos are! Sooooo informative and include sooooo much detailed information which is difficult to receive elsewhere! Really love your videos 💕
Aww thank you so much! We’re grateful to share and help you plan your trip, because you’re right - there are a lot of details to consider! ❤️
Thanks for bringing me back my sweet memories.
where did you stay in wengen?
He's talking a house, so maybe Airbnb@@Tenacioustarantula
How many days do you think to hike and visit the sites?
I love your guides and your personality on YT. Thanks to you I started planning my first Swiss Alps adventure with my wife to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Keep the great work!
Thanks so much for your kind words and support! We hope you and your wife have a wonderful time here and Happy (early) Anniversary!
I recently visited this area. I wished I had seen this video before my visit. It is full of useful facts nicely presented and is a treat to watch. I have saved it for reference as I plan to visit again.
Thank you very much and I am a happy subscriber now!
So glad you found us! We hope you can visit again soon.
This video has been EXTREMELY helpful,to me me as we are planning a trip to Switzerland. Thank you so much for sharing all these helpful details to us !!
We LOVE hearing that our videos are helping others! Thanks so much for sharing. Happy Trip Planning:)
Hello Jana and Brett, I am a Cambodian, I've watched some of your videos, and I really appreciate your job. You explained all the details about the Eurail pass and where to stay which are very helpful. Thank so much!
We're so glad our videos have been helpful! Thanks for taking the time to let us know.
This is THE BEST Swiss travel video I’ve come across. Thank you!
Wow, thank you! Grateful for the encouragement:)
Thank you so much for making this kind of video , because its really help me a lot to explore the nature with so deep , again thanks .
Amazing information! thank you very much for this great service.
You're welcome! So glad we could help you!
As a resident of Switzerland, I fully agree with your assessment
That's a HUGE compliment! Thank you!
This channel is by far the best channel on travelling Switzerland ! Keep it up
Wow thank you so much! 😊
We stayed in Wengen last July and really loved it. Being up a bit into the mountains really made the extra travel time worth it to us! Thanks for the great videos that bring back wonderful memories! ❤
That is a great reason to stay in Wengen, to be right in the mountains! Thanks for sharing your experience :)
My plan is that when I retire, I’ll keep an eye on the forecast and if I see a week of sun - I’m off 😊
That sounds like an ideal plan - jet set to the Swiss Alps during retirement 😎
Thank you a million beautiful video loaded with information ❤❤❤
You're so welcome, we're happy to help!
Thank you so much for such an informative video. We have bought the 1 week guide and found it super useful to our plan. I hope you guy creat more guide so we can keep supporting you. Keep up the good work
Thanks for the encouragement! We're so glad to hear that our guide was useful. We're definitely going to keep on creating😊
We went to all these places on our trip June of last year. Wengen is the winner for me. The views were just breathtaking…as well as the hike
Tnx4sharing places to stay in Swiss Alps. Well narrated and easy to understand. Keep up the good work ✈️
Thanks for the encouragement! It's good to hear that the information was easy to understand!
Thanks for the recommendations. We'd have never considered wilderswill if not for this video and our stay there was perfect, both due to proximity to the mountain and the views of the Alps.
We're so glad to hear that you enjoyed Wilderswil! It's such a charming town in a great location.
You guys have done it again! Everything I needed to know!! Thanks heaps guys..
Aww we are so happy to help!!
I’m set to visit to Switzerland in Sep this year. Your insight has been invaluable.
Next year will be my first trip to Interlaken region with a friend and your video's have been so helpfull! Can't wait to explore!
So glad we can help Jeanie!
We are thrilled that we were able to help you figure out where you wanted to stay! Thanks so much for your encouragement:)
Thanks for sharing your experience Oliver!
I really needed this video. Thank you. 🙏🏼
You did a fantastic job. Kudos.
So glad it was helpful! Thanks for letting us know.
So glad you enjoyed your choice and had a great trip!!

I'm planning to visit . For first timer this is very helpful!
So glad to hear!
Thanks!
You are so generous, thank you so much for helping us make more Swiss content! We are truly grateful :)
You guys amazing. This is very thorough and informative. Thank you so much. I am going to watch the rest of the videos as well now.
Thank you for your compliments! We're so encouraged to help you plan your trip Switzerland!
This is such a great informative video! I have been to Switzerland in May 2018, and will be heading back this year, so searching updated vids post-C19. This came across my feed. Glad I watched it; may have to switch from Lucerne to Interlaken... :)
Fantastic video filled with all the information you could need to help you determine where to stay. Thanks so much😊
Fantastic video! Thank you for all your work!
Thanks for the encouragement! We LOVE what we do and are grateful for kind supporters like you!
Hi, thanks for sharing. Love your videos! I'm flying into zurich on 19 Dec. I was told the city will be boring during christmas period. May I ask if these places you recommended are good alternatives?
Hi there! Actually, cities like Zurich will be so fun during this time because of the Christmas markets!!
Amazing work folks, this was enjoyable and so nicely put together!
Thank you so much! We enjoy sharing helpful tips so travelers like you can enjoy your time in Switzerland!
I just love your videos. Charming, informative, and exactly what I need to understand and plan a trip to Switzerland. THANK YOU for doing these vlogs!
Thanks Guys. Another great video, keep 'em coming!
Thanks Alan! Grateful for your comment and encouragement 😊
I am very suprised you dont mentioned Beatenberg. Were you not on the Niederhorn? The view of the sea of thun is stunning
Yes, the views are fantastic both from the Niederhorn and from Beatenberg! But in this video we just to just cover villages from Interlaken and in toward the mountains (we thought about including others along the lakes, but then this video would have been even longer :) )
So glad you enjoyed your visit!
This is the most helpful video in the entire TH-cam land!
Well that’s a huge compliment!! Thank you 🤩
Would you share the Airbnb link where you stayed in Wilderswil? I am planning a family trip in end of May to June 2023. Thank you for your helpful videos! Jana, you remind of Kara from Kara and Nate. Great job guys! May God continue to keep you both safe on your travels.
We'd love to but unfortunately that's a long-term rental and we'll actually be renting it when you plan to visit! But please stop and say hello if you see us when you're in Wilderswil!
@@AplinsintheAlps most definitely!
Fantastic quantity and quality of information! Thank you!
Wow! Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it and that the information was helpful.
Just subscribed, love the content. Looking at going in June so this is very helpful. 👍
We’re so happy to have you follow along! We hope all of our resources help you plan your trip with confidence and enjoy it to the max!
Are the grocery stores Co-Op or a different company? I thought I learned the stores are part of the same company as in located in Scotland, but I am starting to doubt my memory.
Best guide and tips on TH-cam ❤
Wow that’s a big compliment! Thank you so much! 😊
Thanks for the feedback! We've dialed down the background music over the past two years since making this video :)
I love your videos! We are going to the Berner Oberland in July and will be staying in Habkern!
Thank you so much! Habkern is a cute little village nestled in a valley, but a bit inconvenient for transportation. (Although it has some beautiful walks from there!!) Make sure you plan around that before you go. Enjoy!!
@@AplinsintheAlps Thank you! We will drive to Interlaken en take public transportation from there.
The interlaken gust card includes free buses to grindelwald as well? Thank you guys
No, unfortunately the Interlaken Guest Card only provides free buses within Interlaken and Wilderswil. But the Grindelwald Guest card provides free buses in Grindelwald!
you're really a nice pair, Im glad you're having the chance to visit the places you wished
I hope you wll be able to visit the whole Continent and enjoy it
Great stuff!
July 15-Full day interlaken explore, nice dinner for anniversary
July 16-Chill day, watch paragliders and picnic/hammock
July 17th -Grindelwald first and hike
July 18th -Chill day and explore rest of Grindelwald
July 19th -Lautenbrunner explore on bikes
July 20th-Brienz boat tour or Brienz rothorn bahn train (MUST do)
July 22nd- Travel back home
Sounds like a fun trip and do-able! In fact, there’s a lot of extra time to do even more if you’d like! 🙂We’re actually publishing a 1-week Guide in March that covers a lot of those activities, so stay tuned! (You can join our email list to get first dibs!)
@@AplinsintheAlps ahhh thanks for the quick reply! Already joined your email list, can't wait to read the guide. :)
Thank you for information absolutely love your video.
You are welcome! Thanks for taking the time to let us know:)
Amazing 👍🏻
Where are you guys going this summer in Switzerland?
Thanks so much! We will be back in this same area again, although plan to take more trips to other regions as well!
This is an excelent video
I've seen all you videos about train pass ...
Still confused LOL. Because this is my frist time to swiss. Still cant decised thou
From Netherland to Zurich, and to iselwald
I booked airBnB in iselwald 3 nights and 2nights in Hasliberg
I want to visit Grindelwald first and jungfraujoch
Please what should i do
Thanks
Hi there! Since you're staying in Iseltwald and Hasliberg, you'll definitely want the Berner Oberland Pass, and the Half Fare Card will likely make sense for you too!
excellent video with full of insights !! But how can i look for airbnb in Wilderswil ? on app it’s not showing all options
Airbnb is the best way! Summer season books up quickly so if you’re looking for summer, that might be why you don’t see much available.
I will be in Switzerland for 12 nights in early June 2023, 5 nights will be in Interlaken, 1 night in Lauterbrunnen. Thx for the info. 👍🏼
Sounds like a great trip! Glad to help you decide where to stay during your travels 😊
Amazing video such informative
So glad you liked it and that is was helpful!
Do you sell a guide for trains and gondolas and for what to do in the Interlaken area as far as Zurmatt?
I m watching your videos after coming back from Switzerland and I absolutely love your videos
Aww thank you! We’re so glad that our videos give you sweet memories of your trip! 😊
Hello, firstly thank you so much for such informative videos. I'm a new member of your channel and already loving the videos. 😊
2nd please, please, I have a huge favor to ask, I would like to know if someone is traveling to Switzerland only for two nights and don't want to stay in zurich where should they stay? TC
Loved interlaken….fell in love with the area!
It's easy to love this area, right?!? 😊
Thank you Saba! That depends on your travel preferences, but we personally prefer Airbnbs so we have more space and a kitchen. Hope that helps!!
Very helpful guys! Thanks
We’re so happy to help 😊 Thanks!
Hey great video. Are these places/ the alps In general to cold to stay in late December. I’m looking for a place in Europe to go in late December/ early January
I’ve stayed in 2 out of the 7 - wilderswil and Grindelwald. I love them both. I’d probably stay in them all!
The good thing is that it doesn’t really take that long to get anywhere - I want to do a race from Grindelwald to wengen - someone takes the cable cars and someone takes the train 😜
The Grindelwald guest card gives you 50% off admission to the outdoor pool - I don’t think there’s a better view from any water slide!
We like the way you're thinking!!
You can do this in one of two easy ways:
1) Ask your U.S. cell carrier what it costs to turn this on while you travel. It's usually approx. $10/day, and you can normally just turn on roaming data to make it work.
2) You can purchase an eSIM card online. We had a great experience last year with a company called Holafly, and their options are quite a bit cheaper than using your U.S. cell carrier. Use this link and our discount code (APLINSINTHEALPS) for 5% off if you're interested: esim.holafly.com/?ref=aplinsinthealps&
Finally, you can download maps in google maps and use them offline without any data!
However, we'd love to encourage you that the public transport system in this part of Switzerland (and really throughout the whole country) is really, really good. And kids under age 6 are totally free! Unless you just really want to drive, we'd recommend considering doing your trip without a car :)
@@AplinsintheAlps Thank you so much for this information! Greatly appreciated! 🥰♥️
Hope
You can help!
@@AplinsintheAlps Thanks so much for your response!! 🙏
That'll work totally fine! Having one home base is really convenient, and Grindelwald should work well for you!
@@AplinsintheAlps thank you for your help!
I live in in Switzerland and I must say I love this video. Very informative to all visitors. 🙏
I was wondering about something though: You said you stayed about 6 months here.
Any particular reason you didn’t consider Bönigen in the list? Fairly close to the conveniences of Interlaken but on the lake with the village feel.
Great question! We think Bönigen is great, but didn't include it on this list because it's not connected by train (only a bus). There were quiet a few smaller places like Bönigen that we considered including, but the video was already too long! :)
Very great relaxing video. You both did a great job
Thank you Justin! We’re glad you can experience our joy through the video 😊
Wow this video is excellent! Thanks
Fantastic! We are so happy to help!
This channel give me motivation to work hard and visit Switzerland the beauty
We are so grateful to encourage you! And we hope you get to visit one day :)
Hopefully you will get to see waterfalls! It just depends on how much rain there is. And yes, you can take your suitcases on trains and cable cars.
Hi there 😊I am really enjoying watching your videos and they’re really very informative. Jana me and hubby planning to spend Swiss this May for our anniversary, how’s the weather there like last week of May and early June? And do you think it’s cheaper to have us booked ourselves instead booking with travel agents?
How fun! We have a whole video about the month by month weather which you can find here: aplinsinthealps.com/best-time-to-visit-switzerland-a-month-by-month-guide/
And in our opinion, it's always more affordable to book on your own instead of using a travel agent, so great job!!
