The street gang were definitely a nod to the 60’s British “Mods” sub-culture, complete with the customized Vespa-like speeders. Cybernetic modifications- “mods”. The leader’s speeder with the multiple side mirrors looked right off the cover of Quadrophenia.

Yeah.....not sure about the Alita: Battle Angel scooter gang on rides that look straight out of Quadraphenia. A tad silly, considering Rodriguez was involved in Alita.

The Mos Espa Vespa's were so slow in the chase. It was like watching a bunch of OAPs on scooters trying to catch a Prius.

The Pykes were in Clone Wars, notably seasons 5-7 (Ahsoka’s arc) as well as on Kessel in Solo.
The speeders were too…shiny and colorful visually to fit into Tatooine, but in my head these are kids that undoubtedly stole them and repainted them to be hip, and they’re hanging out in a seedy area for ….cred

Agree about the Vespa gang. Out of place. Nothing is that shiny on a sand planet. And the kids riding them didn’t fit the Star Wars aesthetic at all. Ah well…

I love these Star Wars shows. Its like the producers sat down with their toys and are playing. I had a rancor toy, I had a boba fett toy. I had Boba ride the rancor all the time when I was little. OMG!!!!! Boba is going to ride a rancor.
I don't get it...how you people can watch this show...or hawkeye...or even loki and not just be barfing. There's all the drama of a piss-flavored popsicle. This Mayor's assistant chase scene makes me think of the "Back To The Future" skateboard chase scene
I've got to have a model of one of those bikes when available! I wondered why Boba didn't just fly after the guy and stop him immediately but it makes sense when you think about it. He's the boss and bosses gotta delegate sometimes. Also, it gave Boba the chance to see what the biker kids are capable of and you better believe he was in the air following them to see how they handled it. His landing right after the crash backs this up

When I saw that scene for the second time I realized it is humor. Jeremy Clarkson was taking a bad V12 Aston Martin to a speed skating track here in Norway and never managed to do more than 10 miles an hour - making the car look like an ice-dancer spiralling in slow motion. And of course - try to imagine NY police trying to go around a street corner in a hovercraft - FRICTION is super-important for cornering speeds. Just ask jet pilots - they do not pull 9g at 50,000 feet (too little air - aka friction).
I agree with you though - Star Wars should never try to make jokes about physics (or lack thereof). Star wars has one mission - make the thing so awesome to watch that my brain stops thinking "that breaks reality" (and I am scientist in geophysics).
So episode 1 had a 2 person walk, episode 2 had a 4 person walk, episode 3 had Boba and the Zoomers. The last episode is gonna have Boba and a huge crew and I can't wait!
On a happier note for the Tusken Raiders the one who trained Boba wasn’t shown to be dead and I think if they were dead they would have shown their body since they were a main character in those scenes

1. Speeder Vespas is exactly what I thought to call them. 2. Jay’s Jabba impression with the tongue was so spot on I had a flashback.
The speeder chase was weird, I don’t like their design or colors but I think the problem was it looked like they were going too slow and the background was going too fast or Vice versa. It definitely had a weird look

I mean it's a crowded urban area with lots of sharp corners and like, pedestrians, it makes sense that they're not going super fast. Fair point about the bikes though, they liked like candy, way to shiny, like even if they were just matte I'd be happier.
The whole show unfortunately doesn’t work for me. Boba doing everything just and right makes zero sense half the time, and he was a villain!
When he joined Mando I could get on board with his justification, then you see him kill someone cold blooded to take a throne, oh shit this is going to be different. Now every choice he makes is just not well thought out or track with someone as ruthless as we were shown when the preview kicked off.

"Rancors are loving and emotionally complex and prone to depression" is my favorite piece of new canon so far in this show. Distinct mood there.
The high speed chase was like the family Buick station wagon vs a Vespa scooter gang.
I loved every second of it!
P.S. for another great show with the mayor's aide as a star, is Lodge 49. I promise you'll love it!
See, I agree with your characterization of the chase, and that's why I hated it! It was too clearly a send up / homage to 70's cop dramas, and was hokey and childish. And that's fine, if that's what you're going for, but after the last episode managed to inculcate me into the Tuskan Raider lifestyle, and really make me feel for these "faceless" characters as a people, I hated that they were basically fridged at the start of the episode and then it turned silly. I'm hoping for more of episodes 1 and 2, and less of 3.
Which do I want more? A Tauntaun? Or a Rancor? Decisions, decisions...

You can see the green screen of the speeder bikes when they come to a stop, it is in reality a rectangle around the edge of the bike and it makes an impression in the dust.
I really do think the Tusken warrior is still alive. She has such a distinctive appearance you'd think they'd show her body if she were dead, like they did for the chieftain. To say nothing of the fact she's played by a pretty top-teir stunt actress, so if she were to die, you'd think they'd have it happen on-screen.
We never saw the lady tusken warrior's body. She could still be out there.
I'm hoping for that too...though Boba did burn her gaffi stick. But if Maul can come back with half a body...
I give the speeders the benefit of the doubt. All the speeders we've seen in the past have been Imperial; these were built from spare parts by street kids on a backwater planet.
Honestly. I'm glad someone in the SW universe takes care of their stuff.

The bikes are meant for cruising around town and riding to the club. Probably not suitable for the wasteland.
I'm still hoping this rumor is true. The mention of how empty Boba's palace is gives me hope.
30 Mandalorians, a Wookie, a Rancor, the gathered might of the Tribes sounds pretty good for a final battle.
The Mandalorians need ships-those Correllian Pike ships look pretty fine.
The Mandalorians need a home base to plan their assault of Mandalore-they can help Boba take back the spaceport and former Jabba terrtory.
Boba needs more muscle-the Mandalorians would surely made a deal in which they get free target practice, a city that welcomes them with open arms, a Home even. Hell, maybe he canHe'll, someone to find Bill Burr and hire him.
i thought the same about the cyber mob squad bikes. I think the reason why they didnt feel like it fit was because they looked tooo new/different from all the other speeder bikes we've seen in the previous movies/shows.
Yeah, street kids with no one, too poor to buy water...but somehow have bikes literally no one else we've seen have, cleaner than anything on the planet we've seen. Even most of their clothes stood out.
That was my issue too. Felt too Spy Kids with the bright shiny colours. This is after Return of the Jedi. Everything is supposed to be dirty, dusted and barely held together. If this were set during the prequels, those vespa looking bikes would have fit right in.
What I don't get is they looked at Fett's armor from The Mandalorian (after he gave it a new paint job) and had the smarts to make it scuffed and a little dirty again....yet they green lit the mighty riding vespa rangers 🤨
Hopefully going forward we get less of those bikes cause they REALLY don't feel like Star Wars to me, and stand out like a Roman candle.
Oh well, at least we got Danny Trejo in cannon, and the promise of Fett riding a Rancor in the future

I'm so glad you guys understand that shows need setup episodes, far too many people complained about this episode because it wasn't full of action.
What exactly are you people so sure that the brilliant writers of this show are setting up? Boba to learn to ride a Rancor? A war between the teen wolf Tik Tok gang and the Pykes? Are these really storylines that you're dying for them to continue to set up? We're 3 episodes into a 7 episode series it's beyond setting things up, this show is garbage

@@megasauruss Just because they're "setting something up" doesn't mean that it has to be trash until we get to the point that they're "setting up." Game of Thrones was 90% buildup every season but every episode had great dialogue, storylines, etc.. These Star Wars shows are just money grabs for Disney that the writers put 0 effort into.
This episode rocked. First, I was like.. "it's Office Space!", then I was like.. "look at those cool hipster Vespa speeders", then I was like.. "WHOA, Black Chrysanthemum attack!", then I was like.. "a rancor!", and then I was like.. "DANNY F**KING TREJO!!"
I didn't grow up with Star Wars, but these new series are lighting a new flame in my heart. This episode was especially awesome!

This episode was a real emotional rollercoaster. They killed all those awesome Tusken Raiders they'd carefully built up over the last couple of episodes knowing full well what was going to happen. That was a real twist of the knife. Then we got our rancor which was exciting and heartwarming which I did not expect. How they pulled that off is filmmaker trickery. Now it looks like we're going to war. Good thing Boba is building himself quite the posse. It's going to be NUTS!

it makes sense that the chase was slow considering they are going through the streets of a populated city and if they go super fast then they'll immediately crash

Danny Trejo though, anyone else a little nervous during that scene, could've easily have gone the other way and had the Rancor see Boba as a snack...
One does have to wonder if there isn't a plot here. He could be setting everything up for the Hutts. Also, by the look of the Rancor's eye when it glanced back, could it be sentient?

I had that Slave-1 Toy as a kid!
It has this handle with a trigger on the back that controlled the wings and it had it's own spring loaded blaster launcher!
I didn’t appreciate the Mods as much as you did, until I had a realization that the Mods are a sci-fi version of a fictional 50’s Greaser gang. That’s why their bikes are so different, why they have droid parts it’s less about deadliness and more about style. I didn’t really realize until I went back to their fight scene this episode, specifically their weapons. (Switch blade, handgun, chain, crowbar)
Not only should one expect to see Boba Fett riding a rancor on this series, we have a second confirmation of the Star Wars Holiday Special mini story where Boba Fett rides the back of the great "mythosaur". (He's ridden beasts 10 times the size of this rancor.)

The Pikes in the Clone Wars series were so feared. You just had to say their names and everyone packed their things and left, but we never saw them do anything that would have earned them that reputation. I guess we’ll see more of them in this serie
