You guys are adorable.... who would have thought when you weremakingnthis video..... pie making is now a hige sensation!! Thanks for this video my fellow aussies
Thanks Frances, have you seen the facebook group KMart Pie Makers, lots of great ideas on there for other things to make in the pie maker - one of these days I will find time to try some out. facebook.com/groups/1736740153030725/
Hi I used your recipe, and modified it a bit because I couldn't find vegemite in Tokyo. I usually have jars everywhere doh! The pies were amazing! I made 24. 8 meat pies and 16 quiche pies as my pie sheets started to melt in the Japan heat. Thank you for the recipe!
I have a deep pie maker, and wondered whether I could get away with using raw pork to make a pork pie, to save the palaver of that cooking stage. I thought in the pie maker I'd struggle to get it cooked through. So I seasoned the pork mince, wrapped it around a boiled egg, and put that in the pie. It took a bit longer than a regular pie - about 30 minutes. But the result was pretty sensational.
This is a great video, thank you both for sharing it with us! I just ordered on of those pie makers, so will wait till it gets here to make some meat pies, 2009 since I've had a pie, and just of late have been watching video's fo the pie making, this is one on the top of the list, so thank you again, can't wait.
and I notice you cut each template each time with a knife before placing them into the pie maker..is this to help place the pastry circular into the dish part ?
Yes, it evens out the pastry otherwise you'll have a lump, the cut flattens the pastry out, a good tip indeed! Only need to do the slit on the botton pastry...Good luck!
Looks rather sloppy and runny for my liking. Much prefer to brown the mince and cook the onion first before adding other ingredients. Gives it a bit more texture and flavour with the meat you can actually bite into and taste. By adding water to the raw mince tends to break it down too much.
We brown the meat when making spagetti bolognese or curried mince but for pies we don't because we like the meat to be extra soft. It's a recipe I learnt from my mother who learnt it from her mother and it works for us. I used to spend hours rolling pastry for my mother for pies and Dad for the pasties, thank god for pastry sheets now :-)
Wife's perogative :-) but mostly because some of these recipes are mine and hubby is cooking them for the first time while I video tape it. He is much better in front of the camera than I am.
@@pjd2709 actually it makes me laugh how many people are concerned that he wasn't using a wooden spoon. We do have multiple wooden spoons in the drawer but as long as he is cooking I don't care what he uses. Many years ago I had to learn to share the kitchen and now I love it :-)
Nice recipe... So delicious...👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much
Woy Woy represent, much respect🤘!!!

You can use beef stock instead of vegemite, I think we substituted vegemite one day because we were out of beef stock and it worked out well.
I have just made these pies, they are delicious. Thank you

Thank you, if you are putting cloves in just go with 1/4 teaspoon of cloves, the video had a teaspoon which was a bit too much.
Fantastic thanks so much for sharing
I did steak pies in mine they were perfect
I was surprised to hear the town Dubbo mentioned 😂
We spent many years in Orange and hubby was involved in AFL and Western Zone Cricket so there were many trips to Dubbo. Awesome Zoo too.
"ya num nut" lolz
Great video but please use a wooden spoon to mix.
Would you make a chicken pot pie video please?
Wow this is great! And yummy pls how can I get this meatpie maker pls?
We bought ours at KMart in Australia, I would think they would be in most large chain department stores or check Ebay and Amazon.
Aww... I'm in Nigeria so I will check amazon thanks alot.
Nice apron mate
very interesting.
Dave thanks for this - where do you buy those circular pastry cutter please ?
They came with our pie maker
a wooden spoon would have been better than the steel spoon you used for stiring the meat in the pot. just sayin'
Why?
A whisk would be better than both.
I have no teeth left, WOODEN PLEASE.
Rose I was thinking the same thing about the wooden spoon
Do the cutters come with the pie maker? And is the top one bigger than the bottom one?
Yes they did and the bottom one is bigger than the top one to allow for the sides of the pie.
Hi Guys
Is it 1kg of mince ?
Thanks
Yes and if you click on ...more under the video the recipe is there

Well do it your way then, no problem, you can change what ever you like in the recipe!

Yes, I don’t like the pie filling to be too mushy, I like texture.
The machine is beautiful, but the manufactured dou perfection. Is robbery. Scratch. Mmmmmmm. Real ppl.
What does my bad mean please?.
Obviously can't tell between a dessert spoon and table spoon lol.
metal on metal aaagghhhh
cant watch any longer
Do not pre heat pie maker . and your pie's come out so brown . just saying
Never use shortcrust, it goes soggy.
Why is the sous chef telling the master chef how to cook
