It’s great business wise but material costs and property costs are through the roof. Land you can’t access from a road on the side of a mountain have sold for $100,000.
The house I’m working on currently was bought by a couple for a little over $500,000. The house is a ranch with basement, hasn’t been updated since it was built. Would not even pay $200,000 for it. Wiring is ungrounded and cloth coated, plumbing is cast iron, insulation in exterior walls is about 1-1/2 inch thick (about R5 rating), all walls and ceiling are plaster. Should be gutted on inside. Not worth $500,000

    1) Its also important to point out that
Social Security and Medicare are Federal Insurance Contributions that we refer to as "taxes". Since you get that money back when you retire, it's not actually a tax the same way that Income Taxes and Property Taxes are taxes.
    2) Rarely will an individual making $100k not have deductions and credits that reduce their actual tax payments, for example the Federal Home Mortgage Interest Deductions and VT State Homestead Declaration.

Just got my property taxes in Lowell Vermont..... once again town and state officials say really nothing I can do.... since I reside in Florida....I haven't added anything, same sq.footage.....same dirt,no gold in them their hills.... State officials in Montpelier, making more than ever.....pig and cow poop still smells the same ...Town officials Don't have the nuts to say ( No) on lowering the taxes...or even attempting to cut costs....No signs of SUBTRACTING in the future..... thanks for nothing City and State officials......
