      I live in Maine. Yes there is mosquitoes but there’s usually near towns. You can also get your landsprayed so you can’t get any bugs I have a next-door neighbor who sprayed her lawn and she has no mosquitoes or bugs. But we do because we haven’t sprayed so if your bother is mosquitoes you could get it sprayed or find a place that’s less likely to get them but there is blackflies in the Mosquitoes.

    Who's saying people in Maine are mean? These are the nicest people I've ever met so far. It's off-putting. I keep waiting for them to spring the 'gotcha moment' on me but it never happens. I really gotta learn how to drop my guard around them.
    Also, speaking as someone who has lived all over the south, including Alabama, Georgia, and texass, the correct pronunciation of that term you used is "southern hostility". There's nothing hospitable about the people I met in any of those places. I really had to learn to keep my guard up around them.

      I have to agree with you. I've lived in the south, as have members of my family and other friends that we have. We've all had very bad experiences in the south. Lots of the "art of language" disguising anger and hostility. I'm sure there are some nice people down there but I met a lot of people when I lived there and everyone I know who's elsewhere and lived in the south has had a very similar experience. The southerners tried to tell me how rude and inappropriate I am for being blunt (I'm from Michigan/ Chicago) even though I'm kind. We may be straight shooters, but we aren't hateful. I'm hoping to move to New England at some point.

      Go to Northern Maine to see real anger in the people. Also. They will steal your tools from your tool shed before you get back from the store. People are like this because they are not allowed to have a productive life. Struggle only. Pretty sad what this state has turned out to be.

    • @techmouse.
      @techmouse. 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@despicablemaine160 That's pretty much all of rural America in a nutshell. Everything is so spread out in most American cities. Car ownership is mandatory and acts as the gatekeeper. Without a car, the climb out of poverty is impossible. With a car, you would still have to be quite wealthy before all of the money being pumped into your car becomes trivial. Even in areas with adequate public transit, poverty is still rampant.
      Most of America is in a sad state and it's not an accident. It was by design. This was the intended outcome. They want the poor to stay poor.

      Black flies or May flies hate the smell of cinnamon the most. Other essential oils they dislike as well are peppermint, spearmint & eucalyptus.
      My neighbor 4 doors down uses Ambro Quick Kill Insect Killer for Lawn & Landscape. This stuff destroys black flies on contact. We have owned our home at OOB for 18 years and spend our vacation time in Aroostook County because of the overcrowding we have here. We look forward to fall and winter. The biggest complaint from locals is that the away people have expectations that everything will be the same as where they are from and can result in a lot of disrespect to those of us that call Maine our home. Rental properties are on the rise and many our neighborhoods have changed forever. My advice to those who move to Maine is leave the expectations you currently have behind and expect resistance to change because we like it how it is.

    One very very important thing that Outsiders need to realize before you move here. It is not a Haven for outdoor people in fact, Maine ranks number 50 in conservation land per acre. Especially in Southern and Midcoast Maine people go absolutely ape if they can find a 50 acre parcel two conserve. Then they will Criss-Cross it with 100 trails will Criss-Cross it with 100 trails and brag about the MIles. Other than L.L. Bean, Mainers basically don't like the outdoors that much. Survival for these people has been very historically difficult, so they tend to see the outdoors as the enemy

I go for work 2 -3 times a year and stay 2 weeks usually and will actually be there again in a couple weeks for a couple week stay again. We get our snow in the winter as well, but I will say about the slower pace and driving. I speed, I'll admit it and I have passed so many especially on back roads for going very slow. I have even had people pull over for me to pass them. It looks like they are turning somewhere and then I can see them get back on the road. With the people from Maine are mean it's absolutely true. Has nothing to do with Southern hospitality. I've been all over this country and I've never met such rude mean people in my life. It has way more to do with being decent, kind, respectful, like any other human would want people in Maine treat each other like they've known each other for 30 years and they don't like each other. But they still have that 30-year connection but there's no reason for it. It's just very odd and peculiar and when you mention it to someone from Maine. They instantly go to that. Well. This isn't the South with Southern hospitality. It's just a statewide delusion that they're not mean and rude. There is a lot of crime here. It's just hushed up and brushed under the rug. So much drug use and homelessness and mismanaged. It's just a nice place to visit for about 2 days cuz it's beautiful here but the people are just delusional and not the brightest bulb in the pack if you know what I'm saying

First my grandparents moved there and then my parents. So I thought I knew and loved Florida. After giving it 5 years I couldn't pack my bags fast enough after the passing of my Dad. Fueling the move was the politics. Talk about mean people! I had broken my leg, and had severe kidney issues. My son was pushing my wheelchair into a doctors office and as we approached the entrance a man spit on me for wearing a mask. The mask was required by the doctors office, and my mask was to protect me as a direct result of my bad kidney. Spit on me!! So much for southern hospitality. I don't think it exists any more. I would not reside in southern Maine either! Southern Maine is becoming inundated with transplants or in other terms "refugees" from Massachusetts now with a new moniker referred to as Northern Massachusetts. I think what is occurring there is a slow migration (retaking) of Maine by Massachusetts. The real issue these transplants are baggage laden bringing their liberal mindsets that taints the flavor and culture once found in this region of the state. Texas is experiencing this phenom in the migration to Utah, Texas, Tennessee and Florida. Hopefully they will not infiltrate north of liberal Portland.
