  • In todays video we are discussing the American Dream. There was once a point in time where the goal was attainable for most people in the middle class. Sadly, that is no longer the case that version of the american dream that we grew up with, is mostly dead.

If you worked hard for a loyal employer or at your own business, you could expect to have a shot at freedom, prosperity, a house, a car, a better life for your kids, a great retirement etc.
Especially for millennials and Gen Z. Add on top of that the rise in needing 2 jobs just to survive you see that the possibility of that white picked fence life we dreamed about is dead and long gone.
Now, the NEW American Dream is about something most people never thought they would do: Leaving the United States.

Speaking of “highways” yo that’s super crazy what you’re saying about the traffic situation being adversely affected by the population increase, that sucks, & can be highly stressful. @@jasminedtuckerI moved from Houston to Thailand last April. Houston is overcrowded. I stayed in a 1 bd room townhome paying 1,800 a month and then moved to Thailand to only pay $500 a month for a condo over looking the ocean. If you’re out of the country for a 330 days or more you don’t have to pay taxes on up to 120,000 of your income, but you still have to file. The food is probably the number one reason though. People under estimate how important food is. The food in the US is most gmo. Here everything is fresh. I grew up like most eating leftovers, but Thai people don’t they go to the market everyday to eat fresh food. I also lost 18 pounds in about 4 months because of the food and my same workout routine so to me the food which is the reason behind most illnesses is the number one reason to leave the US. I can actually easily get grapes with seeds here!

Blackrock needs to go under a rock I said let them buy up everything and they'll bankrupt themselves because we should stand up to these corporate goons and not buy or rent houses they own anymore they'll be stuck holding the bag and have squatters live in them for free or they'll sit there collecting dust and rot from the inside out, if our leaders were leaders at all they would stand up for us and put a limit or or place laws that limits the amount they can purchase in one area at a time but they're in on it too and no that's not capitalism that's what Communism is, it's they own everything and you pay for it and never own it or you're bought out and they dictate the market value because now they hold the cards, keyword...DICTATE the market. that's not an open market that's squeezing money out of you it's corporate greed at its finest.

2:30 *$1,700 for a one room apartment in CA.*
This is why I say, _"if 19 year old me was taken out of 1989 and dropped into the year 2019, life would have been a lot harder. And if it were NY or CA, I probably would not survive."_
In 1989, my first apartment was $220.00 / month in SE Wisconsin and it included underground parking. All that was required to move in was first month's rent and security deposit. Auto insurance was not yet a law. If you had a valid license, all you had to do was buy a car, register it, and start driving. My first car was a 1977 Buick Skylark that cost $500.00.
The minimum wage was $3.35 / hour. I was fortunate enough to earn $7.63. My energy bills were nine dollars and change.
Over the decades the economy became more and more burdensome with higher costs of living. Whatever political and economic disease that infected CA, is spreading throughout the U.S.

Good video, well presented, great arguments Eddie. Australia just imported 750,000 unskilled workers from India in one year, that is, more Indians in one year than there are Aborigines. And yet they “respect the aboriginal Elders” and are “sorry” for colonising this barren land and making it a real country. The number one cause of inflation is Landlords in parliament. More people means more rent for their properties. Almost every politician today is a landlord with 20+ houses stacked with uncontrolled immigration. The banks win because with higher rental return, the return on mortgages is on a bigger loan every year.
The countries you go to, you will find pockets of homelessness, rent poverty, crime. Where?
Wherever there are more than 3% people coming in each year from elsewhere.
The Landlord politician-banker-lawyer is the enemy of freedom and prosperity. America can be fixed tomorrow if they build the wall and deport all illegals who turned up since Clinton.
But no bank or landlord is going to want that!

Understand where youre coming from, but the american dream is definitely not dead. Im 33 and i grew up in a state run foster home. I applied for grants and scholarships for college and got a full ride. i now make 130k as a supply chain manager. Over the past 5 years ive saved 174k. Ive got no debt and an 805 credit score. Not sure of many other countries that wouldve afforded me the same opportunity the united states has, given my background. If i were born in any other country, without parents, i would be picking up recyclable materials from the landfill in hopes of getting one meal per day. Yes taxes are high, politics are polarized, rents high, but with a mindset of living below your means this country affords everyone an equal chance at making something of yourself. Alot of people just dont want to put in the work/ sacrifice to make themselves better. Most just sit on social media and idolize other peoples lives instead of taking action. I firmly believe we have the best country in the world, not because of my experience, but the fact we have millions of people flocking here through the southern border is a testament our country is better.

    • @nleddie

I do agree social mobility is very high in America. You can move up the ranks of society. I would say America is the best marketed country in the world. Americas greatest export is entertainment.
If someone told you there is a land where money grows on trees and gold is thrown on the street and you believed it you would risk death to go there to. But as many learn all the glitters aint gold.
There are millions I believe 1.2 americans who moved to mexico so migration is happening on both sides.

You make a lot of good points in your video. The cost of living in the USA is too high. That is a result of excessive deficit spending. Although, I don't think your experience in L.A. is typical of most people who don't live in lawless democrat party-run cities. I am happy that you are enjoying your travel and life abroad. I would caution you that you are benefitting from the high value of the US dollar in present times. The US dollar is still considered the premiere international currency but that could change in the not too distant future. Good luck to you and I hope you have a happy and fulfilling future.

The thing is the early struggles of every man should be treated equal and racial equality wasn't just being treated fairly it was about slavery as well was not just racism but truth is slavery is here now and has been for a long time and it's been covertly instilled into society of all races and disguised as "work" or "job" without any questions asked until it's the person waking up to it or going through it themselves, every man woman working class citizen is a modern day slave, has no race attached to it anymore just a rat race. it's lacking the financial freedoms and constant grind that leads to nowhere and you not owning anything including yourself, your lifestyle owns you, your GOV owns you, your financial institute owns you, your energy and consumption owns you, there is no walking away from that if you're in the US this is the cold hard facts and truth, you are owned in more ways than one.
I'm not saying just be a bum don't work but damn give us something in return, a mule and an acre is a good start, we work our asses off and most have nothing to show for it.
They've made it so hard to own any real estate or even owning a car that it's no wonder most feel like they're modern day slaves.
We spend 40-50 hours of life a week at work that's 160-200 a month of our life at work that's 1800-2400 hours of our lives a year at work just to survive and pay bills and taxes? What's the point of that? So they're not whipping us anymore but you step out of line they'll send someone after you or take something away usually financial or freedoms.

Eddie you literally chose the most expensive city/state (LA, California) in the country to juxtapose to Egypt which is a developing country. If a young person moves to Egypt how will they have money to live and retire? At least here in US, you can make a steady income and invest. Even if a person can save 1/3 of their income to invest (assuming they have a steady job making at least 30K a year), they will be very wealthy by the time they retire. If a person can invest 10k of their money annually into a low cost index like the S&P500 in 30 years when they check their account they will have close to 2 million dollars. We need to be teaching our people how to invest and not blow all their money living on a tourist visa in Africa.

sure. I mean I was born and raised in los angeles so therfore I can really only confidently speak on that location. the number of Americans over the age 75 is expected to double in next 6 years. So what retirement are you talking about. You will work untill you die in america.
