    A perfect take on Qui Gon's character. So many content creators call him a Grey Jedi as a knee jerk reaction to his relationship to the Jedi Council. They think going against the Council makes you closer to the Dark Side but they simply don't see that a true Jedi is a servant of the force not a servant to an organization.
    He was the only real Jedi alive in the prequel series.

    • @HisShadow
      @HisShadow 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Sypha Flowen Actually no. The light side is the natural state of the Force. The dark side is a cancer. That is why Anakin was the chosen one. Because he brought the force back to balance by destroying the Sith and by extension the dark side as a whole.

    • @HisShadow
      @HisShadow 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Sypha Flowen George Lucas has said that the dark side is not natural and its existence puts the force out of balance.

      I mean quite literally if Qui-Gon survived Dooku wouldn't have turned to the dark side, thus Grievous wouldve stayed normal because there is no Dooku to change him into the mechanical coughing machine we know, Anakin would have been raised correctly, the clone wars wouldn't have started. I would say Qui-Gon is the second most important character in the saga only to Anakin who is the chosen one.

  • @Fi_Sci_
    @Fi_Sci_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +98

    A line Qui Gon Jinn had said that always stuck out to me in The Phantom Menace is that _“Nothing happens by accident.”_
    Many stories we experience throughout the Skywalker Saga have their fair share of conveniences, but it is more likely The Force plays a larger role than we give it credit for since it guides our heroes.
    Even though it isn’t the best Star Wars Movie, I enjoy how in The Clone Wars movie Anakin had adopted some of Qui Gons teachings. Such as the Teth Monastery when Ahsoka wanted to prove to Anakin she was ready to be his Padawan, and Anakin had opened up to her by saying “Ahsoka, a very wise Jedi once said nothing happens by accident, it is the will of the Force that you are by my side.” It’s not a masterpiece by any means... but the Clone Wars Movie still has its moments.

      I think he did. The chosen one was to balance the force, if Qui Gon trained Skywalker and he didn't fall and even if they outed sidious as a sith the force would be out of balance. The Jedi in their form during the clone wars was a parody and mockery of what true light siders should have been. The Jedi order had to be destroyed along with the sith. If only the sith died, the chosen one would have faced a corrupt and crippled Jedi order that was far beyond redemption, beyond reform. The Jedi needed to die and be reborn.
      It is good that Qui Gon died when he did.

      My first unpopular take: the Service Corps should have led the council with knights, the 'warriors' looked down on the way the other services were.

    There's a reason the song is called "Duel of the Fates". Because of the three combatants in the lightsaber battle, the victor would go on to train Anakin. Maul in that moment managed to ensure the Sith would destroy the Jedi, and would unknowingly continue to ensure Sidious's plan would succeed even after turning on him during the Clone Wars. In Episode 1, however, Maul was the purest form of the Sith's teachings to bend the Force to _their_ will rather than submit to _its_ will.
    Had Qui-Gon survived, Anakin would have been trained as a true Jedi, and Sidious would not have been able to wom his way into Anakin's mind as Qui-Gon would have been the father figure in his life.

    • @somersault1123
      @somersault1123 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually, Anakin would have fallen harder but also more gracefully. The Jedi Order can't balance the force while it's a quasi-military branch of the Republic. This is why he's constantly trying to raise dark siders to destroy the Order although probably without realizing it. The Chosen One was always meant to destroy the Jedi Order so that the Sith would reveal themselves and could then be also ended.

    To appropriate a verse from Genesis 15:6:
    “Qui-Gon believed in the force, and he credited it to him as righteousness.”
    Qui-Gon trusted in the force as any truly righteous man should. It is why he conflicted so much with the Jedi Council.
    Just as the Pharisees and Levites during Jesus’s time had turned away from God in favor of adherence to the Law, the Jedi had turned their backs to the force and adhered to their code.
    Qui-Gon truly believed in the force and placed absolute trust in the force over following the code, which made him into a truly righteous Jedi. It is why he is the one to find the Chosen One and place absolute faith in him bringing balance to the force. It is also why the Jedi Council rejected the Chosen One, since they argued from the Jedi Code, not from their trust in the force.

  • @annuitcptis1447

    I wish the prophecy text was revealed. This is my take on it.
    Thus, the Whills spoke
    As the force has been disrupted by the Trinity of Mortis, granting mortals power,
    The mortal world will burn as time progresses. There will seemingly be peace,
    But darkness boils under the galaxy, its steam in the air. The ones who keep the peace will fall to ignorance,
    But the chosen will arise, understanding what others are too prideful to understand.
    To accept that there are things you don’t know and that they are always learners,
    To overcome pride and their public image, to know their true self, and accept death, living in balance with it.
    To learn from their own imperfections.
    To be a voice of reason when it is lacking, and violence fills the air.
    To be accused by many, to be enlightened by it, and to help others.
    To destroy the ignorance of both energies,
    To cleanse the plague of dark tyranny and hypocrisy of the light.
    To believe that what his mentors have hindered, and to be at peace, confident in the heart,
    To lose peace in place of pride, reviving hypocrisy and self righteousness, becoming who he swore will never be, and run.
    To be pure, to live a hard life but not lose hope, to believe that hope is always present, having a child’s heart.
    To be humbled, to help, to rise, to restore balance, to sacrifice, and to rise anew,
    To restore balance.

    So it was Yoda who was the reason for Qui Gon Jinn becoming Obi-wan's master? Wow... Just think about it, if not for that one bit of meddling by Yoda the entire fate of the galaxy would've taken on a whole new trajectory...
    Side note:Ever think about doing a video on the Zabrak?

    This was great and I agree with your vision of Jinn being closer to the will of the force and it leading him into disagreements with the Jedi Council.
    Disagree on Anakin ending war between the light and dark sides of the force. That is an eternal conflict, only the battles along the way may be won.

    Qui Gon: *destined to find The Chosen One*

    Rey: *destined to succeed The Chosen One*

    IF any Jedi seen in the movies was a True jedi it would be Qui-gon he was of the living force and the force willed him, even yoda does not compare to how close qui-gon was with the living force, though maybe by the time Yoda met luke he was closer...

    What do I think? I think we needs a Star Wars trilogy with Liam Neeson being Anakin's Master. The only difference would be if Qui-Gon didn't push Maul through the rayshields and left Kenobi to watch on in horror. If he held back a bit and waited for his Padawan, he'd get back the numbers advantage and Obi-wan would still kill Darth Maul. This feat would allow him to become a Jedi Knight in his own right, which would allow Qui-gon Jinn to take on Anakin as his apprentice.

    The Duel of the Fates was the battle between Qui-Gon and Darth Maul. Whoever won would forever change Anakin's fate. If Qui-Gon won, Anakin would likely never have fallen. But, Maul won, and so Anakin's fate as Darth Vader was sealed.
