    Ulic Qel-Droma, Revan, Juhani... just a handful of some of the greatest Jedi and most notable Jedi of their times that fell to the dark only to be turned back to the light. Fantastic video as always, I highly doubt I'd be the only one to and an untrimmed version of it, though.

      @R J Meeks I'll admit, I don't know as much about her as I wish I did, but from what Jolee Bindo said about her, she must have indeed been a great Jedi as well.

      @R J Meeks Nomi Sunrider is truly the first powerful female Jedi. Unlike Rey. She struggles, she trained longer with Thon, her naivety makes more sense, she had powerful force abilities, she was earned to be like by others over given, and was the first youngest Jedi Grandmaster in galactic history. Even losing Ulic in the same way as losing her Jedi husband is more tragic and sensible than Rey losing Kylo Ren.

    I first learned about Ulic Qel Droma and the Great Sith War as a kid playing "The Clone Wars" on PS2. The brief mentions during the cutscenes got me so excited, and I remember wondering what the Old Republic Era was like, since I was too young to play the KOTOR games (plus I didn't have an Xbox back then).
    Years later in my early teens, I was at a local comic book store that still had a lot of the Dark Horse Star Wars comics from the 90s, and I happened to catch one of the covers: "Star Wars, Tales of the Jedi: The Sith War," and I snatched 'em up. The feeling I had in the late 2000s, reading a comic from the 90s about an event referenced in a game from 2002, is something I can't describe but was one of many that made me the Star Wars fan I am today.
    Say what you will about the Disney era, I don't think any kid will have the kind of experience I had growing up during the George Lucas/Legends era: watching the Original Trilogy on VHS, then seeing the Prequel Trilogy on the big screen and then DVD. Meanwhile, everything from comics to toys to video games was connected in this massive fictional universe that touched upon ALL times and angles of the Star Wars universe, even if you didn't need to understand it to enjoy the six movies.
    That feeling of a huge, expanded universe that seemed so limitless and timeless, even in real-life years, is something I don't think any generation will get to experience again, although I hope I'm wrong.

    Fun fact: Knights of the Old Republic was originally intended to have Vima Sunrider as one of the main characters. Apparently there was some issue with the rights to the name "Sunrider", so they created the character of Bastila Shan to replace Vima in the story. So Vima almost ended up being Revan's love interest.

  • @robertbarrows6687

    You keep getting Exar Kun's fate wrong. His ritual created a massive amount of dark side energy that rose up from Yavin IV and the Jedi were forced to contain it with the most powerful Light Side technique the Wall of Light. The two energies collided which turned Yavin IV into a fireball and destroyed Kun's body, but left him functionally immortal since he was bound to his temples.

    • @samueldimmock694
      @samueldimmock694 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pretty sure it was Kun's ritual that made him functionally immortal, and the Wall of Light just prevented him from leaving the Great Temple until Luke's students came along and broke it. Though I've never read the comics, so I could be wrong.

    • @alsimmonshellspawn6021

      @alsimmonshellspawn6021 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Samuel Dimmock the ritual was to make him a all powerful being but because the wall of light he was depleted of his energy reserves, the source enply that exar kun would have become even more powerful as a living being than he was as a spirit if it wasn't for the jedi, and we already know what a weaker spirit kun did to a luke Skywalker who was trained by yoda obi wan and papaltine after dark empire

    Most of his story is a lot like Anakin mainly with his fall and redemption. But the last few bits of it were more like what they tried to do with Luke during the Last Jedi but failed at because that wasn't his character. And Ulic's story did it better.

      @@GayFishYethere’s a new Legends book called Supernatural Encounters that says that Revan was actually Ulic’s son that he had with the Mandalorian woman that died on Cathar. Is name was Naak Qel-Droma, and was given to the Jedi Order, specifically Nomi, when then gave the baby to Arren Kae. Naak means peace in Mandalorian. They hid his Mandalorian heritage until he discovered his mother’s death and took her mask. The book was never officially published, but was in the works to become canon to the old EU before Disney shut it down. What’s cool is that it’s about New Republic historians trying to chronicle all history destroyed and subverted by the Empire so not all the information is 100% valid so that if you don’t like an idea you don’t have to accept it. I like it because Revan and Ulic are already so similar, and Bastila was originally meant to be Vima Sunrider anyway (there was an issue with copyright involving a car called Sunrider) and it helps tie Duron to his cousin’s son Naak (Revan)

    Love the video, but Satal and Alema Keto only seemed to visit Onderon once and it was during the last battle were Omin died. Nadd led them to his artifacts and told them they were theirs to take and it's how they formed the Krath, and they still communicated with Freedon across the galaxy

    The reason why Dave filoni series have the same name as Tom veich tales of the jedi is because Dave filoni loves to steal from others writers and doesn't like to give credit to them, he wait until tom veich passed away to steal from him, which is very disrespectful

    • @RedXlV
      @RedXlV ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pretty much the entire Tales of the Jedi comic series has been restored to canon, at least loosely, since 2016. There's in-universe stories called the "Qel-Droma Epics" that are implied to be the exact story told in the comics, though it says historians are uncertain about the factual accuracy. Thus, Exar Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma *were* Sith Lords thousands of years prior to the events of the movies, and Qel-Droma was redeemed and helped defeat Kun. Though the exact details could differ in minor ways.

    This is why the jedi needed to change the way they viewed and treated the force. Had they at least allowed balanced training between the light and the dark even just for some jedi who they test and believe can resist falling they would be better able to guide the order and prevent their own from turning constantly. instead the Jedi allowed the very thing they preached against to control them; fear

    • @samueldimmock694
      @samueldimmock694 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If by "balanced training" you mean something like Vaapad, where you channel your inner darkness and the dark-side Force energy of your surroundings without letting it touch you or control you, then that would definitely be ideal, but the number of Jedi who would be able to do so would be extremely small, and the risks extremely high (of the three people thought capable of mastering Vaapad, two fell to the dark side). If you mean theoretical study of the Dark Side, I completely agree.

    • @decepticonxhunter4850
      @decepticonxhunter4850 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't work like that chief. The smallest exposure to the Dark Side will lead the user to want more of it. Eventually, it wouldn't be enough for them to just dabble in a little of it at a time. They start to become reliant upon it to the point of diving in it headfirst like an alcoholic. It's not irrational for a person to avoid sticking their hand in fire when they know they'll get burnt.
