    I remember when I went 3 months without a retie. It was so early in my journey that I almost had to shave it all off and start over. I ended up just learning how to retie myself via TH-cam and now 12 years later I know that was the best decision I ever made and I’ll never go back to letting anyone else to it. It’s tedious sometimes but it was worth it for me. I love your locks, so full and gorgeous!!

    I nearly fell off my chair when you said $1,400.00 for a retie!! Crazy!!
    Your hair still looks amazing despite the length of time that passed between reties. You've got a gorgeous head of hair girl!!
    Still can't believe your Mom managed to get it all tidied up and for the most part kept all your locs intact. Superb job!!!

    Your mom did a wonderful job. I think you should pay your mom to do your hair from now on. Tell her it will be you'll bonding time. Also ten weeks is to long to do reties. When I first started my locs I could go 8 to 10 weeks, but I'm 40 months in and I find that my hair grows faster so I now have to have my hair retie 6 to7 weeks. Girl just beg momma. She loves you. She'll do it.

    I don't think you should be waiting 10 weeks - see how your hair is growing and once you can do a full rotation make that appointment. You may have to move up to 8 weeks.

    Now that your grid is re-established you can go back to the loctician. Just let her know what point system your mom uses when doing your hair. I have sister locs, and I’ve switched locticians before. When they can’t see the grid it just makes it harder for them. But I can 100% say that it would be safe to go to a loctician again, we’ll a affordable one. It’s $225 for my retie and I have over 500 locs. My loctician is also a brand ambassador for sister locs

  • @nunubian9419

    Your mom did that! It looks great! We can see your scalp again lol Have you thought about retwisting your micros? Just because they are a bit thick and honestly retwisting is quicker. I have well over 500 locs and retwist them and haven't run into any issues.

    @4:07 that’s my question! Thanks for answering. I couldn’t see the grid when you would turn around but when I saw your moms I thought it was crisp. But my eyes are bad so I was like let me just ask. Lol. Great video! I do think you should do braiding and banding. But maybe not like a new loc’d person would… :)

    @denimili7659 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That her really suits you beautifully. I actually prefer them with curly tips (when it looks like braids from a certain distance). I wish I had had your patience and diligence. I gave up on my DIY locs because of the self retie routine... I would put a loc inside another, I didn't have the right tool so I used a Bobby pin... I had to tear my hair and it was a horrible experience.

    👏🏾 Your mom is the best! Shame on the SL consultant that did that to you. Will your mom try to fix it? I've been using this part of your journey as a lesson to my niece to keep up on the retightenings if she is really serious about getting microlocs or SL. She sees my SL and says "Oh pretty, I want" without thinking about the upkeep. But I'm rambling, YOUR HAIR IS GORGEOUS, nice big Lions mane.

    Thank goodness for your mother. I would pay her double to keep my locs up if i were you. Is there a reason why she was no longer maintaining your locs? Perhaps you can agree to the front and she do the back or something along those lines. Either way, I'm glad you were able to save your locs. I am removing my locs as we speak and will re-do them (either with a loctition or myself) I'm very picky about my grid (OCD) and would take them out but that is me lol. Mom is the real MVP. No lie, I was disappointed to see that the loctician you saw was actually SL trained. So what was with all that haphazard stuff she was doing at the back of your head? Those locs wasn't in a straight line or nothing. SMH. I know you have DIY microlocs, but that's still not a reason to act like a guided comb won't make a straight line. She definitely could have figured out your "grid" if she really wanted to. Crazy!

    I would love to see the morning and night routine and wash day. When I wash my hair some come a-loose. And is it normal to have long strands of hair with between my locs? WHat I did was used very little loc gel and palm rolled each one . Help. My thoughts were the strands will Eventually lock around the braids other than that I don’t put products in my hair I will moisten my tips they all have a little curl I have soft fine hair

    You should have your mum section and braid your hair when you're going to get you next retie since she knows the grid. That way it would be a bit easier for the loctician to maintain your parts.

    Girl the costs of having someone start and maintain micro locs is why I never got them. But if you don’t mind driving 3 hours to Austin, my kickboxing classmate has a loctician that does her reties for $300. There are a handful of reputable locticians in Austin so you’ll literally come across the same ppl when doing research lol. Shop around for sure.
