    You should still consider combining. Your locs will still be small and you will have volume without of feeling overwhelmed about reties. Ask your your loctician, she’ll be able to tell which locs to combine without compromising volume. Your locs are gorgeous! Don’t give up before you see what their full potential could be.

    You should combine. Sometimes we’re afraid to let go of what we thought we wanted. However, There’s no reward for continuing on a journey that doesn’t seem to be serving us. Some of them look thread thin, they’re breaking off etc. Good luck on the consultation and whatever you decide.

    Please please please consider combining them. I have really thick hair as well and I had to combine some of mine. I still have about 480 locs and its so much more manageable. I did not lose any volume (i was so afraid of that). I do my reties myself and it takes me 3 days max. If I go to my loctician, it takes about 3 hours. It's not worth the headache. You hair will also be healthier.

    Hi TyKara, I love my loctician and I usually go to her for a re-tight every 2 months. I took the Sisterlock course a few years ago and it cost me $1400. Im glad I did because I can do my own re-tight with the pattern that works for my hair. I haven't been to see my loctician for about 6 months because the price went way up above my current budget. Its tedious for me to do it myself so I simply relax and do small sections a couple times a day. Takes me about a week to finish my re-tight. I have a mirror that allows me to see my hair 360 degrees and that helps a lot. I still end up accidently connecting some of my locks which is frustrating but since they are so thin I don't mind giving them some extra strength and support. I like your technique. The most important thing for me is to make sure all the surrounding locks are clipped down before I work on a loc and spritz them with water. Your locs are beautiful! Thanks for sharing. Have fun!💕

    Girl I feel you on the time consuming re-ties and being overwhelmed by it. I combine some of mine nearly every time I do a re-tie. I'm currently doing a re-tie. I'm so tired. My sides hurt and I need a nap but I also don't want to stop😭. Every month I wished I had traditional locs😂

    Can’t wait to see how it turns out. Sucks they’ve become so hard to manage but I appreciate you sharing. I have a little over 300 locs and my mom also helps me retie them so I completely understand the whole scheduling time with mom doesn’t always go as planned. 😅

  • @AyanaOLisha

    I do the same for my reties, I wash the day before and separate them into sections. Then I will do them section by section cause I can’t just knock them out in one day cause I have 2 small girls.
    But I think if you did combine some of your super tiny locs you would still have volume. Just ask your loctician which is best. I’m glad you did find someone to help you.

  • @LadyDee150
    @LadyDee150 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I only have about 155 locs so its not so overwhelming for me to retie my locs. To prep for retying I part my hair into about 7 sections with the crown in a separate section, then I start from the back and come forward. It usually takes between 5 and 6 hours to complete. Your locs are truly gorgeous and I love love love the volume, but I can imagine how challenging it is for you to retie over 500 locs. If you can get your loctician to combine some of the smaller ones that may be good so that your beautiful locs would be more manageable. Great video!!

    I started my hair myself, no grid, and I have 219 locs approximately. I do my reties myself and I wash my hair first and then retie, it takes about 2 days. I wish I had more locs though - maybe if it was sisterlocs, I would of had more.

    I’m so excited for you! Even if you were to combine down to the 400s, it would still be voluminous. But I totally understand the hesitation to combine; I only have 153 but some of mine are thinner than the rest and I get so tempted to combine them or comb out and make them all that small. However, I’m -stubborn- dedicated to my set and excited to see where it will lead. Can’t wait to see your retie!

    Hey girl 👋🏽 I love your hair boo! I am 9 months into my loc journey and only retied ONCE🤣 & it took 2 weeks. I have 378 and I couldn’t keep up with my reties. I want to go to someone SO BAD but I’m so nervous to let someone else do my hair! I started retwisting to keep my roots from combining and have been doing that most of the journey. Not sure how the locking process will look for me in the future but we gone see lol. I’m headed over to watch part 2 of this video. Thank you for your honesty. I was seeing a loctician every 6-8 weeks but I currently have to invest my money in other things. I retie my own locs now which takes about 2 days (I’m trying to get down to 1). I only have about 470 locs, so it’s not that bad. I always wash and deep condition the night before to moisturize my roots and have a fresh look. I’m eager to know the hair products she recommended so I can use them. Your hair is so beautiful btw!

    Whenever I consider locs this is one of the things that prevents me from moving forward. I know I won't be able to retie them myself consistently, but I'd rather be independent cause it's so hard to find a reliable stylist. & now with covid - all those hours and people becoming lax about masks. Ugh ugh
