When it refered to medusa, it not only ment eye contact, but by depriving you of all senses is kind of like being turned to stone in a way. < wow, I had no idea this comment got this many likes>
Nah, it's because you literally get paralyzed by looking at people infected eyes, that's where the Medusa comes from and also the stone cold, cause u just a paralyzed dead body ( cold )
Also, I find it important to note: The first strain, with the eye contact, is curable through removing the eyes *in the first two minutes only*. After that, you're gone, lost, done, and getting paralyzed, step by step. Within less than 5 minutes, you're completely infected, and are either dead or a threat to everyone around you. An added layer of horror to having your eyeballs have to be surgically removed within the first stage if you want to survive - you would have to have them removed without painkillers because no anesthesia would take effect fast enough for them to remove it before the first stage passes... Whether you have your eyes surgically removed, or they explode out of your head, it sounds like a very painful way to go😢
and people who are even able to have them removed are lucky. i imagine itd be next to impossible to have your eyeballs surgically removed in a scenario where there's no doctors nearby, since the first stage only lasts 2 minutes. so if you're on a camping trip deep in the woods or whatever and you get infected, you might as well already be dead... unless you wanna remove the eyeballs yourself💀

Imagine being turned to stone. I don't know if you would be conscious, but in anime like Dr. Stone, unless their "statues" crumbled from environmental damage, they were either unconscious or conscious. Imagine being turned to stone, not being able to quite die but being conscious with nothing but your thoughts to accompany you. That would turn anyone insane.
You know what would be scarier? Being a zombie who's fully conscious of what they're doing to their loved ones but having no control of what their undead body is doing. Being trapped in your own body, while your body is basically a weapon.

Watching this while its storming outside; the vibes give me chills. Also, the video is made in such a way that makes it all seem so real, like it's happening right now...
im currently reading anne frank's diary, and 23:44 when the young girl is talking about wanting to go outside reminds me of the book. after about a year of living in the annex, anne frequently writes about just wanting to go outside for once, but she knows if she does she will likely die. just a thing i noticed.
I am also reading the same book! And yes it does feel kind of same but still I feel bad for the people who had to live in similar conditions. I'm not that much through the book yet.
something i noticed that im not seeing many people pick up on is that in the last section (during the animated scenes) it seems to take place several years later. during the discovery report at the beginning it says that it was recorded in 1988 however during the last tv broadcast (it can be hard to see because of the angles) it says that "no new discoveries have been made in the last few years" it also says that "77% of the population is infected as of May 1st, 2000". i could be misinterpreting, but from what i can tell the events of this video have taken place over the course of 12 years
To add onto this theory, i have also noticed that some of the tech they were using at the end, (The computer with modern youtube and bbc websites) were significantly more advanced than they could have been in the 90's
Look at 29:10. There’s a tweet about Thai cannibalism sent at 8:40 PM on March 1st, 2020. This would be roughly 20 years AFTER 77% of the world population got infected…kinda curious…how many more people got infected since then?
if you haven't noticed it yet. in most of this video they have infrasound frequencies playing, i can hear the rumbling through my sub and upper shelf speakers lol that's why it kept scaring you or others during the video. infrasound frequencies have tendencies to ignite your fight or flight and various other components of the human mind
I kinda like the Greek myth compilation effect this virus has. You've got the eye contect paralysis of the virus' namesake, and the birds acting as sirens of sorts, in that hearing their call lures you to your imminent death, unless you're restrained. Also reminiscent of the Stymphalian birds that could kill people. And then there's the icy hands of Thanatos around your shoulders, and his cold breath on your neck.Pretty cool so far.
The virus appears to be sentient, which explains how it keeps adapting in such effective ways. The virus spoke to us with that distorted little girl voice after the birds became carriers. It also seemed to jump to digital, though it wasn't contagious.
@@TypeZeta2 I wouldn't be surprised if the cognito-hazardous biohazard began evolving into some memetic or anti-memetic infohazard that can kill based on the sixth sense or - in this case - probably the mind (akin to SCP-3125, by the direction in which we are trending).
35:20 “it’s hard to see but you can tell his eyes exploded there” yeah. It was hard to see. I had to turn my brightness to full and turn off all my light bruh
I think I figured it out for the "touch" symptom, but it's a bit of a stretch Touch was already taken away, because of the paralysis from the first symptoms of Eye Contact. It was just much more subtle bc of the other symptoms kicking in.
If you look closely at 8:42 it looks like his head is like past his chest that could be one of the side effects to the infection, and if you think about it in the diagrams of the broadcast, it showed like disfigured individuals in their neck were like broken in someway so he could be infected, but he’s like fighting it but that’s a theory of mine
The scary thing is, these infected don’t seem to be very hostile, it’s more like something you cannot control unless you catch it early. (Atleast from where I am)
17:26 It wasn't them that was crying, it was someone who was infected and the gas made them come to the source of it, aka the infected person who spread the gas, for as we know, a sign of the infected is "soft weeping"
I have terrible ADHD and its increbily difficult for me to stay focused without background noise, but a lot of other video distract me. I love your reviews of analog horror series because they're entertaining without distracting me from my work. You're one of my comfort streamers at this point lol.
on the second recording, the date changed from June 17th to August 5th which makes me think that the virus can tamper with electronics which also means that the warning not to use phones could be fake. maybe the virus will tell people they can come out but they can't.
It's not only on the second recording it's on the first one too!! The date changes from July 13th 1988 to July 17th 1988 to August 5th 1988, even though the recordings are said to be in June 13th, 17th and August 5th of 1998. Makes me wonder if it's electronics or some kind of memory loss?
With how the live action shots played out with the TV, it's very reminiscent to Skinamarink. My god, this is genuinely numbing. The sound design really added another layer of fear. This virus is literally on a mission. Depriving us and picking us off.
My main issue with this series is that the time and era are inconsistent. This doesn't sound bad, but it really takes you out of it when we see old ads and VCR footage mixed with Ring footage and CNN. If it happened over time it would make sense, but it's not because alerts that look like their from the 90s are cut before Ring recordings. Also, audio recorded in the late 80s when they talk about investigative reports done on it in the late 90s. It's really off-putting and very distracting when I can't put a timeline of events together or understand what time we're even in.

This virus is pretty interesting, it’s doing everything possible to either force humans to contract it or be reduced to living a life akin to solitary confinement, like Marcus said it’s targeting the five senses, but it also seems like it’s inspired by Greek mythology. The Medusa reference is obvious, but they’re also mentioning sirens, and the smell *might* be some obscure Greek mythos thing, but I’d have to research that to say for certain, there’s also the allusions to Mandela catalogue which seems more like heartfelt references.
Ong this thing is either a bioweapon or some supernatural shit because the fact that specifically targets all the stuff humans instinctually do is brutal. Irl viruses are nightmare fuel as well with stuff like brain eating prions but those aren't contagious and it's rlly low cases.
Fun fact! While they're usually portrayed as similar looking to mermaids, Greek mythology Sirens- known for luring people to their doom using their voices- are actually half-bird women!
thats probably my favorite thing in analog horror. never gets old to me. the vita carnis research documentary series is another very good example of this
Perfect things to survive: Gas mask: the toxic air can’t get in. Noise canceling headphones: for the infected birds that scream Improved scrambler goggles: cant see the face of the infected
That one scene halfway through with the little girl talking about missing her old life.... Man thst was sad. My sister was like that during quarantine.
i swear there must be a phobia for analog horror, i get so anxious and paranoid when i watch it even with someone with me or with someone reacting, idk why i just get so afraid
Easy solution. Wear sunglasses with very dark glasses. You can't make eye contact if the other can't see your eyes. Eye contact has to go both ways sooo
ngl this guys a perfect balance of 2 types of reaction channels one type gives no opinions, the other blocks out the vid by voicing too many he watches the vid silently, then stops to review every few minutes which is a good system
Real, I usually dislike reaction channels but I love his. One because I'm too much of a sissy to watch analog horror alone, two because him reading things out means I can put this on in the background, and three his commentary feels valuable
This was my very first Analog Horror Video from you and i was terrified af. After that Video, i was addicted to your Analog Horror Videos. Great Work, keep it up!
The eyes may be infected due to the inflammatory immune system not being limited which would cause the eyes to swell like stated, and possibly burst due to tissue inflammation.
I remember that movie & the game 😅 Once, some kid stepped in a mud puddle while playing BirdBox in 5th grade. That day, playing BirdBox got banned at my elementary school 😂
There is something very funny about the line "do not learn lockpicking" being in an analog horror series like this. Will say though, up until the virus infected birds, I dont think it really makes sense that it was spreading very much? Because it has zero incubation period, and quickly induces paralysis in victims, so there would've been no way for it to get very far. Like, there's no way someone infected would've been able to drive to another city or get on a plane.
Honestly, when listening to the bird's shrieking, I don't know how to explain it but I got an urge to just rip my headphones off. It was so realistic and I'm honestly terrified of that ever becoming a reality.
First off, this series is stone cold gold!…No pun intended. Second, I think you may be onto something with the whole “lack of senses” thing, and here’s my two cents as well. Our five senses are what allow us to interact with everything around us. Without our senses, we are trapped within our own bodies. We are, in a sense, turning into stone. And then I remember the name-The Medusa Virus. According to the original Greek myth, Medusa turned people into stone from direct eye contact. As for where the virus is coming from…Well, if the name is anything to go by, I suggest checking any snakes for suspicious behavior. But once again, that’s just my two cents :3 Keep up the good work, Mr. Marcus!(Can I call you that?) EDIT: Another thing I just remembered. The birds? Their maddening cries? The sirens in the sky? In Greek mythology, Sirens were creatures whose singing could drive sailors insane and cause them to throw themselves off of their boats in order to reach the song. Though they are nowadays shown as creatures akin to mermaids, the original design for them depicted them as…birds. It’s a similar situation to the birds in the series. Long story short, Greek myths everywhere. Who knows? Maybe it can help lead to the cure? :3
The birds in the sky could also be harpies since they can make people deaf or mad with they're cries. Also Medusa is technically a harpy (I think according to some tellings of the myth) so maybe it's a connection.
@@serpens_omnirealmtheatre Medusa is a gorgon, one of three born of the gods Phorcys and Ceto. The harpies were born of the gods Thaumas and Electra. Only thing gorgons and harpies have in common are wings and an appetite for human flesh.
So intrested in this one!! Seems really cool :)I was also thinking about how it might be a bit more paranormal. Im not sure but at the end of the emergency broadcasts, they say "may god help us all" not to mention, during the segment talking about the birds, it says "lock yourself in before the angels take you" which really makes me think that there might be something important connected to this. Not sure tho. Really interested to see whats next!
Huge props to this creator, I watch analog horror series while I do art and I had to put up my markers because I jumped SO bad at that break in part that I knew I'd probably mess up my work. Scary stuff!
As soon as i read the title it reminded me of a creepypasta narration by The Dark Somnium, that has the same premise: a virus that spreads through eye contact. It was a pretty disturbing short story and i hope the analog horror is gonna be good too cause i've just clicked on the video. (Edit: i'm halfway through in the video and now that i noticed the birds are also involved into this whole thing and can get infected, i'm highly speculating that the creator might be inspired from that story..or vice versa idk how old this series nor the creepypasta story are. But yeah i strongly think one was inspired by the other and it's interesting to know)
If someone knows anything about SCP, then you probably know about 096, that was my first thought when they said do not make eye contact, and Im very certain that at 17:00 you can hear his crying sound

This is genuinely terrifying to think about. It strips you of all your senses, everything that makes you human.
Fun fact:@@HazbinCovenWitch There's a type of fungus that infects ants that makes the completely lose control of their muscles, but not doesn't kill their brain, the fungus spreads by getting an ant to stay in a single place and keep growing and growing till it releases spores.

Yeah that was really sad. Just thinking about having to coop my child up inside all day every day is depressing.
Poor kid has to live in this suffocating world..
something i noticed that im not seeing many people pick up on is that in the last section (during the animated scenes) it seems to take place several years later.
during the discovery report at the beginning it says that it was recorded in 1988 however during the last tv broadcast (it can be hard to see because of the angles) it says that "no new discoveries have been made in the last few years" it also says that "77% of the population is infected as of May 1st, 2000".
i could be misinterpreting, but from what i can tell the events of this video have taken place over the course of 12 years
To add onto this theory, i have also noticed that some of the tech they were using at the end, (The computer with modern youtube and bbc websites) were significantly more advanced than they could have been in the 90's

I think I figured it out for the "touch" symptom, but it's a bit of a stretch

If you look closely at 8:42 it looks like his head is like past his chest that could be one of the side effects to the infection, and if you think about it in the diagrams of the broadcast, it showed like disfigured individuals in their neck were like broken in someway so he could be infected, but he’s like fighting it but that’s a theory of mine
The scary thing is, these infected don’t seem to be very hostile, it’s more like something you cannot control unless you catch it early.
(Atleast from where I am)

My main issue with this series is that the time and era are inconsistent. This doesn't sound bad, but it really takes you out of it when we see old ads and VCR footage mixed with Ring footage and CNN. If it happened over time it would make sense, but it's not because alerts that look like their from the 90s are cut before Ring recordings. Also, audio recorded in the late 80s when they talk about investigative reports done on it in the late 90s. When I saw the title I was like “OMG! IM WEARING CONTACTS RN WILL I GET SICK?!?!”

Will say though, up until the virus infected birds, I dont think it really makes sense that it was spreading very much? Because it has zero incubation period, and quickly induces paralysis in victims, so there would've been no way for it to get very far.
Marcus!(Can I call you that?)
EDIT: Another thing I just remembered.
@@MaxwellMakes1 There could be! Although, I thought Medusa was a Gorgon?
I love this, this is an amazing theory and would actually make sense.
@@serpens_omnirealmtheatre Medusa is a gorgon, one of three born of the gods Phorcys and Ceto. The harpies were born of the gods Thaumas and Electra. Only thing gorgons and harpies have in common are wings and an appetite for human flesh.
Even better than my theory wow! Good job man!
