I love my 114 Fat Bob. Sure, it isn't the best motorcycle in the world. ...but it puts a smile on my face every time I ride and that's what's important. It feels right for me.
Thanks for the video. 👍
I love my Fatbob also. Such a cool looking ridable bike.
Stupid is as stupid does.
@@BuffaloweRider I don't disagree with your statement Forrest. Have a great day.
Nice one Freddie. Good to see you doing a more bike related video. Back to your old roots! 👍🏼
Thanks Jonathan!
I often think how much difference having a large front tyre would make .?
@@daryldaryl913makes the front end feel very heavy and the front wheel flops into turns.
Completely agree on the bikes that make you smile. The "cool" factor is never to be left aside unless when buying a commuter. And even in that case, choosing something that we like to an extent helps on the long run.
100% agree!
My commute is 55mi each way. I have a metric V-twin, and it turns that daily chore into a soulful delight.
The biggest smile you are going to get is when you have your Bonneville back better than new.
Cheers!
That’s going to be an epic video.
One of the nicest looking big bikes I’ve ever seen. Looks intimidating
Wait until you see the price
@@gyges5495listen bro the price is high but you have to remember from the brits aspect its an overprived luxury bike from a super rich giga country and it doesnt really fit in over there and it already costs a lot even here in usa. Not enough people bought it because costs trended up and it killed off a bunch of companies and parts of them
Congrats mate. I stopped wasting time responding to the Harley Haters many years ago. You either get it or you don’t. Well, it’s clear you got it baby! Enjoy 🤘🏻
Oh Freddie! The big thing about your vids is your raw enthusiasm! I love it!
I love my 2023 Fatbob. The Milwaukee 114 is a great engine .
Me and the missus have watched all of your videos since your Isle of Wight trip (which we replicated), and love every minute of them. One bit of constructive criticism that she would love, is that Monica would give her point of view as a pillion on all of the bikes that you get hold of. Cheers!
The look on your face at 3:16 when you are kneeling behind the bike is priceless. You look in awe of that great engine. This is a REAL motorcycle - looking brutal, almost lethal...enjoy the ride!
Haha it’s so true! I LOVE the drama of Harleys, and this one has drama levels off the scale
Great engine, sounds like a tractor, with the same looks, the engine is agricultural at best,,as others have pointed out cheaply built, as for brut force, low in hp for it's overweight frame.
Why reply to people's opinion with your own, especially when not asked for? You seem to think anyone cares what you have to say. That bike is awesome, like all bikes are. @@kbarnbrook4993
Rode one yesterday for a few hours. Really fun bike ride! You’ll love this thing!
Wow, I love the compact and raw nature of the Fatbob, the first Harley my heart desires.
I had one like this, sold it because there is always another bike ticking to me... but for sure I loved it! 😀
Ohh Freddie & Monika, great to have you back home in the cold! I truly think you’re missing the classic Bonneville. You’re feeling homesick & missing out. Any motorcycle you ride, you’ll fall in love with. Withdrawal.
Purchased mine in 2021 and puts a smile on my face every time I open the garage door and go for a ride. The best handling Harley I've owned.I noticed a few comments on price. Yes, they are expensive, but the brand hold there value better than most.
Wow. Learned about a new place near home! South-East London for the win. I'll definitely visit that café, now! So sad the Fat Bob is getting discontinued! I'm seriously considering getting it before it's too late!
Couldn't agree more with the chap delivered the Fat Bob, if it puts a smile on your face every time you open the garage door then you bought the right bike 😊
Much better seeing you back in UK for a while (getting a little tired of the travel vids)
My favourite HD! Love the styling, feeling of ride and engine (117 only). Looking forward to your videos with it 😊
My opinion on Harley Davidson changed last summer. I used to think HD was just a cosplay vompany that happened to do motorbikes sometimes.
I stayed with a friend in RI, USA. We ride about on all sorts of bikes and the one that made the most sense for the situation we were in was the HD! I ate my words.
I ate my words as well. I really dislike HD as a company, and their pushy salesmen lol. So I'd steered clear of them for a while, but I ended up purchasing a Low Rider ST last year. In my opinion that bike is just the perfect cruiser bike, and I use it daily to commute and grocery shop and whatever else I'm doing. I'll keep it until the wheels fall off
@@tomoates8568 If the wheels are anything like everything else on a harley, that wont be long lol.
@@jvillain9946 Lol, trust me I'm no Harley fan boy, but mine has been reliable. I trust it, ride daily rain or shine 🤷♂ not a single issue so far at 10k miles
@@tomoates8568I'm just ribbing ya. But hey that's better than my s1krr. Only 700 miles and I'm already having quickshifter and solenoid issues.
@@jvillain9946 awww no kidding?! At least it’s still under warranty I assume
Best recommendation I ever heard for a Harley was from the man who taught me to ride. He said I bought a Harley back in the eighties and it was the only bike he ever owned that he had to get up in the middle of the night to ride it. And that would have been a shovelhead.
If it was a shovel it was the oil leak dripping on the floor that woke him up 😂
Only messing- love older HD got a twin cam myself. Can’t stand most of the new range though I’d love the engines
I’ve owned lots of different bikes and when you find a bike you love, you sure know about it. Harley was the last brand I decided to try, and by far my favorite! They are expensive, plain on features, but give me smiles that I never had on other bikes. I now get the Harley thing…took 35 years of riding, but I’m sold. Now own a sportglide and a fatbob.
Ive got an 18 model fatbob with a stage 2 set up, you have given the best review of this bike than anybody else ..... big thumbs up from downunderland.
Like the Aztec jacket, where from Sir Freddie
I’ve ridden a couple of Harley’s and I’ve not been impressed. This morning I was chatting with a guy in a motorcycle shop that sells Japanese and KTM products. He spent $23000 on a brand new Harley and was thoroughly unimpressed with it and regretted his purchase-I sense an imminent trade in his future. For those that love ‘em knock yourself out.
I’m over 6ft tall and find that those style of bars kill my upper back after 30mins of riding. Had to part with my beloved Triumph Bobber for that very reason and moved onto the Speedmaster with its swept back beach bars, which are a dream in comparison.
How do your knees go with the bars? I sat on the speedmaster and at 6’4” my hands and the grips hit my legs. I didn’t bother asking to take it for a test ride as a result.
I basically learned to ride on a rental FatBob 114 during a two weeks (4.300km) trip through California and Nevada. Some unforgettable memories on this beast of a machine and thank god I am still alive 🙂.
Now that is a bike that will make anyone smile - beast and beefy. I got my first bike as the Indian Scout Sixty as a new rider - and this to me is probably one of two bikes from HD I could see myself riding.
I was so close to getting a scout bobber and then I rode this just yesterday. They are awesome and the torque is crazy.
It lasted longer than the Beull. You make what is profitable for the company. I think the looks are truely amazing. I would like to have the same problem of not recalling which moto I've ordered. Lol. You and Monica always bring me entertaining videos and with a splash of the moisture throw in.!! 👍👍🏍🙋♂️
You found the marigolds also, always ready to give the bike a wash.
I got an '09 Fat Bob last year. My First Harley. It came available locally and I bought it for a decent price. I am the farthest thing from a "Harley Guy", but as a former Honda & BMW owner, I must say, the Harley is the most amount of fun you can have with your clothes on!
it's a very comfortable, elegant bike and can do almost anything. It didn't quite succeed in the US but it's still one of my very favorite bikes.
HD removed it from the 2024 line up 🥺
@@saavanravindranath4578 They do that. Sometimes they discontinue really iconic bikes, like the Road King Standard.
@@michaelwhite5834 I almost bought one in December 2023 and decided to wait since I heard a rumour that HD might discontinue Fatbobs. Also I’m a new rider and I was doubtful whether I will be able to handle the bike 😅. I’m hoping that they bring it back by the time I gain some experience and save some money to buy it 🙏🏻
That is a very nice looking Harley!!!!!
The Fat Bob is a brilliant bike, quite similar to the Low Rider S when ot comes to handling which is on the good end of the Harley spectrum and i love the punch you get when you twist the throttle. This was a good one Mr Dobbs.
One of bike I have is Harley Roadster (XL1200CX) - it's not a cafe bike, nor a canyon carver, though it can be. It's what we call ripper - it's a torq machine to be thrown around town, and it's the best one in the industry. Fat Bob is a bigger version of Roadster - it has more power (with more weight), but with style and attitude of street ripper. It's what Roadster is evolved to be, with better balance of power and weight, and how all things come together - and attitude. It's a good good bike that will bring lots of smile when riding.
FAT BOB My favourite bike ❤, yes you were right, it's so compact and yet it's looks so beast. I have ride twice, it's phenomenal. Dr.Jekil & Mr. Hyde exhaust make this bike thousands times better.- from Tokyo Japan
I remember when I sold my fully restored Suzuki RE5A, the instance the buyer saw the bike for the first time as I lifted my garage door he just couldn't stop smiling from ear to ear. Think I was the same with the recent purchase of my Ducati Scrambler.
You should also try out the Harley Davison Street Bob. Very nice looking and fun Motorcycle to ride. 👍
I like it , something about a Harley that appeals to me , if I had a collection of bikes a Harley would be in there
I was actually the first owner in the UK of the 2018 Harley Fatbob, and I still am.
Love this beasty. Nothing yet has tempted me to change it for another bike.
Now you say its being discontinued makes me want to keep it more.
It handles brilliantly on the road and is very forgiving. All I will say is its a shame that Monika doesn't have the sissy bar which makes a huge difference for the pillion 😉🙏
I had a fat bob from last generation, awesome bike - I'm a bit over 6"1 and found the standard seat a bit cramped - but luckily Harley does a seat that raises you and moves you back a couple of inches - that was perfect. THis new one just looks amazing. I think it has about the most ground clearance of any Harley, which makes it fun on a back road.
Love my 2018 Fatbob 🤌 feels like a tank on wheels. I will say they are a bit industrial in a way but the Fatbob in particular feels like a leap forward compared to the typical Harley you might have in mind. It’s certainly a bike that evokes a feeling in comparison to some other types of bikes loaded with technology.
I'm not a big Harley fan but has to say that is a stunning bike and sounds amazing
Lookin forward to seeing whats coming up in your next vids and more of this bike 👍
I like that it is not loud. Beautiful machine!!!🆒😎👍!
Freddie, nice looking bike, reminiscent of the XR1000. The riding triangle looks odd with the forward controls. I’d need the bars further back. I’d dump the number plate bracket entirely and mount a smaller plate under the mudguard.
I love when you check out a new bike. Your quick reviews are perfect.
Good looking bike Freddie, i had the streetbob at 61yo bad knee's gave it to my son & got a Re Hunter love it.
I owned a 2014 103ci DYNA Fat Bob put a screen on it and toured all over the UK)and Europe including a ride over the Alps and it never missed a beat awesome!
All the guages are on the tank, so you have to take your eyes off the road to look at the damn thing, it isn't in your eye line.
I have 2017 Harley 883 iron and it’s got V&H full system and a commander EFI unit last of the Evolution great little thing
Ignore the hate - that’s a beautiful machine
Nice One Enjoy Ride safe.👌🇳🇱
Now that was a bike that surprised me when I rode it, it's a beast! Handles so well, short wheelbase and steep head angle. I suspect I'd have acquired points quickly on that thing as it encourages bad behaviour 😁
Fred, I was surprised by the Tyres. they are duel purpose if I'm not mistaken, I have a similar pair on my KTM1290 Super Adventure S, Mine are 70% road and 30% off road. which means gravel tracks and light off road will work wonders on the Harley. A really nice bike though, but I think you really need to try the Goldwing out.. Keep up the great Videos Fred & Monika, a great team,,
Great video Freddie , just brought a 23 sport glide , love it , best bike I’ve ever owned so handy with the panniers ..love your videos, keep it up , cheers , Danny from Australia..
Looks great. Admittedly, a bit pricey. But the end goal is happiness and gotta love what you ride and ride what you love.
Does the UK still get the Sport Glide? It was gone from the USA before other markets. It never had more than the 107 ci.
Very cool contemporary take by HD and sorry to hear they'll be dropping it as I think the more modern and aggressive style of late is right on the money for Harley but I guess their home market may feel differently. She's a looker but those indicators, especially up front...and the licence plate hanger...get em binned asap and put some sticky tires on it to replace that odd almost off road styling tred on the stock. Looking forward to your thoughts on this and perhaps you can chat with Indian about trying a new Scout 101 and the Sport Chief...These modern American sports cruisers are an interesting alternative to the Euro sports classics (R12 Nine T, Speed Twin etc...) and it'd be interesting to know how they compare....enjoy!
Perfect watch for Saturday morning.
So the Rocket weighs about the same but has near enough twice the power. Also has decent brakes. Doesn't make the potato-potato noise though.
So £8,000 cheaper and you get a better sound.
So the Honda NT1100 has better ergos, lower mass, literally half the price, an automatic gearbox, and fantastic brakes. Also doesn't make the potato-potato noise.
@@MKlukowski Some people want to sit on something shiny and make a lot of noise. They think the people looking at them are admiring them.
@@davidellis2021That sums up about 95% of motorbike riders. The other 5% are lying to themselves.
Hi Freddie. i had the 2019 Fat bob 114. what a difference in price. then it was £16100, so it has gone up by £3k. i must admit i loved it. i had a stage one put on it and new exhaust. a fairing and cruise control. my issue was the cost of servicing it was expensive. i also had a Tiger900 gt pro and ended up riding the tiger more, so it was pointless keeping it. Brilliant bike though and a joy to ride. after an hour though you did need to get off and get the feeling back in you backside and legs.
Freddie it’s the same as the sport glide, discontinued in the U.S. some years ago but still available for European market (as they’ve moved production to Thailand)
My guess is, same as the Sport Glide we will still have this model for years to come.
Why HD decided to move production to Thailand for the European market and eastern world is beyond me. No probs with build quality etc but it’s an American bike you expect to be American built.
I’m guessing the import taxes for the U.S. market now with the bikes being built outside the U.S. is the real reason they’re stopping these (and the Sport Glide) there?
Great looking bike, I'm not a huge fan of the big touring style Harleys, but this one is awesome. Have any Roberts took offence of the "Fat Bob" name😂
Always wanted to try one of these 😊
I like that shirt of yours .
How did you find viewing your speed on that small display especially in London where there are cameras everywhere
Belt drive no messy oily chain sets. Looks a premium motorcycle, shame its going to be discontinued.
I struggle to remember things, too. I ordered an Opel Corsa and thought I had ordered a Fiat Panda 4x4, I wasn’t sure it may have been a Land Rover instead so I was totally confused when the Suzuki Jimney arrived.
That harley is a gold nugget compared to a bonneville, even more so a broken one.
I just can't unsee how that handlebar looks exactly like the ones they sell at my local mountainbike shop.
But yea they've stoped selling the fatbob. They stoped the sportster too. and they had a pres conference where they were pushing for the bloody trike as their intended segment for the future!
Spite made a few videos on the subject last year. They are making some very strange decissions.
Wow what could be better a road trip to Cornwall on a fat bob, the Wild West meets the Wild West. I am green with envy. So appropriate.
Which boots are you wearing in this one Freddie?
Beautiful bike Freddie! Nothing else on the road in UK looks this good , take a look at the new line of 2024 Indian scouts they should be heading your way soon👍😊
Good to see you both back safely and I'm not sure harley build a stripped back bike, it's more as cheap as possible for them. I think most harleys are short, the exception being the Breakout. I've had two softails and always thought them small bikes. Great video
I have that same tank on my streetbob, man that 3.5 gallon tank goes to fast. Miss the old 5 gallon tank on my last one. I guess at least it’s a cheap fill up
Great bike can’t wait for the road trip enjoy!
Thanks Rob!
The start up was ok but we really needed a drive by sound check, Freddie. Nothing sounds like a Harley!
Looks like it would handle well.
Own a 2018 fatbob but just lately been drawn to the classic looks of low rider s. May hang on to it for just a bit longer now due to be discontinued
Beautiful bike!
It was my first love and still love this bike
Wow, looks really cool and massive. Only the straight handlebar I don’t think like
Is the engine air cooled or liquid cooled?
Got to try the Breakout 117
Great shout🔥
Freddie where did you get that southwestern style overshirt from?
I’ve ridden a number of Harley’s never enjoyed any of them a lot of money for low tech and questionable quality, but if it puts a smile on your face that’s all that matters.
I bought one of these new in 2008. - for the cool factor - loved it - long gone however.
Pretty much agree with you on all fronts, Freddie. It's a nice looking bike, with almost disperate styling.
How did Monika feel about the pillion seat? Looks small and uncomfortable but I guess the proof of the pudding is in the eating.
Nice. I love the look of new harleys, I just hate the price tag
This bike didn't get the love it deserved. Absolute beauty.
05:03 This is why I am here 😂😂🤣🤣
Great video as always . It's a brute that's for sure and a sense of occasion is guaranteed every time you ride or even look at it !
So, a big prominent tach, that you have to look down to see, for a1900cc HD. Very new with the newness.......lol
It‘ll be interesting to discover the touring qualities of the Fat Bob - fuel range? - comfort? Luggage? when you ride to Cornwall. Looking forward to seeing that….😉
2010 I bought a new Harley Davidson DYNA Street bob. 1.6 litre for Europe only. But when I went to the USA all the dealers were selling them. It’s a little like your Harley. All that happens is they stop a model then bring out a new version. What else can they do.
Hey up Freddie, it does look cool but not great for Monica's bum. I've just decided to swap my 350 classic for a new Honda ADV350. Have a look at them, a very versatile bike! Enjoyed watching your last adventure 👍
“Say, that’s a nice bike”.. 🙂
It's really a shame that MoCo is discontinuing it. I was on a 117 c.u.i. version hoped. But let us surprise ourselves.
I've been driving mine since 2018 and changed the tires to Metzeler. If you drive on wet roads, the Dunlop are very slippery. The kickstand should be viewed with caution. Not that your bike falls over. The mirror arms are too short. Longer ones have to be done. A quickly changeable luggage rack is recommended.
I also changed the silencer and camshaft because I wanted more power (J&H + Stage II torque cam). Now 44,000 kilometers and drive back and forth in Andalusia and Germany :)
th-cam.com/video/4Gc9vn-h0Jw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=W1TlI-jIojCapOVZ
I cant believe they cancelled this bike in the US. Such a bad ass bike.
What a morning! Just back from lovely 2 hour ride. Made a big cup of tea and Dobbie drops video 😊👌
