The problem I had with the 3-4 episodes of this anime when I watched them is that it felt like the anime wasn't engaging enough. Over the span of those episodes I can now see from getting the and playing the game that they rushed things to much. They skipped over all the information you'd get when beating kamoshida in the game and you learn next to nothing of the impact it did to everybody. Not to mention when I was watching the anime I had never played the game, yet my question was still "Why didn't I get to see what happened to kamoshida?" They made me not to want to watch it anymore so I stopped and got the game that was on sale for 20 bucks on the ps store, perfect opportunity!
Unless a show offends me on the personal level, I tend to give it 5 or 6 episodes before deciding if I wanna continue. That's usually enough time for the first arc to wrap up.
The main problem with Persona 5 the animation is the direction. Part 4 had good direction with bad character art. Persona 5 the animation has bad direction and animation with good character art. Blu-Ray can only help character art.
At all the responses that I saw, this is defenely the best. It was so entratament(with high quality as well great pick of clips to show of examples) and I defenly agreed with your arguments.Personally I thought that the anime was all right.It defenely got a rought start , but it to improved a lot (not in a mind blow) and I always had a great time to watch.There some flaws but it's good in a way. I feel like that guy sits on this throne he made for himself and comes off like he’s the all knowing and never wrong anime critic and that everyone else’s opinion is below his own. I’ve given many of his videos a chance but they always leave me with a bad taste in the mouth.

there is also this little argument: not everyone has enough time to play games, much less a hundred hour long RPG with a combat system they may not (i personally don't like turn-based RPG's), so an anime adaption is likely their best bet to enjoy a story they hear is amazing, but don't have time to play. and if you look up people who turn games into movies- take cutscenes and important gameplay bits and mash them like they're a movie; for example, YIC17 and Gamer's Little Playground- Persona 5, just on story content alone, clocks in at around 65 hours.
Persona 4 the anime was gold. (No pun attended.) But when the argument is brung up on P5 anime its simply trying to catch lighting in bottle on a sequel to a well beloved franchise with a budget of 25$ and 10 of that was the lead animator's laundry budget. The reason why the p5 anime went under people noises is because of its unappealing visuals. Yes design matters but on a deeper analyst, its the lowest of the totem pole. Narratively, action and caracter wise P5 the anime is probably great. But its visual view didn't "promise". That's.....all. P.S. Mother Basement doesn't know what the hell he's talking about! "Why look at the anime when you can play the game." Uh ..because Persona has always been a narrative piece and a tv show helps illustrate and emphasis. And that hasn't stop people before with the p3 movies and the p4 anime.
I've been watching Persona 5 The Animation and I LOVE it though I haven't gotten the chance to actually play Persona 5 since my brother is almost always playing the ps4 so I can't really compare them however I usually dont compare Adaptations/Remakes of anything mainly because I like to see what merits it has over the original so that particularly is why this video really pissed me off
You compared them anyway because in order to see what merits it has over the original you'd have to be familiar with both to notice what's good and what's bad
I disliked the anime as it dumbed down the game. By the way, Joker's whole existence in the anime is a problem, as the anime would have been better without him. The anime that, you know, HAS NO PLAYER WHOM JOKER IS A SELF-INSERT FOR!
Akira Kurusu, Ren Amamiya, he deserved none of those names. Because the anime needed to AXE him. Joker is a player insert, in an anime, that by its very nature HAS NO PLAYER! That doesn't make sense. It would have been better to have the protagonist be an actual character and Joker not present at all.

Not to mention, the story can make sense if you axe him and rewrite a few things, for instance: make Yusuke or Makoto, or even Haru since she lacks story presence, the one who has attacked Shido and is taken in by Sojiro, and only have them awaken in their respective arcs while only Ryuji and Morgana fight in Kamoshida's.

Hey Metalblade I thought since you don’t have videos to response to. I thought “Which Smash Character Waited the Longest” by Kotaku can make for a good response video. Dusk Art i think youre thinking of Perosna Q , there is no persona 3, 4 or 5 games in the 3ds. Theres no Danganronpa on The 3ds either but you can buy that game from Steam and play it on PC.

Joker is not a character, he represents the player, so Persona 5 Royal's anime adaptation, which has no player, needs to rewrite the plot so that it can be done by the actual characters and doesn't include the player himself. Other shortcomings of the anime were caused by the team's trying to keep game mechanics in it even if they aren't appropriate to the anime medium. How this anime adaptation needs to be done to be good: Joker does not exist. Joker's traits are split between Yusuke (he got transferred from Kosei to Shujin, he assaulted Shido and attempted to murder him, he's taken by Sojiro, he enters Kamoshida's Palace alongside Ryuji, he takes Morgana at Leblanc) and Makoto (she's the leader of the Phantom Thieves, she knows Goro was behind everything). Joker's design is taken by a nameless and non-speaking recurring cameo character at Shujin whom the PTs never actually interact with. Kaneshiro's arc happens before Madarame: Makoto is met earlier to "officially found" the phantom thieves. Yusuke is already following Ryuji and Morgana in Kamoshida's Palace but is a noncombatant navigator/strategist until Madarame's arc. Yusuke has a new character arc, having both Madarame and Shido as nemeses. Since he was raised by Madarame, he started developing a psychological complex that made him fanatically obsessed with beauty, art, nature and purity (and also being a Shinto fundamentalist), to the point of being a sociopath with "those that do not appreciate true beauty". After seeing Shido rape the woman, he willingly attempts to kill him, calling him "an impure petty tyrant drunk with power, which only death can redeem". He's taken by Sojiro not because he's innocent, but because Sojiro knows Yusuke has a mental disorder, and he wants to take in mentally disturbed people because he feels he has failed Futaba. His two palaces have him deal with both Madarame's abuse (Madarame) and Yusuke's own sociopathy (Shido). The Velvet Room appears in dreams to Yusuke and Ryuji (and later to anyone who joins the PT). No mention is made of the Wild Card, as now Yusuke is Emperor and Goro is Justice (no one is Fool). Yusuke loses focus until the Palace exploration, as he willingly goes to a psychiatric clinic for rehab (instead of a juvenile hall), then follows his game counterpart. Persona fights are animated this way: the Persona stays out and damage to a persona is transmitted to the user (like Stands in JoJo). The protagonists have no weapon or gun in the real world but their Persona can transform into a weapon (a shotgun for Ryuji, a submachine gun for Ann, a katana for Yusuke, a slingshot for Morgana, a gun for Makoto, a sniper rifle for Futaba, an axe for Haru, a laser gun for Goro). Futaba's ultimate Persona Prometheus can fight, even though Necronomicon can't. The title is not "Persona 5 the Animation", but "An Emperor Among Phantom Thieves", without the Persona name in it (because Persona game mechanics are taken off, and it doesn't follow the game series's traditions). Some characters are fully written off the plot, like Iwai (since there are no weapons), Ohya (already of minimal importance in the game), Chihaya (voice actor died and already of minimal importance in the game) and non-Yaldabaoth Igor (the voice actor died. Yaldabaoth has killed and replaced Igor, and he's replaced by Lavenza at the end, with Lavenza's fusion being actually caused by Igor). Other non-party SL are done by various party members, such as Ryuji that does Kawakami, Yusuke does Hifumi, etc. Some characters, like Caroline and Justine, exist but have their SL taken off (in the twins' case, it focuses on Fusion, which is a mechanic that cannot be adapted in Anime form). Yusuke and Makoto do not receive the World Arcana. The World is Maruki's Arcana instead of the non-existing Councillor, while Kasumi is the Fool. The "Cognitive Protagonist" can't work with Makoto as the PT leader, as Sae has a Cognition of Makoto which looks different than her human self. The Cognitive Protagonist gambit is replaced by Futaba altering her appearance through Necronomicon to resemble Makoto and get killed off (for real) in place of Makoto herself. Like Ryuji, Futaba is resurrected by Maruki as a Cognition, though she, like him, is dispelled from existence after the ending. Like Ryuji, Futaba's Ultimate Persona only appears as a boss, used by the Cognitive Futaba (or it appears in Sae's Palace to create Makoto's skin around Futaba, but still never fights directly until the Cognitive Futaba uses it). The final Palace (Maruki) has the party splitting: Makoto, Goro and Kasumi fight Maruki, while Yusuke duels the Cognitive Futaba (which he sees as repairing the damage he committed) and Ann and Morgana defeat Cognitive Ryuji. To those who want Joker to stay, why? Other than fanservice, what would Joker do if he stayed in the anime? Nothing that another character couldn't do by taking his few traits and incorporating them into his new characterization. Remember that to make a good anime you sometimes need to take liberties from the source material. And completely writing off a silent and/or weakly characterized protagonist is the most important liberty to take, as it shows that the anime exist independent from the game and the player playing it P5 was adapted into a fanservice-heavy trainwreck of an anime faithful to the game. P5R and subsequent games need to be adapted into good anime that break off from the game!
The anime is terrible, yet enjoyable like a guilty pleasure yet in all honesty... The pacing was so out of place for me and how they went to the scenes and how they went with the story and character from what I've seen was not good and I just don't like P5 the animation for that... SO I RECOMMEND THEY START OVER WITH P5 ROYAL!!!

@@Peasham No, it has nothing to do with popularity. Persona 5 was there because it deserved. Celeste isn't a famous game, but was on the list of the GOTY of 2018.

There is no objective standard to a game "deserving" to be in the GOTY, it is literally all based off of popularity, the hell are you talking about? Also, Celeste is pretty famous for an indie game. From what I've read, we're talking half a million copies sold. Add to that everyone praising the shit out of it, and it's no wonder it's on the list.

I was very disappointed in the persona 5 anime, not only because I like persona 5, but because the persona 4 anime was really good.

The protagonists have no weapon or gun in the real world but their Persona can transform into a weapon (a shotgun for Ryuji, a submachine gun for Ann, a katana for Yusuke, a slingshot for Morgana, a gun for Makoto, a sniper rifle for Futaba, an axe for Haru, a laser gun for Goro). Futaba's ultimate Persona Prometheus can fight, even though Necronomicon can't.
The title is not "Persona 5 the Animation", but "An Emperor Among Phantom Thieves", without the Persona name in it (because Persona game mechanics are taken off, and it doesn't follow the game series's traditions).
Some characters are fully written off the plot, like Iwai (since there are no weapons), Ohya (already of minimal importance in the game), Chihaya (voice actor died and already of minimal importance in the game) and non-Yaldabaoth Igor (the voice actor died. Yaldabaoth has killed and replaced Igor, and he's replaced by Lavenza at the end, with Lavenza's fusion being actually caused by Igor). Other non-party SL are done by various party members, such as Ryuji that does Kawakami, Yusuke does Hifumi, etc. Some characters, like Caroline and Justine, exist but have their SL taken off (in the twins' case, it focuses on Fusion, which is a mechanic that cannot be adapted in Anime form).
Yusuke and Makoto do not receive the World Arcana. The World is Maruki's Arcana instead of the non-existing Councillor, while Kasumi is the Fool.
The "Cognitive Protagonist" can't work with Makoto as the PT leader, as Sae has a Cognition of Makoto which looks different than her human self. The Cognitive Protagonist gambit is replaced by Futaba altering her appearance through Necronomicon to resemble Makoto and get killed off (for real) in place of Makoto herself. Like Ryuji, Futaba is resurrected by Maruki as a Cognition, though she, like him, is dispelled from existence after the ending. Like Ryuji, Futaba's Ultimate Persona only appears as a boss, used by the Cognitive Futaba (or it appears in Sae's Palace to create Makoto's skin around Futaba, but still never fights directly until the Cognitive Futaba uses it).
The final Palace (Maruki) has the party splitting: Makoto, Goro and Kasumi fight Maruki, while Yusuke duels the Cognitive Futaba (which he sees as repairing the damage he committed) and Ann and Morgana defeat Cognitive Ryuji.
To those who want Joker to stay, why?
Other than fanservice, what would Joker do if he stayed in the anime? Nothing that another character couldn't do by taking his few traits and incorporating them into his new characterization.
Remember that to make a good anime you sometimes need to take liberties from the source material. And completely writing off a silent and/or weakly characterized protagonist is the most important liberty to take, as it shows that the anime exist independent from the game and the player playing it
P5 was adapted into a fanservice-heavy trainwreck of an anime faithful to the game. P5R and subsequent games need to be adapted into good anime that break off from the game!

The anime is terrible, yet enjoyable like a guilty pleasure yet in all honesty... The pacing was so out of place for me and how they went to the scenes and how they went with the story and character from what I've seen was not good and I just don't like P5 the animation for that... SO I RECOMMEND THEY START OVER WITH P5 ROYAL!!!
I guess that's what happens when you quickly release a video when you've only seen 3 episodes.

Persona 5's CGI is terrible
After P5 itself being not very good, I can't say I cared about the anime much either.

@@Peasham No, it has nothing to do with popularity. Persona 5 was there because it deserved. Celeste isn't a famous game, but was on the list of the GOTY of 2018.

Also, Celeste is pretty famous for an indie game. From what I've read, we're talking half a million copies sold. Add to that everyone praising the shit out of it, and it's no wonder it's on the list.
