    Great video. I have the oracle touch so will check the grinding setting , but one quesrion that one also has the option to change the amount of water poured, What is the optimal setting?

    • @ecscoffeeinc
      @ecscoffeeinc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi David! You should be pouring a 2oz double shot of espresso in 26-31 seconds (depending on your taste). We would suggest that you leave the amount of water at factory settings, if your grind size is right it will pour the proper amount of water in the proper amount of time :)
      Thank you for watching, and happy brewing!

    This was a great video! I want to purchase an espresso machine. I am undecided between the Breville Oracle and the Breville Pro. Which if these two would you recommend more and are the Breville machines well made? Thank you so much.

    • @ecscoffeeinc
      @ecscoffeeinc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Breville is a great mid market brand that really has done a great job bringing convenience features to manual machines. The Oracle is for someone that really wants to do the optics of the drink, but the machine can do all the work. You just look like a pro. The Breville Pro requires a bit more skill but it comes pretty quickly. You cannot go wrong.

  • @kilabytez
    @kilabytez ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video thanks! On the oracle machines I noticed you adjust the runs while it is grinding, is this the recommended way to make your adjustments? Do you find it allows the grinder to better adjust and stay adjusted to that setting?

    • @ecscoffeeinc
      @ecscoffeeinc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Adjusting the grind size while the grinder is running reduces the risk of clogging the grinder, or damaging the burrs, it is like changing the gears on a bike while moving vs not :)

      @@ecscoffeeinc thanks! So you find with the Oracle touch that every time you turn it on the grind number changes? Or that the grind knob turns don't match the amount the number changes ?

    • @ecscoffeeinc
      @ecscoffeeinc  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kilabytez If you are using the same bean you will not have to adjust your grind size every time you use the machine. This is a step-less grinder, so you cannot feel the grinder changing, you can only know by the number on the screen :)

    Wendy! Thanks so much for the very informative video! I'm new to home espresso making, and the machine (new) I own currently is not a Breville, but I have learned so much about dialing in. To my brain the finer the coffee grind, the more it should flow, but apparently that is not the case. Anyways, I hope to level up to a better machine when my budget allows (starving artist here, lol)... mine only works with a proprietary portafilter and a pressurized basket--very limiting, but I knew nothing before I purchased it (live and learn). Anyways, thanks again!!! I'm a fan!

  • @xpinkmartini
    @xpinkmartini 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So what was the grind size for the espresso?

    • @twiggyinc1
      @twiggyinc1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The grind size is just a number. So for the Barista Pro is has an internal burr number and then grind size. So for example for my machine with a certain basket and coffee mass I have Burr Size 3 and Grind Size 4-6 but if I had more coffee then I would have to raise (more coarser) as there is more coffee to push through and a better quality basket could lower it.
      How I dial in is I weigh the ground coffee, run through the machine (in manual mode so it doesn't stop) and time how long it takes to double the weighed coffee. So for example a 17g ground coffee would go up to 34g of espresso. If it comes through less than 25secs I make the grind finer and if it is over 35 secs then I grind coarser. But ideally you want to keep the coffee amount, tamping and brew pressure (all the other variables) constant until you get coffee within the window and it is pretty reliable to get good tasting espresso.

      @@twiggyinc1do you know if the brew pressure changes depending on the grind size? I have an impress but am thinking about changing to a pro. My pressure gauge doesn't go up at all if my grinds are too small then I change them to a bigger grind and it goes too fast I can't find a good middle ground and it's driving me nuts.

    I can't decide between the barista pro and the barista touch..the touch is in discount right now...making it 400$ more than the pro. Does the screen worth that?

    • @ecscoffeeinc
      @ecscoffeeinc  ปีที่แล้ว

      You also have to consider the steam wand! The Barista pro has a much more professional style steam wand, and the barista touch has an automatic steam wand. The Barista pro will give you more control, the Barista pro is more automatic :)

    Hi, great video. In your honest opinion, which machine do you recommend most, the Pro or the Touch?
    I just purchased the Pro and the Touch a couple of days ago because I'm so torn on which to keep. I like how the Pro looks much sleeker and has a more upgraded feel/look to it as in the design, knobs etc co.pared to the Touch side-by-side. I've been trying to dail in the Pro and have been STRUGGLING to get it right.😢 I'm so frustrated! I can't get it to the 30-second mark for the life of me. I tried grind size from 4 all the up to 16, and it's never right with each try, weighing 18 grams of beans. The espresso is awful. My conclusion is that the beans I'm using are not fresh enough. I bought them from a local organic store that u bag your own beans. That has to be the issue. I've watched tons of videos on how to dail in, and I'm so sad I can't get it. Tomorrow, I'll try the Touch and see if that machine is easier to dail in 😕
    Hopefully, I can find a store that sells fresh roasted coffee. And see if that helps. The trails I've done have tasted bad and barely have any crema. I never thought it would be complex and difficult to have my own espresso machine.
    Based of the research I've done, the pro and touch should give the same espresso quality. Which do you like better? I want to be good at this. My wife is now teasing me and says we should just the Nespresso machine with the pods.. 🙄

    • @ecscoffeeinc
      @ecscoffeeinc  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think Wendy (The person in this video) preferrs the Pro. I prefer the touch (I'm the camera guy) simply because I like touchscreens... No other reason in particular haha. Trying a good quality bean is definately a good starting point. Get a somewhat freshly roasted sealed espresso bean. If you currently get them from a store where people can openly bag their own, chances are they aren't stored properly and sealed in the store. If your shots keep coming out too fast, ensure that you make your grind size smaller and make sure you're applying a good amount of pressure when you're tamping. Also make sure you've got a good amount of grounds in your portafilter. If you go to 19:13 in the video you'll see a rough look at what a good amount looks like. If you're still having issues, try more than 18 grams of beans and experiment until you get something good. At the end of the say the 'Prefect' specifications you see online will never line up precicely with your machine. You may need to try different grind sizes and ammounts than what you would see influencers use online to find what you like best.
      PS. Keep in mind than some retailers will not accept machine returns if the machine is used and has no manufacturer defects. So if you haven't opened the Touch yet, I'd definately stick with the Pro. It'll save you from being stuck with two machines if the retailer doesn't accept the return. If you're in Ontario Canada, feel free to come by one of our stores and we can help you out in person. We can help walk you through the steps of dialing in your machine on one of our demo models.
      Best of luck!

    no one talks about the difference in brewing time between 9 bar vs 15 bar pressure. on a 15 bar pressure machine you cannot obtain 25-30 seconds , it doesn't matter how fine you grind the coffee .i guess you can obtain 30 sec for a double and ending with 60 ml of coffee
