Thank you :) I’m always most critical about my paintings immediately after I’ve finished them. After a while I start to appreciate them a little more! 🙂
Beautiful, I really enjoyed watching you as I to am building myself up to do some plain air but wouldn't been keen on being watched by passers by either, You have encouraged me to to find a quiet spot and have a go . Thank you .❤
I’m so glad you enjoyed the video ☺️ it was daunting doing a plein air painting for the first time but I’m glad I did it! I’m waiting for the spring to arrive so I can get back outside painting! :) Thanks for watching 😊
Amazing piece, Rachel. I really enjoyed watching you and listening to you as you paint.. The number one thing and you got it right, are the colors. Can't wait to watch more of your videos!
I totally get everything you are saying Rachel! I am also just about to begin plein air artwork and will be filming it for my channel. I'm in NSW, Australia. Once we can get past our fears and immerse ourselves in nature it can be very healing. I love being in Nature by myself. Please make sure that you let someone at home know where you think you'll be painting. If you are late arriving back at least they will know where to look. Years ago, I used to go exploring down rural dirt roads (looking for new scenery) and occasionally got my vehicle stuck. Only some of the Roadside Assistance organisations will have 4wd rescue vehicles to haul you back out onto bitumen. I have been bitten by a snake (3 days of agony) so wear gum boots (wellies) or leather boots and I once had a naughty farmer shoot at me. I've met wonderful people too. Life can be an adventurous journey filled with delight. You will also be able to receive energy codes from the land and can be a catalyst for healing locations that need it (simply by your presence there). Your body's intuition will develop rapidly when you are out in nature as you will be alert and fully present in each new location. Your studio artwork has helped to create a good foundation for your new adventures. May I asked what you were filming with? A mobile phone or a camera such as a GoPro? oh, and special note to all of the thousands of viewer...... please hit the like button! It's the only way the algorithms will move us up the list so that our videos get seen.
Hi, thanks so much for taking the time to watch this and comment 🙂 It sounds like you’ve had quite a lot to contend with on your explorations so far! We don’t get so many snakes here but I still try and wear good footwear for my excursions. It’s so lovely being out in nature. I hope to do a lot more of these landscape paintings outdoors. I’m looking forward to seeing your plein air adventures in future. I use my phone to film at the moment. It does the job for now but eventually I’ll invest in a camera and a more professional microphone! Thanks again for watching :)
Lovely video Rachel, every word you spoke struck a chord with me! I got a french easel this year but only managed to paint plein air a couple of times (long story) but am raring to go come the spring :)
Thanks so much for watching :) I’m glad you enjoyed the video. It took me ages to build up to doing a plein air painting but I’m hoping to carry on in the spring! It’s a little too wild out there at the moment for me! Good luck with your painting! 😊
Well done ! .. it takes a lot of courage to get out there and set up. I tried it here in Ireland a few times but the problem with Ireland is no matter how secluded a place you think you've found, as soon as you go to paint, somebody shows up ! They'll either hover around in front maybe thinking you'll add them in the painting, or creep around somewhere behind you. I remember I set up to paint a watercolour on Bray head. A hiking girl appeared below and passed.. I got on with painting... Ten minutes later I realised she was creeping around up in the rocks behind me ! 😅
😂 there was no one creeping around on this one but I was strategically balanced on the hillside so it would have been difficult. But I shall bear this in mind for future paintings 😂
Just found you YT video of your first En Plien Air painting experience and want to say bravo. May I suggest that you take a dog with you, as they can be a first warning sign of any problems. Loved what you painted. Brilliant video. Take care abd God bless you.😊
Thanks so much for watching :) I’m glad you enjoyed it. Good idea! My dog comes on most trips with me so I’m sure he wouldn’t mind tagging along next time 🙂
Hi Rachel. Just found your channel. Im an artist in Tasmania, originally from UK. Love your work and yes plein air is daunting LOL. Just remember most people cant paint so are usually impressed with our efforts even if not great. And mostly people will be very encouraging when they stop and chat. Take a small photo album of your good work to show them, especially pet portraits as this can lead to work!! Take some business cards with you and look upon it as a painting day and advertising-your- work day too. All helps to becoming a professional artist. Keep it up. Kind Regards Graham
Hi Graham, thanks so much for watching and for your helpful comment! I hadn’t thought of that, but business cards and a small portfolio sounds like a great idea. I’ll bear that in mind for my next plein air painting 😊
I loved the names of the different wildlife you knew and showed us
Thank you! 😊 I love wildlife! I’m glad you enjoyed it :)
As a landscape artist I enjoyed watching you paint. I am lucky enough to get out on Dartmoor here in England
Thank you for watching :) Dartmoor must be lovely to paint!
Beautiful Impressionistic landscape! Working with a green landscape can be so challenging, but you pulled this off wonderfully!
Thank you! All that green was definitely tricky!
For me, ( my humble opinion 😁 ) the foreground looks perfect as it is, it doesn't look too green at all.
Thank you :) I’m always most critical about my paintings immediately after I’ve finished them. After a while I start to appreciate them a little more! 🙂
It’s really lovely painting. Painting plein air is the very best feeling.
