We have been talking about this trip for quite some time and finally the date came to depart. I filmed 5 days of this 10 day adventure and I hope you enjoy coming along with us.

2 XJ's parked together camping in the woods, in Sweden??? That would be a rare sight to see even in the US of A. Also nice job being able to find a friend to do stuff with you. Making new friends as you get older isnt always an easy thing to do.
Meeting new friends as an adult isnt easy to be fair and I don't have too many these days. Ivo is a good guy. Yeah its always surprising for me when or if I pass one, especially when it looks equipped for a camp.
That was a great video.
Like a diesel powered Brokeback Mountain.
Haha thanks for watching. Fending off Ivos advances did get tough. Good job it was only ten days, I might have caved.
Finding Gollum down a mine after all those mushrooms isn't that surprising really. 😉
Thanks for taking us along.
😅
Nothing like having a buddy there to inspire you to do silly things like night time river crossing!😂
1 hour is fantastic but still i want more ..........lol
Haha, thanks for watching!
Tell your pal to look into a nanocom for his TD5. Never leave home without it!
That crossing in the night it was funny but dangerous as well
Hey Mike! As usual, I absolutely love your videos.
I had a bit of a suggestion for you. I’ve noticed that in most of your camp videos where you cook, one of your staples is rice. My wife is Brazilian, and her rice is the best I’ve ever tasted. I thought I’d let you in on a simple trick that may enhance the flavor of your rice significantly.
Instead of adding the rice to the water in your cook surface and letting it cook, first try this.
Add a small bit of oil to the pan, dice 2-3 cloves of garlic, add the garlic and also add the rice to the oil for just 20-30 seconds- and stir. You are essentially crisping the rice for just a minute with the garlic. Then add the water and cook as you normally do. I believe you’ll want to use Jasmine rice but this is less important than the quick fry technique.
Once I learned to do this, I have never simply boiled rice the old way again.
Any way. Take it or leave it, but I think you’ll probably like it.
Big love

Lucky bugger - what a beautiful place
Awesome! I was doing some chores this morning wishing I had a new vid of yours to watch...prayer answered! Hope you are well, God bless 🙏
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it!
Wow! MSR heat Exchanger. I havent seen any vlog using this,.got mine since the 1990s with my XGK2. Nostalgic.❤
Great timing for this video, got Saturday night sorted now!
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it!
I for sure thought you’d touch the hot dog tips to each other. Glad I’m following such a mature and responsible channel. Love this video, love the length. (Video not hot dog). Thanks Mike
There were a few moments, but between Dilldo Baggins and Gollum, I just don't have a change. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it!
33:21 when you laugh so hard at a friends misfortune you have to walk off and compose yourself 😂
😂 That's too funny
Loving this trip - almost thought you lost your humor. But then at the end. There it was - watch p..hub 😂😂😂
Cherokee XJ owners, share your experiences with this iconic vehicle!
33:20 was awesome haha.
That was so funny. I couldn't keep it together, I'm the worst spotter because I just crack up as soon as things begin going wrong.
Mike the mushroom guy. What a great variety. Looks like a awesome trip. Cheers from B.C. Canada.
Haha, I do get a bit excited over a mushroom. Once upon a time I was in a club.... I know nerdy, but I did learn a lot from others and I'm still alive.
Thanks for watching!
Riddles in the dark..... or some fresh fish haha. Seriously good documentary though, really enjoyed it from start to finish.
Haha, good job Ivo "unlocked" the door to the mine. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it!
really enjoyed this whole vid!! what are the spec of evo's landy? engine n gearbox wise?
@@Ivo.Outdoor awesome dude. You should do a walk around or tour vid of it either on your own channel or with Mike on his
This is not the usual sunday drive 😀 Great adventure and storytelling 👍🏻
good vid no dogman
Really enjoy your content mate! I dreamt of doing this with my XJ in Virginia, USA & then found your channel. PS: Slice some bananas into those pancakes!
That was an hour well spent. When you get two blokes talking tyre sizes and PornHub without a mention of a Tesla then, you know you're in the right place.
Haha, was a good trip and glad you enjoyed it. Interestingly that mine up north, they just found some important material for rechargeable batteries. Maybe cobalt? I'm not sure but it might be a crator one day, but it will an environmentally friendly crator so its okay I guess.
@@WorkshoptoWilderness Cadmium possibly. I had just finished watching HAZE prior to your video and as soon as I saw that clear cold water in the Mine, I was thinking that that mad Barsteward would've been diving down those ladders.
Cool The algorithm worked well and made me coming across this absolutely perfect video. Thanks and well done!
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it!
Great adventure. Enjoyed it much. I had an XJ my friend gave me. It was a 84 with a four cylinder. I restored the drive rain myself as it was sitting for about 10 years.
When I married my wife in 2012 she asked what I was going to do with that old Jeep. I knew then its days were numbered. Wish I still had it.
Yep, awake for the end! 🙌🏼
It seems you and Evo have a great bond, hope you stick together.
Hes a nice guy, its just really hard to listen to him with bigfoot at night...
great video fellas
Glad you enjoyed it!
19:20 a rare sight of a Land Rover owner with their bonnet open! I kid, another great video. There’s so much out there if you’re willing to go out and look for it
Great trip Mike & Ivo love the country and good to see a Disco along. If Ivo puts a 2” lift and some good tyres (plus a OB11 reader) he will go anywhere👍
His next upgrade is a small lift and slightly larger tire I think. Should make the world of difference.
Thanks for watching!
Suuuuuuuuuuuuch a legendary road trip! As a professional video editor myself (Skydive company) we always feel like we need "The shot" or we are missing content. Take a trip and only take 2 photos a day. Because between drone shots and all, its a LOT of mental time. I really take a trip JUST for me every now and then. I have an XJ with 388k miles, and with out a drought you have the most functional jeep on the web. Cheers from the Grand Canyon state of Arizona!

Great trip, Mike! Thanks for bringing us along for the adventure. Those were some pretty sketchy trails you guys were on. Much more of a risk taker than I would have been in a few of those spots. Hope your trip back home went smoothly and you are able to troubleshoot your steering wheel issue. Looking forward to your next project or adventure!
Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah there were a few sketchy trails in the middle at night. Not sure how I felt about some of those as things can quickly go wrong. A reminder to not drive at night an just settle down if its late in the day.
The trip home was very chill, some nice spots and fishing.
Thanks for watching.
Как всегда, отличные виды, легендарные внедорожники. Спасибо за видео!
Спасибо за просмотр!
Epic trip - I did love it (to the end) 🙂 Greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪
Thanks for watching!
I followed you for years now mcQbushcraft team at your service :) lost track on your adventures for good two years ago when my wife was pregnant.. I reconnect few days ago and man I must say hats off for the incredibles voyages you offered us for all these years.. I am amazed by your commitment to authenticity well manners and elegance on the subject of nature.. your obviously the best nature/adventure channel of TH-cam period!!! thx for all this generosity mate!!
Great vid mate..as always...Loved ever minute...
All you need is another member...and you could be the new TOP GEAR
Ivo is Clarkson (big Bloke)
Mike is Richard Hammond (the comic relief)
or you need is a James May (captain slow)🤣😂
Keep up the good work buddy..👍
Haha, well you never know! Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it!
Wow, awesome video. Thanks Mike!
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video as always Mike but next time, please overdub the TD5 noise over your old klatter-wagon rather than the other way round 😉😂
Hell no, mine sounds way better. Thanks for watching
Brilliant Mike, absolutely loved this one 👌
Thanks for watching!
tremendous video. would've liked to have seen the Seahawk cruising down those rapids :)
Haha imagine that. The Seahawks replacement might of actually survived lol. Thanks for watching.
3:38 is when I see a new video from Mike.
😅
Love your channel ive been inspired by you for years
As said, “ catching something isn’t what it’s all about.” That in itself is iconic and what makes the entire experience . They don’t call it catching but fishing. There in-lyes the hunt and the drama inside of what is typically is a visually stunning. that’s our love for it…
It totally agree, Its a real privilege to be in such locations. To catch some trout on the fly was very nice of course but even without that its still up there for me.
Thanks for watching!
I've been fishing since I was a little boy, I'm 50 now. As the years passed I have more and more wanted to not catch fish, nowadays I'm disappointed if I get a bite. I just like being out in the countryside.
I became like that with hunting. Hunted from 14 and as the years went on I Just use to enjoy the view and watch things. Its strange because I don't miss it yet it was such a huge part of my life.
what a cracking adventure!
Thanks for watching
Epic trip, hope you enjoyed the journey home sir
First video I have watched on your new channel Mike. I would love to see a lot more content like this. Overlanding is awesome and your vehicles sure stood the test.
I really enjoyed this video. Great job. Thank you for sharing this.
Thanks for watching!
Enjoyed the vid!
Nice trip... enjoy watching it
Thanks for watching
Great looking trip. Can I suggest Ivo looks at an Autel AP200 OBD reader, I use one with my Freelander 2 & it does everything I need of it.
I will let him know! Thanks for watching and for the tip.
The Jeep XJ is a work of art. Just look at those lines compared to the Rover
Well I agree, as an XJ lover.
Thank you for sharing your adventure! Thank you for taking me along. Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.
@@WorkshoptoWilderness You're very welcome!
Looks like the tea hit the spot!
Haha yes mate, the fuel on the journey!
very inspiring....thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
I love the hedgehog shrooms aswell, picked alot of them (and many other mushroom species) yesterday. Its a great year for mushrooms in my area (göteborg)
- I even bought a second dehydrator to be able to preserve shrooms and all other seasonal edibles😂
They are fantastic mushrooms that grow so readily. Always my favorite time of year just for the mushrooms. Thanks for watching.
Great trip! Me and Kimmylou enjoyed watching it and looking forward meeting you guys again next year!
Thanks for watching guys and hope to meet you both again soon!
Nice video 👌
Hi Mike, I really enjoy watching your videos/movies, just thank you for all the knowledge and ideas about the Jeep, I recently got a '97 cherokee and it's super fun👋🏼
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it! Congratulations on the XJ, good year to get one!
I really enjoyed this , thankyou
Very epic!!!!
Great video! Love it
What an adventure, really enjoy your films and the effort and time you put in really pays off as this one was fantastic😃👍
A splendid and smashing trip of two good friends. Very nice!!
Another great video Mike we really enjoyed it
Yes, I bet that was a lot of filming. Many thanks for sharing your adventures. Fantastic.
What a absolute superb watch mike! Will watch again later i think 👍
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it!
Found ya Mike. Excellent as always
This would be so fun, great video! :)
Well done! Thanks for sharing! Cheers from Ontario Canada 😊
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it!
Great video mate , thats a trip for the books
With break downs , night time scary bits and a cameo by Gollum and Big Foot.
Awesome 4 wd action and fishing to boot
One hell of a video mike. At time I felt like I was watching 4wd 247 channel with the off roading. Ha. I can only imagine the pain in the butt it is to set up cameras and set the drone to capture all the awesome images but it is totally appreciated. Thanks for taking us along on your adventure. What an awesome trip
It was a big one to film and edit, fortunately its much easier with two of you. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching!
Nice video!
Thanks for watching!
An absolute masterpiece Mike 👏👏👏
Thanks for watching!
Hi Mike. Again you made an enjoyable movie. And I understand why Ivo and you are a good match. It's clear that Ivo is from the Netherlands. I am curious where he lived in the NL and when he decided to live in Sweden. Have a good time! Rob
Absolutely stunning scenery guys! Thanks for sharing, great fun and an awesome time to share together! Loved the mines too! 😎👊👍
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
Fantastic trip, both vehicles did well seemed like, and hope you guys enjoy the last few days of it!
Yeah I think they both did well! Nothing too technical but a good range of conditions and distance. Thanks for watching!
Absolutely fantastic watch. I didn’t want it to end 👍
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching!
Great stuff Mike. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Epic trip, beautiful locations, awesome off roading shots, really enjoyed this video, it was worth the wait.
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching!
So much content mate only one thing to say absolutely brilliant 👍🏻🏴
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching!
Brilliant well edited adventure Mike. Lots to like.
Maybe next year I will ride my Royal Enfield motorcycle up to Sweden and come and say hello. What do you say about that then. "Hows about that then" !
If you keep on producing this quality of documentary video you'll be "up there" where you should have been Long Ago!
Thanks for watching Sandy. If you do ride that classic up here then that would be fantastic! I doubt I can keep up this level of video but I can certainly do it from time to time. Thanks Sandy and take care mate!
Great Vid! Keep up the great adventures. Watching you vids in New Hampshire, USA
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it!
that river crossing was dope
I think it being at night added more sketchiness to it.
A great video my friends! It looked like an awesome trip!
Thanks for watching!
Great Video Mike, I enjoy all your videos. I have a 2000 XJ which is taking forever to build. Is the Land Rover Stock? It did well on the trip.
A great trip video Mike. The drone footage was great. The overall camera work was pretty nice. The copper mines were very cool. I used to do a lot of spelunking, before the brain tumor, and it made me miss going into caves. Cheers.
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it! Hoe are you holding up at the moment?
Wow what a great area you live in! Nice xj even if you are driving it on the wrong side lol. I don’t think I’ve seen a diesel one yet in AZ anyway.
Thanks for the video!
Great video mate, the off-roading looked great fun, need to get me a 4x4 😂
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome vid mate totally loved it, some amazing scenery for sure.. you can’t go wrong with Haglofs I’ve got a ton of their gear never let’s you down..
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it! I always loved Haglofs, old and new stuff, its juts great gear and it holds up.
@@WorkshoptoWilderness it certainly does a great way to be protected from the elements when in the middle of nowhere..
👍👍
Thanks a lot, Mike for this nothern wilderness beauty. Have you filmed and edited as describe previously: 2,7 k 60 to 30 fps, protune on?
Thanks for watching! It's mostly 2.7k 60 protune on the hero 8, 6 and 5. The dji is 4k 30 HDR, flat colour. It's all in a 2.7k 30 project and the saturation and colour is on post.
Hi! Thanks for the nice journey ! If I may ask, did the louvers on the hood improve the engine cooling significantly ? 👍
Thanks for watching. The louvers have helped with engine shut off although hot air is also forced out of when when driving or idling.
A lot of heat comes out when I shut the vehicle off.
Havent you met @TheCherokeeAdventure aswell? I had a little hope one of you had a little video about that.
Yeah he stopped by on his travels. Really nice guy. No video as he only stayed for 20 minutes or so. Maybe next time.
@@WorkshoptoWilderness Ah, what a bummer.
Can you recommend any apps or resources for finding good vehicle camp spots in Sweden please as planning a trip. Can’t beat Yorkshire tea 😀
I use Gaia gps coupled with exploration and way point marking. Almost all my camps have just been me driving places and finding out if it's a good spot. It's a risk but my method is to mark 3 potential places near by each other in a location, drive there and see what there like. Yorkshire Tea is the best 👌
Always a pleasure watching your videos.
Also, "Dildo Baggins" 😂
Made me laugh! "Good to see a can of Monster out in nature doing it's thing" and Dildo Baggins" 😂😂
Thanks for watching!
THAT FACE DOE 3:38
Hey Mike,
I was looking for a XJ very recently until I saw the low roof load of 68kg. I planned to go for a hugh rack and a wide roof top tent (2.20m). In total both would be around 110kg. It would be around 40kg over the official roof load and thats what made we thinking whether the XJ ist the right car.
With your tent and further gear (in history) you were over the official load as well, right? Is it just like, you didnt care about it or did you worry about it as well?
Love your videos - keep going! :)
The roof load is on the factory roof bars not the drip rail. The drip rail has no official roof load but can support a tremendous amount of weight. I wouldn't mount a tent on the original load bars let alone a rack.
In my case my drip rails are ones I made myself from box section with a 5mm support all the way from one side to the other. But besides this mod the standard drip rails could support over 300kg easily.
I really appreciate your answer, which sounds very good to me ;)
By thinking just logical of the weight I would have said too, that the roof of the XJ should easily do it, but then I researched the official data and I was a little unsure…
I thought about the Front runner Slimline II, which looks quite massive :)
Greetings from Venice out of the rooftoptent on my Golf R.
I used a Frontrunner slimline 2 before my current tent. It mounts to the drip rails and the load is spread across six mounts that you can position on the pillars for maximum load. I think I had like 340kg on there at one point and it was fine.
Normally though I had the rack, 32kg, tent 43kg, bedding, 5kg, 20kg of gear in a bag at the back of the tent. I guess me 70kg and Megan who's 50kg and there was never a problem. That was on the normal drip rails before I modded them
Sounds good - then you had 100kg on the roof while driving as well.
I didn’t worry about the weight while parking/sleeping (~250kg), I worried more about the weight during the rides -> dynamic load.
Thanks a lot Mike!
