I really love this one. I’m Japanese do my first language is not English. So it makes me difficult understand some other TH-camr’a talks because they speak really fast but your speaking is very clear at sound so I could really understand easier than before. Thank you so much and you are one of the most favorite tech guy!! I hope that you could make much more video! I’m really looking forward it!
So here's the Trick - Formatting the T7 as ExFAT gives around ~700 MB/s while once you format as APFS you'll get 1050 MB/s. Recommended for Mac users.
Great video Hasan, love how you speak about the original space on the Mac compared to this device instead for external storage. Always smooth B roll of course haha, yes they still sell Seagate, I have the 4TB Seagate myself haha

@@HasanNiz Please help. I have a Samsung Portable T7 SSD, with which I would like to replace the hard drive in my Lenovo laptop.
What I did beforehand: updated the SSD T7’s firmware with the latest version of Samsung Magician, than run >chkdsk /f< to check for hard drive (on the HDD’s laptop) bad sectors (as Administrator), no error found. Than I run the latest Samsung Data Migration to copy windows 10 onto the SSD. After less than 3 hours, the Operating system (OS) transfer was successful, I rebooted whit BIOS booting from the SSD, but a red light on the T7 SSD flashed and the after a minute, or so, the windows 10 blue screen appears and was forced to shut down the system. I repeated the reboot without the internal hard drive [as many youtubers suggest] but in vain always the red light first, and than the blue screen. All the above processes done 3 times. Thanks a lot.

I just bought a 1TB T7 SSD for $109 plus shipping to Korea.... I know I won't get the full read and write speeds with any M1/M1 Pro or M1 Max SOC, but it will certainly be fast enough for bulk storage. In addition, I've started using iCloud much more often since its so convenient at storing work files, pictures and the occasional movie. Thanks for your review.
I love iCloud as well, don't ever have to worry about storing photos, documents and files for the most part, in terms of the speeds, yea not sure what hardware would I need to get the posted speeds, but it's faster than anything I can connect to my mac externally so I'm happy so far. @@HasanNiz Apple storage is outrageously expensive... Your decision to add storage using a portable Samsung T7 was wise..... It's a fast enough drive for almost everybody's needs. ....... Plus it comes with USB-C & Type A 3.2 cables which makes it convenient to connect to different machines. Smart move Hassan.
@@HasanNiz I think you should try the Apple usc c to usb c cable. That might make it faster since the cable comes with the ssd isn’t of quality that much high!
Hello Hasan, thank you for the video. One thing : you can't compare external SSD with Internal Apple SSDs. With my MacBook Pro 16' M1 Pro internal SSD, I get more than 5700 MB/s against 800-1000 MB/s with the T7. So yes, Apple storage is not cheap, but there is a good reason : it is way, way, faster...

Always loved Samsung’s memory and disk as a product. This coming from an Apple fanboy~
With my MacBook Pro (2020) I use the T7, a LaCie and two Sandisk Extreme SSD devices. I like all three brands but I have listed them here by order of preference. I use all of these because I have them, so I use them. I had three fully operational Windows-based computers but shelved them when I switched to Apple this past June. The transition has been up/down, love/hate. The SSD storage devices have been a joy compared to everything else I've used over the past 3 decades.
I've had mine for a few months now. Love it. Tonight however for whatever reason it started to hum lightly It's got me worried. I just love this SSD drive.
Nice video. A week ago, I bought a brand new Macbook Pro. it only has USB-C ports. So, I'll be using the USB-C to USB-C cable.
Ive not tried the 'Sandisk Extreme' but while I was doing research for an SSD I have found hundreds of people reporting disk failures particularly with the 4tb version.

You may want to try getting a faster usb-c cable. I use a OWC Thunderbolt 3 cable with all my SSD's and get faster transfer speeds 85% of the time. The cable was about $40 but it's definitely worth it. The cables they include with the drives are really just basic cables.
Are you using an M1 Mac? If so what read and write speeds are you getting using the OWC cable?
Interesting, as dproulx222 asked, what usb-c cable are you using? I'd be interested to test it out.

Nice to know Hasan coz I'm gonna use the T7 to get video from iphone15 pro max & then transfer to my 2011 Imac , so I don't need to purchase more cables...... YES I know transfer will be slow.....gonna have to get a new Imac eventually...... LOL !
What do you think of the T7 with fingerprint Recognition? Just picked up the BUFFALO External SSD 500GB - Compatible with PS4 / PS5 / Windows/Mac - USB-C - USB-A - USB 3.2 - External Solid State Drive - SSD- for $49.00 on Amazon gonna check it out but will be getting Samsung T7

Thanks Vilhelm! It was hard at the beginning when I was trying to manually sync the three cameras and the separate audio source until I found an automatic way of doing it, but yea I think I went way overboard with 3 😅

I assume you're using an M1 Mac, which explains the slower than advertised speeds. The M1 (and, sadly the M1 Max and M1 Pro) cripple USB speeds to about 70-80% of their potential. On my Intel Mac, the T7 can hit 980MB/s read speed, on my PC it can top 1000MB/s and on my M1 it gets the same 700-ish MB/s as yours.

I admire and am grateful for your knowledge! I purchased the samsung T7 touch SSD (along with 2 alternatives/back ups) but haven't been able to find guidance on formatting ( I have only macs (Macbook pro: APFS Volume/APFS (Encrypted); iMac: Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
From the manual, it lists exFAT and HFS file formats for Mac OS. From my research, though limited knowledge and by no means an expert, it seems the only options are HFS or exFAT.; wouldn't HFS Plus or HFS+ (also known as Mac OS Extended or HFS Extended) be more appropriate? Thank you!!

Did you have to format it first? Most non mac external drives are not recognized unless you format it first.
Hello Hasan , since you are familiar with mac and the T7, I was wondering if you could tell me if there is a certain format that is a more versatile format that i need to have the T7 in if i am copying and backing up all files, photos & videos from a Samsung Galaxy S10 phone straight to the T7 ssd, keeping the metadata intact, since the T7 has the capability to simply plug in and phone will recognize the T7. So that once transferred onto T7 i am able to then plug the T7 into my macbook pro retina and copy the files over to my macbook pro from the t7 ssd and the macbook pro be able to open or read the files since macbooks usually need to be in os journaled format . I believe the T7 comes in Exfat format by default . I recently tried to plug in my other T7 that i already have some files on for my macbook pro that is in Mac OS journaled format into Galaxy S10 the Phone did not want to recognize the T7. I know you deal more with cameras but was wondering if you have had any similar issues transferring photos/videos or have any suggestions of what Format to have the T7 SSD in so it would be readable and recognized by BOTH devices the Galaxy S10 and the Macbook Pro Retina? Thanks For Your Time & Any Advice You Can Offer!

Ray, thanks for the comment, unfortunately I don’t have a Galaxy S10 (or any Android device) to test it out, I don’t think a drive formatted with Mac OS Journaled will work on a non-mac/non-apple device, have you tried ExFat on T7? I would guess both the Android on Galaxy S10 and the MacOS should be able to connect to the SSD and allow you to perform read/write operations
Hey man ran across this video. I’m about to purchase a t7 shield for myself and mom. I recently bought my mom her first iMac and she’s transitioning from pc to Mac. (I’m also new to the iOS world. Limited knowledge) should I keep the t7 on eXfat till all files are off of the pc and into the Mac and then switching to APFS or will switching from eXfat to APFS delete or mess up the files on the ssd?

i have the T7, but transferring 500GB to a 2021 MBP fully spec'd with 64GB ram M1 Max the transfer speed went from 600mb/s to less than 100mb/s after a few minutes of transfer. No idea why. I did reformat the drive with mac journal, and still the same. Others have also had a similar experience. For small transfer amounts the transfer speed is fine. Blackmagic speed test i was getting around 600mb/s. But in real life us, this speed doesn't seem to be sustained. I don't know why the drop in speed.
If the SSD gets too hot, the SSD switches back in speed
@@franklindik6999 Hi the T7 when tested was empty and just plugged in. So was a cold start.
3 year warranty for TLC SSD! I'll wait till I get 5 yr warranty and MLC for a reasonable price.
After watching a few videos on using an SSD external drive to run Mac OS, so I erased and formatted the SSD and everything is working fine on my 2017 iMac. However, the surface of T7 SSD is really getting hot. Is this safe, and is there a way to lower the heat? Cheers!
just bought it for the new M2 mac mini i’ll be getting in a few weeks , is there a benefit in using the usb c to c cable over the USB A ? reason I ask is the mac mini has two usb c ports and I already have the monitor and a card reader planned for these two ports

My computer (pc) wont recognize my samsung t7 shield drive. Honestly pretty pissed, i cant find any thing online that has my exact issue and tech support just straight up didnt know how to help and told me to try it on another computer and ended the chat.
My issue is my computer makes the dinging noise like a drive is plugged in but doesnt show up in the drive section, and the only place i can find the drive is in the devices and printers section in the control panel and the device manager but no where i can actually open the drive to get the footage off. Anyone know how to access it or at least any ideas? 🙏
Well this ssd is way slower than the way it's advertised.. Crazy stuff..

Thanks! I haven't used other portable SSD drives apart from the Samsung T7 so I may not be able to answer your question, sorry, I have used their PC internal SSD drives like the 800 and the 900 series, the T7 works wonders for me so far. What's your use-case for the drive?

Looking at this ssd drive for ps5 is it any good for gaming storage?

It should work just fine with the 2017 Macbook Pro. The drive comes with the USB-C to USB-A cable as well, so you can easily plug it in your Macbook.
Kingston X2000 IS MUCH faster by double with almost the same price.
It’s expensive but much much much faster than an external ssd.
you can keep system files in ur mac mini ssd but keep large video files in the portable
I just bought a T5 for my m1 14inch pro, do I need to reformat the drive before using?
Yes, reformat the drive. Follow this procedure. Go to:
1. Disk Utility
2. Select the drive you want to reformat - (NOT Macintosh HD)
3. Erase, Rename the Disk and choose the following format:
A. MAC OS Extended (Journaled) MAC only - usually best option.
B. APFS - (MAC OS 10.13 or above) MAC only - optimized for SSDs and flash drives found in USB sticks to only work on MACS.
C. Works on both MAC and Windows (ExFat)
4. You are finished :-)

Sandisk ssds especially the extreme pro have failures and even a lawsuit because of this
I only get 50% of the advertised speed on my T7 - useless to me - I have faster mechanical drives
