Vio-lence is my all time favorite speed metal band, hands down! Growing up in speed metal band, and being a drummer, I never understand why more wasnt publizied about Perry Stricklands hand speed. His single stroke rolls are blazing and he flips the beat often and is comfortably playing inverted. Sean Killian is often critized, but IMO is amazing. A true vocal genius, his phrazing, vocal "solos" and timing the best ive ever heard. And no one can deny the gtr section, they straight up shred!!
Saw these dudes in the 80's. Completely blown away. A buddy of mine dragged me to the show. Think it was east Bay. Saw possessed, suicidal, dark angel that same year, so the bar was pretty high for a band I'd never heard of. They didn't disappoint. A lot of people trip on the singer. I happen to think it helps distinguish this band. Brilliant.
For the past 3 years, I have watched this music video every now and again. EVERY TIME I come to this specific upload, I forget it is the censored version. Whenever I hear the "beep" noise I always go, "What the fuck?!...Damn it...every time!!" Badass video by a badass band, though! Looks like paradise!!
I’m a huge thrash/death metal fan. Have been since around 1986. This is, without doubt, my all time favourite metal song. Never get bored of it. Phil and Rob on guitar is immense and awesome drumming
Always the criticism with Vio-lence's vocals whether they're not harsh enough or sounds like a punk vocalist...etc. Keep in mind what era this was, I think the vocals are the definition of 80's sound. It's when metal and punk sort of started giving off on each other after years of rivalry and finally some mutual respect. Without that happening we wouldn't know thrash as it is today or at all.
Sean Killian is an acquired taste. When you give Vio-lence a few listens it all makes sense. Nonetheless he is without a doubt one of the most unique vocalists in thrash metal.
I was at this show on Sep 3 1989 at The Stone in San Fran. They let everyone go nuts for 2 to 3 songs while they recorded for the video. I'm in this video at 4:00. You can see my big head on the left of the screen looking into the head cam. Thanks for the memories.
Ah, the memories. I too have great memories from The Stone. I had the privilege of hanging with the Laaz Rockit boys. And they showed me a world he had never seen before! Aside from all the Laaz stuff, one of my favorite memories is meeting and chatting w/ Lars & Jason at a Flotsam / King Diamond gig.
I love this song!! Vio-Lence were immense! Perry is one of the best and under-appreciated drmmers in all thrash. Robb's bangs always make me laugh when I see these vids.
I was lucky to be there the night they filmed this, and to my surprise, I'm in 2 shots in the beginning. What a fucking awesome night, never to be forgotten!
"500 thrash and death metal Riffs" ALL uploaded now. 41 parts. 6 1/2 hours of Riffs! Keeping Thrash Metal Alive.....Lots of Vio-lence Riffs. Check out parts 1,2,4,5,21,27,31 Superb Riffers! This Riff is on collection because it is AWESOME!
I saw 'em at the 9:30 club in D.C. way-back-when. Killer band! I was the first one off the stage. Great pit that night too. Think I lost at least 10 lbs.
Man man man, wat een rifs! Niet normaal! Alleen spijtig van de zang altijd bij die trash groepen. Geen ene die wat deftig kan zingen. Eigenlijk, waarom Rob hier eens niet laten over zingen :-)
i got this on tape when i was in the seventh grade, i still have it! I'm 34 now and this shit still kills most of the crap out today. hell they even have a break down in this song.
Hahaha, I don't know what all of you dudes are complaining about, the bleeping makes it funny!! THAT'S A GOOD THING!! And look at it this way, the bleeping means it the lyrics offend people. That's a good thing.
@THRASHFKINFILLETS yea dude I had the same problem until I saw them live and they really put on a F'n great show, then I listened to The Blackening more and more and now they are one of my favorite bands
I would also include Armoured Saint and Metal Church. They where more melodic than most of the Thrash scene and not as fast but they still wrote some killer tunes and deserve more respect than they get.
... And when I say shred it isnt mindless noodling, it is musical, ultra-tight, and has emotion. Im not afillated with the band, i just really love them, grew up with this music, it is in my soul and for anyone that likes this kind of music, check out Enternal nightmare. Vio-lence, and death angel two of my favorite bay area bands. My wish for 2012 is for VIO-LENCE to come back, and you fuckers need to come up to Portland, Or.!
Vio-lence & Evildead are the two REAL & best Thrash bands, Sean Killian vocals are superb, like Death Metal vocals they take some getting used to or you love them straight away like me. Machine Head fans would shit themselves if they knew Demmel & Flynn were in Vio-lence.
Intelligence doesn't have anything to do with it, it's a matter of taste. I remember when Violence's debut came out and even some metal reviewers didn't like Sean's vocals. I like them personally, and I didn't like Ron's vocals from Coroner either at first, then I got to love them and the band :)
Hands down one of the most under rated thrash bands from the 80"s
I agree

I’m a huge thrash/death metal fan. Have been since around 1986. This is, without doubt, my all time favourite metal song. Never get bored of it. Phil and Rob on guitar is immense and awesome drumming

Fucking bollocks. Both bands are excellent bands in their own right
this song was my introduction to vio-lence and made me a life-long fan!

That's the best comment I've seen on here
The vocals sounds a bit like Anthrax to me
+Michael M I think the vocals are pretty annoying sometimes , but acceptable . yes, sometimes sounds a little punkish , not that I care ...
@@zegonzales1 Sean Killian owns your balls.

Very underrated band!! Vio-lence was a killer thrash band THRASH OR DIE!!!
Fucking badass riffs without being overdone \m/
@disturbedspike I think he's vocals were sort of hardcore punk and they suited Vio-lence's brand
of thrash just fine
Why the hell did they have to blank out the F-words
To show on mtv
yeah!!!!
I guess Flynn and Demmel are too invested in Machine Head to even do a original lineup tour with Vio or something. That would be killer, though!
machine head is the ratarded vision of rob flynn
Vio-Lence is the best Thrash Band lyrical support
@THRASHFKINFILLETS yea dude I had the same problem until I saw them live and
they really put on a F'n great show, then I listened to The Blackening more and more and now they are one of my favorite bands
