When I was a teenage thrasher I didn't like the Anthrax sound, always gravitating more towards Megadeth/Slayer/Annihilator/Overkill/Testament vibes. Now I'm 40 and while I still adore the bands I mentioned, I also started to appreciate Anthrax more and more. It started with Worship Music, then I fell in love with For All Kings. These are somewhat different than what Anthrax did in the 80s, but it started the landslide. For the past few days I'm obsessed with Persistence of Time, which became one of my Top 10 thrash metal albums ever recorded, on par with Rust In Piece, Reign in Blood or Never Neverland. This particular song might be my very favorite, however Belly of the Beast is a strong contender.
In my opinion they never got the credit Metallica Megadeth or Slayer got . Their last 2 albums were probably the best work they’ve done since persistence of time their a fantastic live presence and should be filling stadiums and not supporting other big 4 bands . I started listening in 1985 when I bought Spreading the disease because it had a cool cover and I still listen to it now .
Anthrax are like good wine, older and better. Last album is a masterpiece and a breath of fresh music and the new one should kick ass...Metal and good music never dies
amazing album man, Anthrax reinvented themselves and in someway this album brings some of the old stuff from the 80´s. From the big 4 Anthrax and Slayer right now are the best. Hey Joe you surname Manzella indicates that you are an american italian fan from New York,am i right ?
+helder lopes Yeah I think of that album as being split into 3 sections.. The first section is a riff driven introduction to the new anthrax identity. The middle is great, melodic almost radio rockers. Definitely tells a story. And the third section of the album is a throwback to the band's style just before 90s hit. The third section reminds me so much of mid to late 80s anthrax, it's a breath of fresh air and I love the new album.. I can listen to all the way through and not skip any tracks.
