The soup dumpling you ordered is a special version with soup inside only, that’s why u got a straw. There are two types of famous dumplings in Shanghai, soup dumplings and pan fried dumplings, both are juicy with meat inside, you can find them easily in restaurants on the street or in a shopping mall. In terms of pan fried dumplings, u can try Yang’s Dumpling, it’s a chain small restaurant everywhere in Shanghai.

Where is the food court exactly? Looks like a good place to start for newbies to Shanghai.
It’s on Nanjing Road (Walking Street) and it’s maybe 100 meters from The Bund (On your right if you’re walking east towards The Bund).
