The word non functional is so relatable to me too,yes there are days ,I'm just too super energetic and then there are few days,, when I can't force myself to do something 😢 Thank you so much for sharing small elements that we often miss out, much love Leo 💐
You are correct. Having a purpose is important because it helps get out of our own heads. I am struggling to find another purpose. Sorry for the length here. It's hard for me to keep it short. As a middle-aged man, I was diagnosed with Autism and ADHD a few months ago. I just came across your helpful channel. I see a lot of your mannerisms in me. I also now understand my current and past intense special interests a lot better. I like to research specific topics until I understand them completely! It can be exhausting, but I lose track of time and it's an escape from my overactive brain. My current challenging special interest is figuring out my unhealthy, elderly parents' situation and their possible passing. We don't communicate well on the phone, so I don't know how I can physically help them at their house? Also, I don't know how I will handle arranging a public funeral and caring for the other grieving parent. It's WAY too much. Knowing what I know now, I feel one or both are Autistic. I don't bring that to their attention. However, they will not touch the subject of my autism. It's too much to speak about. I let them know about my Dr's diagnosis, they were sympathetic at first, but they don't understand it now and they won't do their own research on the topic to help me or us as a family. It's too overwhelming for them and sometimes if feels like that for me. From experience, I'll get it all figured out. Ii just takes me longer than others and I have to do it my own way. Anyway, thank you for listening and for your good helpful content. All the best.

With your parent's situation I have faith that you will figure out the best thing to do. You mentioned so tough challenges and decisions you need to make but I'm certain at the end any decisions made will be in the best interest of them. Thank you again for writing this comment.
