I would absolutely still use this card today . The memory bus width at 256 bit and 4GB of GDDR 5 make it slightly better specs than a a 1050ti. If the core clocks could be raised above 1 GHZ . Wow this could still be fast . A beauty Chris, and a well deserved place in the collection.
The problem with this K5000 is the core clock is so damn low and there is no boost clock . The TDP for this is very low as well. In terms of CUDA cores, the K5000 is equal to GTX 680 but because of hampered core clocks and low TDP, the performance is much slower. And no, all Quadro are locked, they cannot be overclocked even with MSI Afterburner.

It won't because it's not price gouging when they list it at original price and YOU the consumer drives it up. Scalping only applies on fixed price marketplaces, like Facebook, not to eBay
Yeah definitely, I’m on the search for a perfect price to performance workstation card that I can really recommend right now, hopefully one that’s accessible to a lot of people too
Could u include work loads like render etc? I mean this is where those Quadros shine. They are workstation GPUS. Would be cool if u include tests like this beside the gaming tests.
Finally, somehow he read my request to try an old Quadro for gaming. I hope it was P2200 but K5000 is fine too. I will say it again LOUDLY... *"Quadro P2200 is the most powerful single-slot GPU without 6-pin that almost matches GTX 1060 performance."*
The similarly performing Quadro M2000 can be picked up for about 0I25 to 0I60$ USD on eBay in notable quantities, which could save somebody a bit on assembly of the system due to the M2000 not requiring a Six Pin cable to power the card, as well as slightly longer driver support, as I don't know how much further Kepler will be supported by Nvidia going forward and Maxwell still seems to be a sweet spot for many who didn't make the jump to Pascal and Turing during their original run. While the M2000 probably won't perform as well as the K5000 in specific Workstation tasks, being able to get comparable performance in Gaming for about the same price and in a 075 Watt package doesn't sound so bad; while there may be the chance that somebody could get a "300" Series Radeon card from the First Generation Polaris Era within the same price range as well (a Radeon 09 "380" will usually range between 0I29 and 0I90$ on eBay today), it will ultimately come down to which resources your games make use of, especially if you play anything with OpenGL (Nvidia cards are more optimized with OpenGL in mind; titles such as Armagetron Advanced, Sonic Robo Blast II, and the community~based Windows port of Avara (I996) will freeze your system if you try to play them on a system with a Radeon card due to both hardware and driver issues that AMD continues to overlook or flat~out neglect, even in the Navi 020/RX 6000 Era), do your best to vet for the best prices but also know which card is best for the workloads you use and it'll save you a good amount in the long term while you wait for something noticeably more high end.
Thanks for doing an old workstation card! Yeah, functional was what I was going for with my M2000 for mostly CAD and a little light gaming. Might be worthwhile seeing if SLI for two such card provides reasonable performance is say three screens are used simultaneously _(or maybe even more than 3 screens if the 4th screen is left for reference on the mswindows desktop such as browsing a pdf or spreadsheet, or xmpp chat)._ While the cost for one card might not be a great option, it might be worth it if a person already owns one (and seeks to use multiple monitors). Having nice drivers on win-server2012 or win8.1 could make it a more stable sensible option than say a rx570 which only has one drivers set from win7 that works on 8.1 properly _(and therefore lacks other drivers across which to compare game support or performance)._ Also, unlike a top heavy GPU, you're not going to choke the CPU for other software such as chat (making audio cut out), as long as graphics are set to reasonable expectations.

Have one with an additional Tesla card, which is a weird combination. They were designed to work together in SLI-like mode, but without the ribbon connecting them. The Tesla accelerator half can run by itself, and has a single DVI output. It doesn't have the full strength of a K5000 and is more of a GPU co-processor. In games, it's about half the power of a GTX980. Definitely not a gaming card. Their cores are assigned to handle high poly counts, with less emphasis on 2D shaders and overlay effects, that games tend to abuse.
Workstation CPUs hold up amazingly my x5690 still is amazing and I always could upgrade to a dual Xeon rig but might just upgrade to a 12th gen i3 since the problem I have is the lack of code instructions that the x5690 can handle so I can't utilize the new instructions that the new PCSX2 emulator has for more performance, and I cannot run Xbox 360 emulators.

The P2000 Quadro is a GTX 1060 with a 160 bit bus and 5gb of GDDR5, and they get nearly 50% higher frames than the K5000. Not sure if these are as reliable as the family before, but 5000/6000 were actually backward compatible with really old motherboards, I use a 5000 as a test GPU for pre 2008/Windows XP motherboards. My only complaint is that they use displayport/dvi, and some older monitors are stubborn so you are forced to use displayport to displayport cables, as displayport to hdmi cables do not always work for them. Workstation wise GTX Titan 6GB is better for price than K5200, if you use Iray and the like with older versions of Autodesk software, with the only thing better about a K6000 being that it has 12GB instead of 6GB. I would not use a GTX Titan for modern gaming, but it's still way better off than a K5000/K5200 for older games. I'm forced to use a Titan on my workstation because the version of Iray I use can only detect Kepler cards, so no Maxwell/Pascal for me.
there were aliexpress GPUs that have rx 580s and 570s 4gb (most likely ex mining gpus in china) for around 100-150 USD which isn't the best deal in the world but in this market as of now it's actually not completely horrible.
so how difficult was this, or even if possible, to overclock. Have a k5200 coming in for cheap and was wondering if I could get the clocks up slightly. Also two other youtubers mentioned while gaming on different quadros that the experience felt really smooth, smoother than the lower FPS reflected. Did it feel smoother to you than the numbers indicated? I suppose I could be patient and just see for myself, but there is so little information on these older quadros for the mainstream because nobody ever expected the great GPU shortage to have us resorting to workstation cards.
You should take a look at the Radeon FirePro S10000. Theres a Seller on eBay that sells them of in bulk from some warehouse or sth like that and has boxes full of them, leading to low prices from 170€ upwards for a dual GPU Workstation card.

Still, a 3400G or 4650G might be something I might build in the future whenever prices for those go down, then this m2000 can go into an optiplex or gift to someone
Workstation GPUs mine as well, and even better sometimes because of the higher VRAM
Would you ever do live component testing on twitch? I'd definitely throw you a prime subscription
I’ve thought about it but I’m a bit nervous of going live 😂
@@RandomGaminginHD Totally understandable! I still think you'd do great at it. If you ever do decide to go for it, just know you'd have immediate support over there.
Yes, i also mentioned to use alternative hardware.
Personally, because i used it for professional purposes .. i have a RTX 5000 in my PC .. and i can play games with it, too of course. I am sure the RTX 8000 can easily compete with even the highest end graphics cards.
i have the rtx 8000
why are your videos and comments so wierdly heartwarming
@@fleurdewin7958 get to bios modding or vmodding . Thats for the XOC guys

God I love these videos they're so interesting I love it you do stuff other people don't
I had to fight to get one of those for my CAD machine back in the day. The dept manager was such a Luddite, I had to explain the situation in duty cycle relative to his welder... even then it was a good six months of me working at 1/4 speed before it happened.
I do remember a bios flash and minor HW mod to turn a reg card into a quadro
Currently watching this on a Lenovo P70 with the Quadro M5000M card. This beasts actually runs any game I through at it.
Guess 2012 was a decent year for GPUs. Greetings form my newly acquired 660.
Apparently for ps4 it wasn’t
Its one of 2 channels we're I actually hit the like button 🤣. Really enjoy watching cause its all about more obtainable hardware to the average person. Keep it up, lovin' it
I have this card. Found it on Ebay for $60 a couple years ago. 900p for most of these games is a game changer lol.
Love you're vids man , I need to tinker way more with my majestic beast.
It’s nice to know someone listens to my comments even it if was my comment 😂 Well it tried its best bless it and thanks for exploring another avenue, great vid 😎👊🏼
Always wanted a Quadro K5000.... Thanks for the video!
My thoughts: not sure if the Quadro is truly using all of its cores, but the CPU is BARELY being used, at 30% typical, where it's been running at 70% with some of your other gfx cards. 🤔
It runs COD: 2020 but Crysis from 1776 brings it to it’s knees!
Crysis from 1700's lol 😂
Started off a little strong with Cyberpunk 2077 lol. Anyway, great video.
Love from Bangladesh bro❤...i really love your videos❤...i also love budget parts myself, i'm currently using an R7 240 1Gb gddr5 version..
ill be glad when Price Gouging and Scalpers Will become illegal on the internet
They won't. Ever. eBay doesn't care enough as long as they get money in their pockets - which is how business goes really.
@@Dimondminer11 true but never know stranger things have happend
It won't because it's not price gouging when they list it at original price and YOU the consumer drives it up. Scalping only applies on fixed price marketplaces, like Facebook, not to eBay

Thank you sir for another great review 👍
Got one of these for an old Mac. Caught on fire when turning on lol
Im enjoying those more frequent videos
Best hardware channel xD
Could u include work loads like render etc? I mean this is where those Quadros shine. They are workstation GPUS. Would be cool if u include tests like this beside the gaming tests.
Great video man keep uploading great content
Finally, somehow he read my request to try an old Quadro for gaming.
I hope it was P2200 but K5000 is fine too.
I will say it again LOUDLY...
*"Quadro P2200 is the most powerful single-slot GPU without 6-pin that almost matches GTX 1060 performance."*
I got one recently $167 in amazon. Using it for hardware transcoding in jellyfin. So far so good
Nice keep up working i love ur vids
Thank you for sharing . the performance is quite close to GTX 1050 2GB and RX 460 4GB
Considering it’s a quadro from 2012 I’m impressed
Thanks for doing an old workstation card! Yeah, functional was what I was going for with my M2000 for mostly CAD and a little light gaming. I am wondering for $100 what gpu alternatives there are that you are thinking of? I don't mind putting the M2000 in an optiplex and shopping around for another card if there is something better.
The market is so different right not depending on location but I’ve seen 1050s around this price and older 7000 series AMD cards too
@@RandomGaminginHD thanks! I'll keep an eye out for one (I should do some research, you're the first person I have heard mention a 7000 amd card)
@@Bajicoy I mean the 7000 series amd cards weren't great. I remember when I built my first pc popping in a 7870 and having it overheat in diablo 3 xD 120 degrees was apparently not within specs
@@Naturalhighz oh wow, that is super hot, did not know any card could get that hot without throttling. I will be very cautious shopping for the 7870 and similar, thanks
@@Naturalhighz it's probably false reading. It will shut off before you hit that tamp. Mine was 75° at peak although fans were at 100% but thermal paste was 18 months old, so changing it will help a lot. 7870 wasn't as hot as people say.
So for you people who dont know any thing about quadros how their names work will suprise most of you. So quadros use a letter at the beginning of their name which marks what architecture family they are apart of. Fx(fermi) k (kepler) m (maxwell) p(pascal) t (turing) a (ampere). Obviously the numbers list performance grade of the card.
Good stuff as always
I would like to advise one thing, plz use very high settings in gta 5 with msaa off as almost every benchmark i see is with those settings.

Amazing video! Think you could cover the quadro k5200 and/or the quadro m5000 cards?

The voiceover on this is ridiculously quiet

PS: can you increase the audio a bit, like 30%? It seems to be a little low and when the Ads come from nowhere they jump scare me 😅
Have one with an additional Tesla card, which is a weird combination.
The quadro p series is pretty good for gaming. On my first pc build I got a p2000 for 50 bucks wand was able to play modern titles at the time 1080p medium to high 60fps
P2000 for 50 is not a good deal
@@xbyxenos3200 your telling me a modern 1080p 60fps and med-high settings for 50 usd is not a good deal. Your an idiot then. You can't even get a regular price gpu rn even used. Paying scalper price with everything
I'd love to see you check in on the 1080ti, in 2021. More specifically the MSI Duke oc model, as I recently just picked one up and wanted your thoughts on it.
You can actually find it by a good price?
well that's only 3-4 years old. Still a good card.
Bro a 1080 Ti will give you 1440p 144hz ultra gaming for years to come. You not need worry.
brand doesnt really matter with nvidia cards, amd lets the board partners tinker a bit more but nvidia doesnt want their founders cards looking bad. anyways, 1080ti is a beast still. will play at 1080p high fps or even 1440 well above 60 for years to come.
Even the worst 1080ti variant is still a great card
Hey, can you maybe test a Titan Z? I love the old dual GPU cards. I myself have a Gtx 690 and a Titan Z.
This is what it feels like to play on a PS4 in 2021. Like literally you experienced PS4 performance on a PC....
I will never even get to see a K5000 for the rest of my life. WHY DO I KEEP BINGE-WATCHING THESE VIDEOS ... ??
“But only with these significantly reduced settings”
*lowspecgamer has appeared*
Hey, when you get workstation cards like this can we see some professional benchmarks? Like a blender benchmark or aftereffects
Probably the best bang for the Buck right now in the Used Market is a GTX 970, GTX 980, GTX 980 TI, GTX 1060, GTX 1070, GTX 1070 TI, a GTX 1080 or Ti if you can get one Maxwell and Pascal has aged better... For AMD RX 570 and 580 and the Vegas. Out of all of these cards the Longevity of the GTX 970 is of Interest. An Interesting Test would be a GTX 950 vs a GTX 750 TI and GTX 1050 TI though for those on a Pennies Budget...
It's like joining a F1 race on a bus.
If you're reading this comment, this particular GPU is still good for Productivity.
Like Adobe Premiere Pro 2021, Blender 2.9, and several other Animation software that relies on GPU.
wow 2:07 that shotgun must be shooting daisies as rounds...
I think a decent Ryzen APU or possibly the new Intel CPUs with iris Xe would work the same or better as this Quadro card, right?
honestly depends which one and what kind of ram is being used in said APU
first gen apus wouldn't stand a chance, as an example (rocking a 2700u on my laptop)
if we make the question black and white, though? As in, "are there ANY APUs or Intel w/ Xe that could beat it?"
the answer is "yes"
Can you compare it to its Geforce variant? The M4000 is also interesting, costs €250 here, sort of 970-980 with 8GB VRAM. Or the GRID K1. I found one, it is a quad GPU card, which is really special.
The P2000 Quadro is a GTX 1060 with a 160 bit bus and 5gb of GDDR5, and they get nearly 50% higher frames than the K5000. Just sayin'
Hey, I've been seeing a lot of Radeon R9 350 gpu's w/ 4gb of GDDR5 for sale for like $40 usd and free shipping. Any chance you'd be interested in getting one to show how well/poorly it is? Thank you.
Workstation and Gaming GPUs and CPUs can do vice versa, but just at lower specs.
I recently sold my quadro p4000. Did well in games, a bit under gtx1070 performance.
I wonder how this bad boy would do overclocked and with new thermal paste. maybe 10-20% improvement?
You should take a look at the Radeon FirePro S10000. Theres a Seller on eBay that sells them of in bulk from some warehouse or sth like that and has boxes full of them, leading to low prices from 170€ upwards for a dual GPU Workstation card.
could you do a build using a older model xeon and a older high tier gpu (amd r7/9 nvidia 6xx/9xx), i see alot of videos of builds using older xeons but their being paired with 5500s and 1650s, id like to see something done with a gpu you can actually buy
Given the current market conditions I'd say this is a pretty decent card. Just about comparable to a gtx 1050 with the VRAM necessary to run modern games well.
Always thought that the 680/770 with 4GB would have quite a decent life. Seems like that was right.
@@HappyBeezerStudios Yeah it seems like youd have a better time with a 770 vs a 780 even considering the better performance that VRAM limitation is really apparent in newer games
I feel happy I'm the 1,000th like
you should try getting all the parts they use for game development along with the quadro.
