  • This shows you how to have enemy spawns coming in from one direction to a specified point.
    The code for the sqf file:
    pastebin.com/ESAdR3Gj
    Create a text file in your mission directory and name it wave.sqf (or whatever you like) Copy and paste the code into the file.
    Create a trigger with []execVM "wave.sqf"; in the on activation field and this will work.

    okay so i really want to thank you because your videos have been the best to go to for all the scripting stuff in arma. im familiar with coding but unfamiliar with arma's stuff so its been a great help!
    I made some changes to this script and added a loadout swap incase you wanted specific things to spawn instead of being just limited to whats in the group config.
    i can share that with you if you like!
    Rn i have a little tower defense type game mode in the works where they AI spawn with nothing but nades lmao
    i also added little chimes like on exile when you drop them.
    I would however like to add in an array of class names rather than cfg groups so that you can have specific things spawn from a list rather than requiring a group.
    The optre first contact mod doesnt have vehicle groups
    I know about EOS but im obsessed with writing my own stuff, so if you have any tips on where i should look to do this please let me know.
    I have eos and i've been scanning through its files but i cant find the file that calls to the unit pool to select a random boio and spawn them
    right now i just have a bunch of cfg groups in an array so it will choose a group at random when spawning stuff in, but since the mod has no vehicle config groups i cant make random vehcs spawn in with a crew.
    I know how to spawn in a vehicle and add a crew normally so i've been working to just add that into the list of spawn options but its all so round about and un-simple x-x
    any help would be awesome and like i said id be more than happy to share what i've done with ya!

      @@OnlineCombatBN had a go and it worked first time. Had more of a problem installing visual studio 😂
      So I have done wave 1 and 2 but what I want to do now is increase the number of troops in groups 1 and 2 as the waves progress. Do I just copy and paste the group 1 with the relevant troop config line under the existing group 1 and config line?

    Hi, love this and am using it for an upcoming mission of mine. However, is there a way to increase the intensity of the waves? I’ve tried adding _group3 and _group4 but get a lot of errors

      Have you considered using EOS? Much easier to do waves.

      @@OnlineCombatBN looking to do around 8-10 waves of varying intensity. They'll be attacking 1 of 3 locations from 1 of 4 specified directions at a time.
      The amount of waves isn't my issue however, I'd just like to be able to add more groups to a wave...

    Okay another question. What if you wanted to spawn the same wave again or even hook it up to a randomized wave spawner??

      Use EOS, but that spawns waves in 360 degrees. Or the respawn garrison module in the SOG DLC.

    Which part of the script makes the enemy move towards the marked point? I’m new to Arma’s scripting and am using this video to help me figure all of that out, and So far I’ve got the enemy spawning down but I’m stuck on that last part.

      Okay, so I've done a bit of playing around with the scripting, and whatever is making the units move on "getme" is proving to be a real pain to isolate. The doMove script located within that collection of setSkill scripts seems reliant on the scripts below it in order to function, since if I try to remove them the units won't advance on the waypoints set. Not entirely sure why that is though.

    How do I make my transport planes fly in formation

      The only way you can sort of have them fly in formation is to have them in the air a long distance from the zone you want to see them in. They will eventually sort themselves into a formation, but they are AI pilots so there are not promises on whether they will actually fly in formation or not.

      Nicholas - this method is a stop gap between the arma modules and other systems. If you have the SOG DLC, use the respawn garrison module, it is excellent for spawning as many troops as you like, that then move to waypoints. It is without a doubt the best method to spawn enemy AI for wave type attack scenarios.
