@@seenthroughglass I think that’s the one about the very existence of the F1 GTR depending on one guy asking for it to happen. Amazing! And the cars McLaren actually built to « apologize » on certain occasions. Brilliant!

As you said Sam the collection of McLaren F1’s was jaw dropping, I thought I was incredibly lucky to see the red one and the original long-tail a few years ago in the same day but that many in such a amazing place would leave me speechless. As for the level of personalisation that you received at your hotel 😮

Many of us, like yourself, enjoy much more than the amazing autos you share…to include architecture, interiors, food and the dining…the whole luxury experience!

Had the privilege of being given a tour by Rowan Atkinson of his F1. If you have not seen one in person lets just say seeing them on screen does them no justice at all. Pure function, none of the nonsense adorned by modern hyper-cars, no bells and whistles, just a pure driving machine. Jodie Kidd did a video recently featuring the F1. Well worth a view if you too are a fan of this astonishing automotive legend! Really enjoyed the video Sam! Thank you.

Funny that McLaren raced against themselves with the CLK instead of Mercedes 9:18
The original Ueno Clinic that won Le Mans was valued at US$65 million back in 2015 so hate to think what it’s worth now.
Every F1 vid I've ever watched gets my heart racing, and heavy breathing. I cannot contain my love for this car.
Runner up in terms of evoking emotion is how 911/930/993s make me feel. (964 never really did it for some reason.)

I stayed at the Peninsula in Hong Kong Sam, and you're right' it is one hell of a hotel, my only problem was I was in a film crew on our way to Manilla to interview Imelda Marcos, so, being in extravagant transit, we had about six hours in our rooms, which were epic. Love the F1's.

In the history of racing cars you forget Dr. Thomas Bscher, from Germany, who also urged McLaren to use the F1 in the race. He even had to buy 2 to get 1 race car.

Living in the US and there being a burnt orange F1 in the US in the late 90s or early 2000s that got coverage in a couple car magazines, burnt orange has always been "the color" for me when it came to the F1. I guess silver works too. I would take the brown F1 at this point if I'm being honest, I'm not too particular.
Love the story behind the cars! Also the story of the Mexican Cartel F1 (VinWiki story) is great! If you don't know just search for it on YT.

Had the pleasure of sitting in a McLaren F1 at the Park Lane showroom (purchased the book of the McLaren F1 )and asked politely if I could sit in the car,only the passenger seat to the left of the driver absolutely amazing it was the mid nineties so phone technology was not what we have now so no selfies

I saw the F1 demonstrator in 1997 I think, at MIRA’s 70th anniversary event where it was supposed to be matched against the XJ220 on the bowl. The XJ dropped out of the joust but the F1 reputedly ran at 230mph and it sounded like a jet aircraft from the middle of the bowl with its three banked corners holding in the sound. A mate of mine saw 187mph out of his ZZR1100 on the braking straights.
Had a McLaren pencil case on the late 90s, loved them
9:16 The McLaren CLK was indeed an insane racecar and an even rarer sight, as no one in the world apart from Sam has only seen it in real life 🤣

I love these cars so much but everyone does!! I was lucky enough to get a couple of carbon F1 parts back in the mid 90’s off my Dads secretary at the time as her boyfriend worked for them. Such a beautiful car.

F1 Joy's owner I believe also owns P1 Joy, a P1 in the same colour combination as the F1! All F1 owners were given first refusal of P1's, I believe Henry Catchpole has a video on both cars
Mercedes actually had an F1 following it's success as a test mule for the aerodynamics when designing the CLK-GTR

I saw that CES4R one driving on the M4 about five years ago, it had that same wrap/livery. I was in a transit tipper and absolutely lost my mind. I’ve got a really bad blurry photo on one on my old iPhones somewhere. Absolutely couldn’t believe my eyes.

Really good video! I wonder if the the F1 collection in Brunei will ever come to public view. Apparently, the BRF still hold some of the most significant ones.
Including the F1 Motorsport variants, probably closer to a billion quid.

The f type spec is sooo nice
The longtail actually won its class beating the GT1 porsche in le mans 1997 and finished second overall, behind the lmp porsche. Its long been said by mclaren that they took the eye off the ball worrying about other gt cars and could have pushed for an outright win if they had decided to push more during the night
