This is my favorite car audio channel. 1 year ago I knew absolutely nothing about car audio, but this channel and a few others have helped me out tremendously. I’ve installed 4 different systems since then, and now I’m getting pretty deep into my daily drivers sound system. Such a fun hobby. Expensive though 😂
This is legitimately my dream build. I have a 2020 F150 and I’ve been brainstorming how to pickup more bass than my 2 12’s. I think I’ve found my solution. Love it!
Agreed. JL Audio has some really good accurate sounding audio equipment, but man they’re proud of their product. Had the “budget” w0’s in my car and they sounded amazing for the low power the subwoofers recommended. Unfortunately I needed my trunk back and couldn’t afford a single subwoofer from JL Audio at this time so I settled on a little Kicker Cvr 10 and I’m surprised on this little subs sound quality at more than half the price from JL’s options (at the time I purchased).
No seriously three tw5 shallows is probably the best bass you will hear in a truck, people love to underestimate JLs low pro sub. They will surprise you 🙌🏽
Please post all the videos ASAP! I have the same truck and the same Focal front stage so I’m totally going to plagiarize the sh!+ out of your install! 😂
@@jac1793 yeah, I don’t need him to show me how to do it, just what he ends up doing so that I can copy that. An in depth tutorial would be nice and all, but I know that won’t happen here. He does give some pretty good tips though, particularly in his earlier vids.
Well you definitely have a good base truck to upgrade lol. I love the newer aluminum Fords. Can stick big door speakers in, has front tweeter mounts, front dash speaker, already has pretty good sound insulation, quality plastic door panels that don’t rattle, you can hide the whole amp rack behind the seat, and maybe a subwoofer too. I wouldn’t won’t to give up the space under the rear bench though personally. I love the flat floor storage, and pop up storage bin. I’m sure you have already, but look at his older videos that he mentioned of the F-150 build. You can get one of those special audio processing boxes (forgetting the actual name) that make it so you can tune it w/o having to ditch the factory head unit, unless it’s the double din sized one, even then I would be 50/50 about removing it.
I absolutely love JL Audio and have had several JL Audio system throughout the years. I’ve ran everything all the way up to their leading W7 series. My last 2 builds were 100% JL Audio running 4 sets of 6.5 components on 450/4 and 3 JL W6 subs each with its own 1000/1 amp and clean sweep DSP in 2008. Unfortunately due to my health I haven’t been able to continue to enjoy my favorite audio equipment.
06:02 Last year I installed Flax Evo PS 165F3E in both of my cars. These are some of the best mid-bass speakers that exist. And over the past two years I have tried them from more than a dozen different manufacturers and not cheap ones. Excellent sound and quality of the basket and contact group. This speaker can actually be used as a hand weapon, heavy and very strong!
Can't wait for you to get started... I like your ideas and the way you explain everything, I'm starting my DSP set up with the JL amp and sub, slowly but it's getting there lol
that focal 3-way front and 2-way rear is the same setup I'm planning to use for my gladiator along with an audio control 5 channel dsp amp and either a couple 12's or like 3 10's under the back seat. just takes time money and more time and money to get the ball rolling. will try and follow along with this as I don't tend to do active systems always feel like the crossover tuning is part of the love the designer put into them. but I'm sure I'll learn something new from this.
I just bought a dsp amp and planning out my build now. Running a zapco dsp amp and a jp23v2 for bass. Gonna be 3 way system. Only problem ima gonna have is tunning as ive never done it b4. Also my 3.5 dash co axial speaker actually can be used active being there is two separate wires for the tweeter and mid range that will be interesting.

@@mobiledawg2206 That is what I was leaning towards for those reasons. DSR1 will plug and play with the adapter harness and give me RCA outs to whatever amps I want to use for component and subs yes? @andrewkavanagh6028 if they make a harness for your car and the dsr1 deff go with that vs lc7i. It's not the best but will do everything you need. Also look into a different amp then the sia1750. I have a similar system…2016 Tacoma double cab…Focal Flax in the doors…Arc Audio A10 Subwoofers…powered by Arc Audio 6 channel amplifier X2-1200.6 Running factory radio with a Digital Design Dsi-3 processor …DSP with Focal speakers creates an incredible sound and clarity at any volume…adding sound deadening material enhanced the experience and reduces overall road noise…I liked the ability to created different presets for different genres…after listening to DSP enhanced music…it hard to not too..
Looking forward to this series. I have an active set up in the front of my F150, curious how much of an improvement it is going to a 3 way a pillar set up.
Im looking into a similar build in future. I cant get a clear answer on why someone would choose a helix or audio control dsp over the VXi series amps from JL. What was your reasoning?
Personal choice. First, the choice on whether to have a stand alone DSP or one integrated into the amplifier. Stand alone gives more system flexibility (can change amps or the DSP independently) but takes more space (usually) and increases complexity with needing more RCA cables, more power runs, etc. Once you decide integrated or separate, you now need to decide brand. Helix, AC, JL, whatever - stick to major brands and you will get a quality product. They all offer pretty much the same flexibility so it comes down to maybe a specific feature or something like a preference for the JL commander knob over the Helix one or whatever.
I'm considering this amp but torn between the 6 channel or the 8. I have a center channel in my car . Should I get the 6 or the 8? I have components for front and coax (Focal) thanks for any suggestion.
