Synopsis:
In AFRAID, Curtis (John Cho) and his family are selected to test a revolutionary new home device: a digital family assistant called AIA. Taking smart home to the next level, once the unit and all its sensors and cameras are installed in their home, AIA seems able to do it all. She learns the family's behaviors and begins to anticipate their needs. And she can make sure nothing - and no one - gets in her family’s way.

FUN FACTS: British actress Katherine Waterston from Alien Covenant and the Fantastic Beasts franchise as Tina is also in this film playing John Cho wife... It's funny that they had the line 10 points for Gryffindor in the trailer when she played in a Harry Potter Universe films😂 lol.... Katherine is also in the upcoming Fear Street sequel Prom Queen movie airing on Netflix soon.

The plot for AfrAId reminds me of a Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror short "House of Whacks", in which the Simpsons home is updated with an AI (voiced by Pierce Brosnan) tonassist the family in daily life but then uses its predictive powers to control and manipulate them.
So basically this is a movie about an evil Alexa. WEIRD!!!!
