I was in Leicester Square, London, when Ronaldo was there for the premiere of that movie about him. The place was packed out, like it was for Star Wars or something, thousands of people (?) All jammed in to that small area and all cheering him etc. He handled himself very impressively too, and it was clear the crowd loved him, and he really appreciated it all. Both are great players (personally my favourite is Zidane, so cool, and the best I ever saw was Maradona, one man team often...)... But these two guys at the moment, and for the last ten / twelve years have been amazing, and both are loved, and both deserve it all.

Messi is just simply a better Footballer all around, and much easier on the eye. Ronaldo is a tall, strong, technically gifted player with insane athleticism and phenomenal goal scoring scent/ability but he does not dominate like Messi other areas of the pitch. It's mostly all centered around "goalscoring" near/inside the box play. And yes we all know goalscoring is the most beautiful thing in the game, but it is not the only thing. Link up play, passing ability, playmaking, vision, taking on defenders 1v1, ball control, changing direction at top speed, dribbling skill etc all these things Messi dominates, all the while competing with Ronaldo on goalscoring prowess too. This is mainly why people admire Messi more. What is for certain though, is Ronaldo's drive and will to be the best is absolutely out of this world, and perhaps unsurpassed by none. I was in Leicester Square, London, when Ronaldo was there for the premiere of that movie about him. The place was packed out, like it was for Star Wars or something, thousands of people (?) All jammed in to that small area and all cheering him etc. He handled himself very impressively too, and it was clear the crowd loved him, and he really appreciated it all. Both are great players (personally my favourite is Zidane, so cool, and the best I ever saw was Maradona, one man team often...)... But these two guys at the moment, and for the last ten / twelve years have been amazing, and both are loved, and both deserve it all.

Ronaldo is a tall, strong, technically gifted player with insane athleticism and phenomenal goal scoring scent/ability but he does not dominate like Messi other areas of the pitch. It's mostly all centered around "goalscoring" near/inside the box play. And yes we all know goalscoring is the most beautiful thing in the game, but it is not the only thing. Link up play, passing ability, playmaking, vision, taking on defenders 1v1, ball control, changing direction at top speed, dribbling skill etc all these things Messi dominates, all the while competing with Ronaldo on goalscoring prowess too. This is mainly why people admire Messi more. What is for certain though, is Ronaldo's drive and will to be the best is absolutely out of this world, and perhaps unsurpassed by none. How he has matched a freak of nature on pure hard work and dedication is beyond me. That's not to say he doesn't have any natural talent either, but you can see that the biggest chunk of his success is owed to the fact he has out worked everybody.
