I’m a retired custom cabinetmaker that built my cabinets almost exactly as you do on the video. This process has served me well over the years as it will for all woodworkers making cabinetry. Great video and I’m happy to say that I picked up a little tip here. Thank you

Jim Sherman Does it not pay you to apply stain of finish before assembly of the cabinets ? Surely it's harder once they are assembled

After reviewing countless instructional videos and woodworking articles, this one tutorial has it all! It is the Holy Grail of cabinet building. It is concise and gives step-by-step directions that gets you well prepared for building cabinets. It helps you avoid the pitfalls and mistakes of figuring steps out which are typically missing from limited tutorials. Thanks Greg for an outstanding result and so much effort.

I have watched scores of kitchen cabinet building videos and they all left me with questions. This video answered every single one of those questions, as well as providing numerous tips for maximizing your plywood stock and things like that. This is the video I've been trying to find for months! Outstanding job Gregory!

    Thanks for the great video.

The playbook he details has me (only now) realizing I'm ready. My observation: as a retired builder my hands/wrists are MRI-certified shot. And this too is a lot of repetitive-motion "stuff". One really needs to be careful. I'm going to air for a lot of tools. The weight of the tool-in-hand is so much lighter...no battery weight etc. Comments?

Such a first class video mate!! ( forgive me, I'm an Aussie)
No umms, Errs and narrative fumbles.
Rock steady tripod mounted camera views,
No musical preferences to like or dislike.
Well balanced narrative and tool sound volumes.
You covered the whole gamut of, what you're about, basic measurements and how to arrive at individual part sizes plus the variety of cabinet styles in common use.
Then some quick lessons in dovetailing, hardware mounting and finishing.
Watch this video once and you're confident. Twice and your super confident.
    Three times, well, no need!!!
This is probably one of the best and most informative videos on the subject.
    So very well done!

Awesome job!

I admit, I have never used pocket screws. I have used other joinery. I also like to use a 1/4" bit in a router table instead of a dado blade, and leave that one table set up just for drawers. This is primarily because at my cabinet supply and laminate shop, I can buy an oversized bit if we use Mica board, that makes up for that coating. But I love this video for its completeness. I was a carpenter and cabinet maker before I retired. I am medically retired, and am rebuilding a small house that my wife and I purchased and live in.

Hi Mark. I've just been reading all the feedback from the people that really are impressed and can't believe the amount of information to those that are capable of producing what you have just gifted to us. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your video. I'm guessing that we may not all be updating our kitchens but there is so much much information and teaching that will improve our ability to build so many projects in future. I think the comment from Justin says it all. realise that you have impressed and taught much to someone from the other side of the world, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. "Good onya mate!"

Very detailed description. Thank you for that. One thing it doesn't cover is overlay doors and drawer faces. I realize that it is mostly a matter of measuring properly for the reveal that's desired. But, I think applying the hinges to the doors is different. I have a problem visualizing that, and I'm not sure if a specific hinge is necessary for each different reveal.

You would think Mark Allen would mention that the woodworker in the video is indeed Greg Paulini a well know furniture maker www.finewoodworking.com/author/gregory-paolini rather than take the credit and accolades himself. I am either missing his reference to Greg somewhere or this is messed up. In fact I am guessing this is an instructional video under license and distributed by Gregory Paolini Design, LLC

What is the trimmer called at the store, so I know what to ask for when I go to buy it? Sorry to be so ignorant, but I am just starting building cabinets, and I really don't know. This is an excellent video! Articulate, and showing everything I need to know at a pace I can understand what u are saying. And very interesting also. Thank u so very much!! What measurements wud u use differently to make cabinets that go to the ceiling from the 18 in above the counter? Or wud it be better to make 2 separate cabs? I have no soffit, & want my cabs to go to the ceiling, which is another 28 in above what my 30 inch tall cab will be. Wud u advise me to use some decorative moulding to trim to take up some of the space?
Thanks for a great video, & thanks in advance for any answers u can offer me.
