    Dont know how to stress this enough. Keep on getting comments on this but this video was designed to educate the viewer. Use this information at your own risk. Off road use only would be the best category to place this in.

    Thanks, it works! When the seat belt is removed from the roller mechanism, you can tighten the spring further. when the roll has turned a number of times, there is more tension on it and you can reattach the belt.

    i very much appreciate the time to do the video, small suggestion for next time, clear the work bench and put a clean piece of card down, then everything is much clearer, a clean workspace is essential and then if anything drops out it is easy to locate. best wishes from UK

    I too have the same seat belt. Tried to make it workable after a slight crash. But it is not so easy to drill and cut the screw head of SS with a drilling machine. So after trying with HSS and other bits, my mission repair failed ! Any other solution to drill out that head?

    cool video on taking something apart, but you are removing the safety feature of the belt locking up when a crash occurs. The next time you get into a crash this feature will not lock the belt and the webbing could keep pulling out till it runs out. The webbing does stop when the ball bearing rocks on angles in the retractor causing it to momentarily lock up, but is not a permanent fix.

    I have a 2015 malibu. Removed the ball bearings that blew and the gears that locked it up. It still does not retract all the way(gets locked up). Looks to be these 2 half moon gears that go on that same side of igniter end but under the plate . Are you familiar with these half moon gears. They look like they are suppose to open to a certain point before it would lock. Any help. ???Thanks

      @sammik6676  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Phillip gomez when I first did the procedure the seat belt did not retract (had some trubble figuring out what was up) but what i did is i put the seat belt module back into the car ( the car has the belt at an angle when put back into its slot ) witch in some cars its just a steel ball that when perfectly balanced releases the belt) other cars have different systems in place. Id try that

    • @phillipgomez9764
      @phillipgomez9764 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sam mik yes, your right. Noticed on some videos it had to be at 90°. I put it at a 90° and can see the end (ball valve/plastic gears) unlock (free)like it should and when not at a 90 it will lock like it should. Problem is the other end of gear shaft has those half moons that lock up when it's still at 90° and the ball valve end is free. I am going to just put in the car to try and see if it changes anything.

    • @sammik6676
      @sammik6676  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Richard Rigava it means your spring is loose and your might have to coil it up again. Or if it's really loose you might have to get a new one

    One question every seat belt are similar?

    • @sammik6676
      @sammik6676  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Vigarin Garcia not all seatbelts are the same. I believe there are 2 different kinds of mechanisms by which seatbelts work by. the simple mechanical ones ( standard cars) and the more complex sensory ones ( newer and more luxury and high end cars like Mercedes, lexus and so on) (the one i did in this video is the sensory one). the mechanical seat belts work almost the same way as these. the main difference is 1. the mechanical seatbelts don't always have a sensor to it. 2. instead of having little gears in the seat belt that lock up in an accident, they have little steal balls. that once triggered in a collision the balls are released from there holding chambers, the steal balls are shot and lock up the seat belt. now to fix the mechanical version seatbelts. its the same proses as seen in the video except instead of those little gears locking up the seat belt it will be steal balls. just remove them. and you will be all good 😀

    UHHHHHHHH...... Airbag light.
    this is not the correct way to fix your seatbelts.
    This way removes the BLOWN SQUIB in the seatbelt...Making your seatbelt a basic NON-SRS type seatbelt.
    the Yellow connector isn't a "resistor" its a connector. the SQUIB or explosive device in the seatbelt retractor has a resistance that the airbag module reads. Usually in the range of 2.2 to 2.5 Ohms.
    You would need to re-connect that connector to the CAR SIDE, and add a resistor of 2.2 to 2.5 ohms. then clear the srs light. BUT... This only works on GM 2010 and up, Mercedes 3 crash events allowed, BMW three crash events allowed, New DODGE after 2014.. most other makes, and ALL Japanese, Korean cars will have to have the airbag module reset or replaced and programmed.
